I hope this is part one I have never asked a lore question before and mine didn't get answered

And I don't think this happens only for COH, it happens for WoW as well. I know many guildmates and players who were top notch raiders who simply disappeared after a several months of playing, only to re-appear at the next expansion pack or next game content update.
I have a friend who played the first 4 years or so of CoH and now only plays June-September due to college etc. I have taken two breaks from CoH - one was when Issue 7 launched - the bugs etc were driving me crazy so I quit for 2-3 months. I also quit around November 2008 and came back when MA launched in April 2009. I had another break planned for December 2012 for a month or so due to a crazy hectic work schedule Dec 2012- February 2013...which if/when the game is saved - will NOT be happening
  3. Is there anyone who can post their pics from AP31 on Rally Day?? If so please post them here THANKS!

And as Zwill pointed out, a community manager would be the last person a new/reformed studio would need so he'd still be out. A reformed/new studio, even with the same name, will never be Paragon Studios without those people. Not in my book at least.
I wouldn't mind one bit if something like you said happened, though it's incredibly unlikely in my opinion. But even if it did, it doesn't mean things go back to what they were. What we once had is gone forever.

    .
Except CoH is not a new game and Zwill will be needed more than ever not only to keep the players we have but to give a boost into gaining some new players as well. IMO Zwill/Community manager will definitely be needed for when CoH is saved.

There are numerous people who can say the same thing. There are at least 3 stronger explanations for the drop in revenue that also occurred at the same time.

So, debate over, you're wrong....or.....you can get it into your head that for every person who says "I and people I know left the game because of (fill in the blank)" there are a dozen people who can say "I don't know anyone who left over that". You're one person in the game, you knew less than 1% of the games population, so you did not have your finger on the pulse of game.

    You tell em Doc :P
  6. LOL

MA is what brought me back after my 6 month hiatus.

More zones?? really?? Blue Side has/had way too many zones in the first place.

MANY factors contributed to the decline in revenue....stating it was one factor more so than the other without PROOF is... well.. simple internet arguing.

Since you are the one who is trying to convince others that the decline in revenue is mainly due to the implementation of MA.... Either show some facts....or be viewed as just another person whining/arguining without any merit/proof.

Chuck got a third season because a campaign to buy Subway sandwiches and leave fan notes about Chuck in their feedback boxes led Subway to sponsoring the third season.

As was mentioned before the most those executives are likely to see is a note that there have been a lot of messaged about saving CoH in their inbox lately. Yes that could help but physical gestures always seem huge in comparison.

Think about it. What would impress you personally more. Opening your email in the morning and seeing that you have 10,000 new messages or having the USPS truck pull up and drop off bag after bag of physical letters. Which would you be more likely to ignore and which would you be more likely to start looking through out of curiosity?
I always thought we should be sending them those bags of miniature colored marshmallows - they remind me of inspirations

What's done is done and we're all in this together.
I am choosing to make fun of you instead:

    That's all I got

My whole point in this is that people seem to be confusing other Asian cultures *cough* China *cough* with South Korea...two VERY different cultures. If NCSoft were a Chinese corporations then yes I would definitely say tread like you are on eggshells....but they aren't

You may wanna do some research before saying Freedom was our undoing F2P and micro-transactions are what a lot of MMOs are moving to...as it is more profitable

And Psst Arcanaville said /jranger which means they do not agree with the blog

Seriously?? You have NO clue about South Korean culture. You are looking at this from a North American perspective...and it shows.

This is mild and minuscule in nature to what would happen if we (the players) were located in South Korea.... VERY mild. Email campaign LOL. No If we were in South Korea we would have been protesting every single day in front of NCSoft. We would be tarnishing their image. We would make our voices heard. We would disrupt their business a lot more. The power of the masses is what makes big businesses and the government in South Korea stop and make changes. Protesting for what you believe in is a fundamental right that is exercised often in South Korea. They don't protest with emails, or in game vigils, or by sending souvenirs...they get up..and get in their faces...and it is what has caused dramatic reforms in businesses and democratic policies time and time again.

How do I know this?? My parents were actively involved in the protests in the 1970's against Park Chung-Hee...you know that little movement that started the whole Democratic reform in South Korea. South Korea has THOUSANDS of protests yearly...it's what makes them who they are...and it is the public's main instrument of change. So please stop trying to make us look like meek Asians afraid to stand up for our beliefs because you are doing a huge disservice to our culture and spreading absolute misinformation! Trust me when I say...NCSoft is not going to be pissed off about a few hundred emails...when they know the alternative if we were actually there would have been a full blown protest for days/weeks at their company headquarters and in national media tarnishing their brand!
  12. I think Mercedes Lackey's post on this subject sums up my feelings pretty well.

