  1. Yea, thats plenty of recharge. Anything below 70% seems to be untouched by DR.

IMO, and some may argue this, you can drop a few points of KB for a LOTG. 41 KB protection will keep you safe from everything except force bolt, and that requires 53 to not be kb'd.

I am not sure that there is a difference between 41 and 48 KB protection in terms of saving you from a power.

Anyways, thats just my .02 inf.

  4. The fire/kin is good, you just herd all the heroes into a corner and Fulcrum/Rain of Fire. Most everything will die, you may need to clean up the occasional Tank with fireball.

    Want to learn

My suggestions to anyone who asks me for help as a "newb" in PvP is:

    1) First and most important: Pick a role that you want to play; it can be disruption, healer, buffer, damage, etc..

    2) Practice this role in zones. The arena is completely unforgiving, one bad night can get you fat kidded for quite a while as a new player. Practice makes perfect just like anything in life.

    3) Get to know people in the community. Contrary to popular belief not all pvp'rs are ********.

    4) Do your research. Read up on these forums, learn what builds are good and bad. Don't try and reinvent the wheel. There is a reason why builds are FOTM.

    5) Have a thick skin. You will be called all sorts of names, be told you are bad, etc.. Just ignore negativity.

Here is probably the second most important piece of advice I can give:

Learn from your mistakes. Don't fret the loses, but make sure you know why you lost! Revise your strategy and go at it again.

    Good Luck, Have Fun..

    Elec Stalkers?

    2. bone smasher is essentially the same as havoc punch from elec so you can't make an argument for bone smasher's animation being a good follow-up, since well, elec can do that too.
    3. ET does not crit for damage.
    4. TS crits for damage once or twice and is heavily proc-able.
    5. TF does not crit for full damage and should be buffed.

there is no reason to roll an EM stalker when you can rely on the awesomeness that is double proc'd impale or the straight up amazingness that is thunder strike.
    QFT

There really isnt a reason right now to roll EM. Its been so heavily nerfed that its just not in the same league as Spines (Impale) or Elec Melee (Thunder Strike).

in zone, you really dont need hiber if you have phase and a heal. no heal takes longer than the phase timer to recharge, so once you're inside phase, you can heal up if you really need to.

also, phase requires 0 slot investment.

hibernate on the other hand, requires that you slot at least the equivalent of two heal SOs to make it even remotely comparable to lolrest.
i could see making an argument for using hibernate on an /sr on a /ea, but definitely not on a wp/nin/regin.
in the time it takes you wait til the hibernate regen kicks in, can go into rest and gain more hp out of it with a single green so slotted into it, while still being able to hit reconstruction if you are wp/nin/regin. warhamster did the math on that already.

also, phase is most definitely not useless in a team pvp match.
i've gotten my fair share of thunderstrike/shrak phase kills on my elec/ea (back when i didn't have many kb resistant toons and insisted on stalking/shraking).

finally, on a stalker, you should always be in evasion mode. you get touched, you run the crap away to get back into hide. anyone who stalked even once in the old ladder will tell you that as soon as you get hit, you need to gtfout asap and get back into hide order to do your job because once you're out of a hide, you become a really nice target if people that understand how ridiculously squishy stalkers are, is calling.
if you go straight into hibernate when you're being attacked, you will, more likely than not, take an extra hit of damage since you just stood still for 1.5 secs while the stupid thing animates and activates. that's 1.5 secs and a reset into your hide counter that you dont get if you phase and while running. 1.5 secs when you have the likes of march or hot trying to gerbil up your *** with their stupid grav dots is the difference between having to wait 5 seconds for crush to stop dot-ing or 10 seconds for a second crush to stop dot-ing. that happening 5 times during the match means you have just been taken out of 5 spikes/potential kills.
Sure, I agree with your points completely.

I am definitely a proponent of phase. I'm just not willing to concede that Hibernate is useless.

I feel safer dropping into a 100% safe "phase" (hibernate) to absorb whatever is coming at me then dropping hiber and into phase.

    Just my 2 cents,

    Kiri

    This is misinformation.

There are "broken powers" for instance Defender TK is broken in that people can no escape being TK'd until the caster is held.

Corruptor Spirit Shark Jaws is broken in that it does insane damage when scourging.

Tanker earth mastery "Fossilize" does more damage then any other tanker attack.

No powers however, are broken in the way that it would hold you for 9-10 seconds.

The closest thing another class has to a "broken" duration hold is the Devastation Hold Proc that lasts for several seconds and (it appears to) not trigger supression.

