If we get a selection of power EFFECTS, I'm going to swap out Sniper Blast for something that doesn't suck, like a big giant fireball or a Zeus Titan beam of energy ala Blazing Bolt.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is such an epicly awesome Idea I don't dare hope we can have this. I have no problem with the current Energy blast snipe, but I love that Zues titan blue beam. (Same one that is on the Assault Bot for MMs right?) That is just such a cool blast beam. I'd swap that into my powers in a second if we could!
I don't know if we will get much more than colorization though. I have a feeling that making it so it would switch animations or effects would just be a huge over haul of the graphics system not to mention the costume editor where we would have to change all these things.
I've been wrong before, but I would be very surprised if we got that level of customization. -
Will Power customization extend to MM Pets? I mean, I saw the different color imps, but will I be able to color my bots and ninjas? That'd be so sweet...

I was gone on vacation for a week and a half recently. When I got back and had a chance to log on to the game, everything looked cool to me again because I had forgotten the visual "feel" of CoH in the meantime. That's about the best way I can describe it.
It makes sense for me I suppose because that's what drew me to the game in the first place. I normally dismiss computer games as a waste of time, but my roomie was playing this and I kept looking over his shoulder, "Say, this looks kind of neat..."
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually the Visual and Audio feel of this game, even the menus and the opening music while I created my first character were very appealing to me. And the game world itself the same way. I still remember being hooked in about 10 minutes and the first rainy afternoon in early october that I played. -

If I had to guess, and I don't, I would surmise that the new Praetorian Salvage is just added to diversify the salvage a bit more... It will probably be mixed with existing salvage for new recipes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Funny. I agree, I think that is likely exactly what it is. But the descriptions of these pieces Reference Praetorian Clockwork Androids, combined with the news that Praetoria will be several zones, I think that let's us no we will have some alternate universe clockwork, and as androids no less, perhaps better than the pile of scraps they are now?
Also I am hoping some alternate dimension Devouring Earth, could be very cool IMO.

The Progenitor Lichen references Hamidon. Now it's wild speculation, but how could would a Praetorian Hamidon be?
[/ QUOTE ]
Is it possible he never turned into a giant blob? Would be interesting if there were a new Hami raid that didn't involve Jello... but instead had some new and different DE threat.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree, I would love to see a new and completely different Hamidon.
Instead of turning into Jello he turned into Angelfood Cake... (Sticking with the dessert theme.)
Okay Angel food cake is a bad idea, but a vastly different Alternate Dimension Hamidon could be very cool. (Though it is still wild speculation at this point since the salvage didn't actually mention Praetoria, just Hamidon.) -
[ QUOTE ]
Someone has speculated that they're Praetorian salvage from the GR expansion later this year.
[/ QUOTE ]
The Android pieces all reference the pieces being taken from Praetorian Clockwork Androids.(This was pointed out when I mentioned these in the thread about features that were missed.)
The primordial moss and the brain lichen both reference Devouring Earth but not Praetoria. However being that they are new with the other ones, it seems that their could be Praetorian Devouring Earth.
The Progenitor Lichen references Hamidon. Now it's wild speculation, but how could would a Praetorian Hamidon be?
Edited for accuracy -

