I find myself saying this alot recently, but you want Conserve Power up often and I'm not telling you not to take it, but seriously examine whether you need hasten, or whether you're taking it out of habit. Soloing AVs requires sustained DPS over minutes at a time, which requires sustained endurance, and many people overlook the latter when building for AVs. If I had to guess, MA seems like it has quick enough attacks to not need Hasten for a competent attack chain for AVs. Also, you can't solo AVs if you can't heal yourself. Either take the Medicine Pool for Aid Self or carry greens because you will get hit, soft-capped or otherwise.

If you're not too worried about having the best dps chain maybe going with a hasten less build and chaining ohhh say sk-ck-cak-sk-ec. then maybe you could find room for aidself. I'm no where near a computer right now but someone with a calculator might be able to give you the numbers on that chain. I'll post a couple of builds for you to look at when I get home.

BillZ calculated 190 dps for Fire/ running Incinerate -&gt; GFS -&gt; Cremate. Fully saturated AAO knocks my DPS up to 260ish. Mind you I do have a few set +damage bonuses as well so not all of that increase is due to AAO but the large majority is. For /WP you want to aim at the typed defenses instead of positional and it will be hard if not impossible to softcap them all without gimping your build a lot.

Thanks for the helpful replies. I would have definitely gone DM/Shield, but I already have a fully IOed DM/Shield Brute and wanted to try Fire Melee with crits. I am one of those people who loathes Aid Self so it will be tough accepting that I need it. I want Hasten too so I'll have to try and soft cap without CJ.

so not even close...
maybe I could punch it up a few more points but I doubt I'm gonna be spending that amount of inf on a pvp +def IO...

I don't seem to have anything saved, but I've seen Katana/Fire builds that would be perfectly AV-capable with a few tweaks in that direction. If I remember the approach, you combine soft-capped (or near) defenses with very good resists and a rapid fire self heal. The extra damage doesn't hurt either. Anyway, good job, Iggy. There are those that likes to team and there are those that would rather solo...