    -Kiri
  9. Last night I was on my blaster, I never realized how crazy op'd power boosted TF and the earth stun is.

That said, if someone throws a random immob or short duration hold it supresses the TF, I saw it a few times last night.

IDK what to suggest, but I know being stunned for 9-10 seconds is broken, but I also know if some random newb stalker/corruptor is spamming the mako hold (1/2 second hold), it protects me better then prenerf breakfrees and that has to annoy the hell out of these */nrg doms.

    Point #2:

I am torn, I dont know that I necessarily would want i12 PvP again. I think if you removed TS and HD from the zones PvP would be pretty enjoyable.

    Suggestions:

Perhaps make breakfrees trigger hold supression?

Sharks definitely need a bit of tuning. I think that damage from sharks should be reduced by 1/3 bringing it down to around 300ish damage per crit.

I think the phase "cool timer" should be halved, or eliminated in arena PvP.

The global pvp resistance increase should be reduced by 25% for squishies and increased by 25% for tanks.

If heal decay has to stay then perhaps change heal decay so that 4 heals from one individual triggers decay so that multiple healers are useful.

For god's sake buff Sonic Resonance!! Give the shields psionic resists and status resistances (end drain and stun/hold resist would be nice), give clarity +damage or TP Protection. Perhaps reconsider the cage timer, maybe Sonic Cage lasts double gravity cage durations.

Speaking of TP Protection, it appears the innate TP protection/resistance in energy armor is broken.

Can we please get better protection around the Hero Base? The Mu's at the villain base are pretty nice body guards with the stuns/end drain. There needs to be more Wardens protecting the base area preferably ones flying around with the "Longbow Eagle Patrols".

Speaking of bases isnt it time to introduce TP protection around the bases? Or even give the drones an ae buff that grants TP protection and prevents you from tp'ing. There is far too much droning and people being tp'd out of the base.

I guess i could keep going but I dont want to waste too much of my time on suggestions that fall on deaf ears.

I disagree... In zones with the prevalence of TA's, Quicksand (earth mastery tanks) and caltrops on every fcking scrapper, you are going to need phase and hibernate. You use hibernate for initial phase/HP Recovery and then pop out with phase to escape. If you do not double phase you will die 80% of the times you come out of hibernate.

In team pvp, I will concede that phase is mostly useless. However in the odd time you fight a team with an extremely good TA you may need phase to lose acid arrow.

IMO if you are playing a stalker without a defensive tier9 or shadowmeld you need to take both Hiber and Phase.

    Freezing Rain

The person hit with FR is debuffed for 30 seconds after they are hit with a tick of rain.

So if they sit in the patch for all 15 seconds they are technically debuffed for 45 seconds..

    Hope that makes sense

This is just my 2 inf so take it with a grain of salt.

I have been back to the CoX scene for about a week now. When I came back all my buds welcomed me back with open arms, for that I am very appreciative because I know I am pretty rusty still. I have also made quite a few new friends that I had never met. I really think that the PvP community is clouded with this poor reputation that very few actually live up to.

I joined up on the KB matches and still had a blast. The only time I ever see a person "fat kidded" with a viable build is because the person has a bad reputation they have created themselves. The only other times is when we just have too many people (ie more then 16).

Anyways, I really like the idea of having a draft and sharing the "PvP Elite" talent. TPvPL was always great fun and a lot of new players gained a solid bit of knowledge from participating.

    Regards,

    Kiri
  18. I've always been torn on the duel phase builds given that phase is suppressed. I know you can always click out of Hibernate and toggle Phase as long as the 30 sec timer hasnt expired. However, phase + invis is usually more then enough to get out of 80% of situations.

You can always replace Hibernate with the patron hold which is nice for grounding fliers in teams and can be two slotted with lockdowns for extra damage % and frees up slots for more proc's in attacks or passives.

I also think its worth mentioning that the Miracle recov and Numi recov/regen procs in HPT are worth their weight in gold. I would put priority in finding a way to afford these two IO's.

    Just my 2 inf.

    In what sense?

A buyable Respec? We've had that for a while already: the Respec recipe that's already in-game. It's just that there's now yet another route to get one.

... that's not any of the three Trials.

... that's not any of the many, Many, MANY Freespecs they've handed out.

So far, the Devs have been only putting knickknacks in the Store. I fully believe they'll continue the trend and save anything actually, y'know, good for the vast majority of the populace.