I strongly suspect that if I can, I'm going to change my necro/dark mastermind's dark powers to a pretty pink. After all, her supergroup is "Little Rays of Sunshine" and their colors are pink and purple, with the Heart (the nice cute valetines' heart, not a real one) as their logo
[/ QUOTE ]
I think my Girlfriend is going to change her Dark\WP Scrapper to a pink and white or Pink and Purple set up as well.
Personally I have wanted this a long time and now don't know what I am going to do with it. For so long I have modeled my character's costume colors on their power sets.
My Energy blaster is blue and white schemed, my Ice tanker a light blue scheme and my Emp\Rad defender already green with either white or black. I really like their looks so I am sure some of these won't get changes at all.
On the other hand my Electric brute is no longer going to have red lightning. It may go purple or Black or grey or some darker color.
My Energy blaster is going to get his Pink Pom Poms of Death turned dark blue.
My Fire\Elec blaster is going to have Fire turned dark blue and electricity turned light blue.
I need something besides the god awful yellow glow for my DB/WP scrapper. Something much more subdued since she is supposed to be natural and that glow doesn't look right.
My question is, will we be able to color pool powers and Patrons as well? I'd like something besides blazing yellow feet for super speed. I'd also like to change my Soul Mastery powers on my Stalker to dark blue. -
Noticed something you had seen before, again?
I recently did the arc for Allison King in Brickstown where I was running through Orenbaga collecting Crystals and fighting Akarist.
In three years of playing this game I have gone through Orenbaga plenty of times but it's been a while and I really noticed again just how cool those maps are.
An ancient, sunken, underground city of mystics is just a cool idea. Granted many of the maps are just tunnels but many rooms are giant underground chambers with large ruins in them. All the torches and stone ruins and ancient buildings just seem like something straight out of Indiana Jones.
I found myself completing missions then flying around just checking out the scenery. The waterfalls and the rocks and pillars and spires and what look to be ancient underground temples.
I actually find myself Wanting to see like a giant open zone of Orenbaga, like an underground city zone where you can just see a huge expanse of old ruins etc.
Anyway, I just thought it was cool to re-notice something and wondered if other people have similar experiences running into something they have seen before and say "Damn, this is still impressive."
P.S. Circle of Thorns are still a giant pain... -
I just read the description.
Looks like Praetoria will have Clockwork Androids, how very cool.
Also the brain lichen and primordial mass reference the Devouring Earth, but don't mention Praetoria. But they appear to be brand new like the android bits so I ahve to wonder, will Praetoria have Devouring Earth?
The Progenitor Lichen, a new rare piece mentions hamidon. Now I have to wonder, will Praetoria have a Praetorian Hamidon? How friggen cool would that be? -

They're "new", but they're not actually available in the game yet. Likely, it's a slip of something from Going Rogue (a while back, some recipes got accidentally added to the market before being added to the game in a later issue).
[/ QUOTE ]
Already? Seems like they would be from the Science Booster or I16. Going Rogue is still a ways off....
[/ QUOTE ]
If you look at the descriptions, you'll see all of them reference Praetorian stuff... that's why I figured Going Rogue.
[/ QUOTE ]
New salvage would definitly have an impact in gameplay - and that is outside the scope of a booster.
[/ QUOTE ]
True, but they have already said I16 will be before GR. I guess I am surprised that they would have things from GR showing up in the game already. However that is exciting, it's like evidence of the future. I am about to log in again and go read those descriptions. -

Did they add new invention salvage?
I am on the market right now and noticed a number of items in the invention salvage section I have never seen before.
Progenitor Lichen (Rare)
Primordial Mass (Common)
Android Armor Plate (Uncommon)
Android Blaster (Common)
Android Circuitry (Common)
Brain Lichen (Common)
Are these new or are there really this many pieces of salvage I never got and never saw before? -

Actually, I don't really agree with most of the origin write ups, I kind of go with what ever story I want to spin for my char and ignore the whole origin thing other wise. I very rarely use anything but IOs anymore any way so it doesn't come into play much for me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. For example, I've got a few characters that would probably fit best under Science, but I despise the Vahz so much that I refuse to take Science on the hero side. Or I may make a tech-based character, but don't really want them to have Clockworks as their primary enemies this time. I'll simply choose a different game origin and RP it my own way.
[/ QUOTE ]
I had the same problem back when I first started the game, and tried to fight Clockwork with my Tech-origin AR Blaster. Needless to say, it sucked and he got deleted, and I swore never to make a Tech character that specialized in lethal damage ever again.
But...ever since they introduced radio missions blueside - or heck, even things like sewer teams and the AE - this is no longer an issue. I could have remade the above AR Blaster and theoretically never have had to worry about being forced to fight enemies resistant to his damage. The same can now be said for any character of any powerset. So unless you strongly prefer to do the story arcs of your chosen origin, this problem is now circumventable.
Meanwhile, a lot of the times I hear people complaining about their origin, it just means their preconceived definition of that origin was wrong in the first place, and they're too stubborn to change. The old "I was mutated in a Science experiment, therefore I'm Mutation" chicane comes to mind...
[/ QUOTE ]
See that's my issue with the origins in the game. They don't line up at all with what I think my characters origin and specialty should be.
I would see that as, an experiment turned me into a mutant, there for I am a mutant, regardless of the nature of the experiment. But the Origin descriptions in the game are really fairly specific.
I think most of my chars would be "natural" if I went by what the game said, even though I attribute their powers to other things.. But it's a nit pick and I largely ignore what the game says the origins are and go with what ever I like best for the concept. -

