I'm looking for an all purpose build really, I'd like to dabble in AV killing, be able to handle +4 8 person sized mobs and be somewhat useful on teams.

I've been playing with Mids and this is what I came up with, he's heavy on resist with a nod toward soft-capping melee def, I'm quite far from doing that, I'm way over the scrapper cap for energy damage resist.

Take a look and let me know what can be improved on, don't worry about cost, gonna do lots of TFs and my brother can make a fortune on the market.

First, edit your colors, pls

Second. numbers look good. Do you really have access to the 2 glad IOs?

Third, you found the same thing I did. ElA is a very expensive build to maximize. My build drops defense all together to focus on recharge. Basically I am hoping my siphon life, energize and power sink keep me going.

I have a DM/ElA brute, and opted not to take Dark Consumption. With just Stamina and Power Sink, I never have any end problems, and that's without Numina/Miracle uniques.

If you really want to take Dark Consumption, you might want to drop Stamina, or vice versa. Power Sink is great, and while it does come later, I wouldn't consider dropping it over DC or Stam.

And stacking Conserve Power on top of that is even more endurance management overkill (though you obviously just took it to get to Phys Perf). Maybe Focused Accuracy there instead, not for all the time, just when you're up against dodgy ******* targets like T9ed bosses or +4 rikti drones.

To be honest I think building for defense with /Eletric is a waste. You want to stack up recharge, and mabye smashing/lethal resist. Especially for a DM/Elec. You have heals in siphon life and energize, and you want it up as often as possible. You have regen from energize. You have good resist toggles, if you pick up tough it's not hard to get 60% or so S/L resist. Plus the more recharge you have, the more often you can get soul drain up.

Dark Consumption is overkill. Energize already has an end discount buff built in, and you want it up as much as possible. Power sink will easily cover any other end problems you might have. To be honest, I don't think physical perfection will be needed. Power sink refills your end bar every 20-30 seconds or so. With energize up most of the time, and stamina, it's going to be hard to burn through your end that fast. I guess you could try dropping stamina when you get to high levels. Pick up physical perfection instead, but your really just saving 1 power pick, and I would rather have Swift/hurdle + Health + Stam then x epic + Physical perfection.

Looked at your build a it closer, and it does look pretty tough, but still think you would get more benefit from working on recharge more. And it would be cheaper. You don't have hasten, and I know some people don't like it, but it's really nice. Especially if you can get a good amount of global recharge. For example with your current build, you picked a number of sets that give regen bonuses, but energize is only up a bit more then half the time and the healing isn't capped. If you slotted energize better, to cap out healing and recharge you would end up with close to 200% regen most of the time, and a 45% heal every 35-40 seconds. And that is just from that 1 power. It's a trap i fall into myself, I work on set bonuses, without realizing I could get more from just making sure that normal enchanement values are capped.

You said everything I tried to say in my DM/ElA Mk II thread. (of course I have gone through 7 different builds in it.)

Upped the recharge a bit rearranged powers and grabbed hasten.
Kept dark consumption for both AoEs and the overkill end, I always want more options then fewer.