Actually wouldn't Castle = Fortress?
[/ QUOTE ]
Castle is a reference to the chess maneuver of Castling, rather than to the architectural structure called a Castle. Hence my forum Avatar.
I was actually looking for a term synonymous with "Discovered Attack" for the Praetorian name, but settled on "Checkmate" when I couldn't find anything suitable in the 2 minutes I allowed myself to look.
[/ QUOTE ]
Synonymous or opposite of?
Opposite of Discovered Attack : Veiled Retreat
Synonymous to Discovered Attack : Perceived Assault ?
Or - Identified Aggression ?
Or - Detected Incursion?
Just some thoughts in my own 2 minute window... (self imposed of course.) -
I posted that in the wrong section didn't I?
Err umm, that was a typo, I meant corruptor. I'd never play a goody goodfy blaster..

That's not even a Superman reference...Is it? -
I have a character who has been inactive for nearly a year now. Level 1, never been played, I made him just to hold the name on my server for the character I will one day make as a Dual pistols\psy blaster.

Anyone run TFs regularly on Virtue? I have heroes and villains across the board, and a couple badgers. Frankly I can never seem to be in the right place at the right time for any number of TFs and Trials I would love to do.
Eden,
Shadow Shard TFs etc.
Any other TF, (though I think I have done most of the others, but I'd still do them again.)
Seriously guys, if you plan to run these some time PM me or something, I'd love to be a part of more TFs. -

Not that I disagree... but what brought this on? This thread is a non sequitir.
[/ QUOTE ]
This thread was brought on by a desire for fun. It was my only motivation. I think it will be a fun thread, and it has been already. Besides, after hearing for ten thousand times in the forums that most of the girls are really guys, I wanted to disagree. Most don't seem to be to me, or at least a big percentage don't seem to be.
[/ QUOTE ]
Admittedly I am contributing quite highly to the number of girl characters with a guy player. Just under half of my characters are female. Then again, it is a role playing game, and I never found the interest in playing a bunch of carbon copy characters. Plus female Heroes and Villains are interesting to me. -

Wow, thank you all for the great responses.
Seems like I got some of it right on my initial assessment, but some of it I obviously needed more info, thank you all.
Well now I am more excited to go to work on this build and see how it goes. To the Ice\Kin mobile! -

Sorry, I can't help it.
I don't mind that they added some deadpan serious faces for the serious business crowd. What I mind is that they didn't add anything else. Variety is a good thing, especially with new content.

If everyone can't tell, this should all be taken in good fun. Although I was really confused and disappointed in my newest aquarium acquisition at first, it's not like I'm openly weeping in the middle of some interstate waiting for the next semi of sweet release.
Just read it, picture it, be amused, post a giggle if ya want, and move on.

*amused chuckle: because real men don't giggle*
Actually, a couple of things there caught my eye and I have to say this was quite the entertaining post. At first I felt bad for you, now I am just laughing at your sense of humor. Well played...
I will have to be careful with what villainous AT I use if I ever decide to take Mako as a patron, though since I don't like fish much and he is my least favorite of the Patrons, and I don't think I want PPPs on most of my current villains, I don't know that it will be much of an issue for me.