Tony apparently knows something we don't. Posi's gotten a tasty job offer? A venture capitalist has come forward? NCSoft is planning on shutting us down at the end of this month? I don't know. But it is clear that it is big, and a cause for urgent action. So far he has been a voice of reason here.

Now for those of you who are going "But what if those execs come in on Monday Morning and find their email box flooded!!!!!!" I have only one thing to say.

Have you never worked in a big corporation?

Execs do not see their raw email boxes. Ever. This is why they have assistants and multiple secretaries, and spam filters the like of which the Pentagon has.

If we are lucky some of those emails will make it past the spam filter and into the primary box. Then the assistant or secretary will see it. If we are lucky, said assistant or secretary will make a note of the contents for an email summary report, from which the executive will select anything he or she might want to look at after the "important" business is taken care of. If. They could already have been instructed to discard anything related to COH that comes from outside the company.

Chances that any of these will actually land in the executive's pristine and mostly empty mailbox? Optimistically thinking, 1/100,000. And then only if we somehow manage to touch what passes for a heart in the assistant. Or if we are making so much noise that we cannot be shut out and the summary report is overwhelmed with our numbers.

That is how these things work.

It is a security risk. I've got to change email address immediately (Yes. Giant corporations do some things pretty damn fast) I have to let those who need to know that my address is now changed. My mail box is flooded with all sorts of email that is rude, insulting, potentially carrying viruses. I have to have those all deleted and my hard drive or what ever drive the emails were stored on will need to be gone over carefully to make sure nothing nasty has gotten in and that there was no security breach. This (hopefully limited to) nuisance is costing me time and money that my company and I can be spending else were to better use. I'm not going to look favorably on those responsible.

Depending on what gets sent it could be much worse than a nuisance. Much.

I'm guessing the mods aren't on over the weekend. I expect this thread to be gone some time Monday.
And yet it won't really matter. All those who are active in the rally to save CoH have already seen the addresses here..on twitter.. etc etc...

And they are not AMERICAN business men... your understanding on South Korean culture is quite skewed. Will they cancel their email accounts? Who knows? Will they be angry/surprised at the hundreds of emails they get?? Who knows? Will it make them actually think about City of Heroes for one minute...yes. I hate to break it to you, but an email campaign is not going to make or break their decision either way. When they made this announcement on 8/31 they already knew whether they were going to be open to alternatives or not. If you had any insight into South Korean culture you would know that an impassioned plea/protest/rally is how things get done in South Korea.

So you can sit there being all ill-informed negative Nancy if you want. And I am sure if/when CoH does sunset you will blame those who took a stance to try and have their voices heard and emailed NCSoft. And if it doesn't?? You can thank those who have been fighting every day in every way they know how...for saving this game.
  14. I Burnt The Toast

    Blade and Soul

Absolutely NO interest in this game.
  15. I just hope that if/when it is saved...if it is put into an almost maintenance like state that Issue 24 is pushed to the server. There were so many awesome changes/fixes in i24 that if nothing new were ever created for the game...I would want those changes in place.
  16. LOL. I had to post that on twitter hehe...

The quote was meant to simply show: Nothing can be achieved by doing nothing. The "evil" here is the lights being turned out on 11/30... The evil is the disappearance of Paragon City. I am sure some people do consider NCSoft evil, but there are many more who see them simply for what they are: a business who made a decision that thousands disagree with...and so those people are trying to do whatever they can to show NCSoft that they can still make a better decision by working with outsiders to not completely end CoH.

    So don't email them.

Just so you know though... South Koreans are probably the most active protesters in the world. Protests happen in Seoul on a weekly basis and if it were not for these protest many of the democratic reforms and changes in labor laws would never have happened. Unity and standing up to a perceived problem are both accepted in South Korea (and constitutionally protected) and heralded as a means of change.

South Koreans are not like the Chinese in this effect where one does not protest; especially the government.

I think people here are confusing South Korean culture and etiquette with some of the other Asian cultures.

This worries me for many reasons, not the least of which is the fact that it shows how desperate the Save CoH movement has gotten, which isn't a good sign at all.
Where have you been? We have been desperately looking for a way to save the game since August 31, 2012.

Blogs, Twitter, and the occasional article on some gaming site are easy to ignore and truly do not show the amount of people affected by this.

We can choose to do nothing or very little and see the outcome...or we can fight with every method we have at our disposal...I am a hero I choose to fight to save Paragon City. I will not stand by and whisper in a small corner of the internet...I will make sure my voice can be heard by many; especially those who need to hear it! I will continue to fight to save Paragon City until there is nothing left to fight for, because in the end I do not want to be sitting here thinking "What if...I had said something?" "What if I had done more?" I will do it now.. I will do more today... and hope tomorrow the sun rises on Paragon City.
  22. I don't see it as spamming them. What I do see it as is passionate customers contacting them in a civil manner telling them why CoH is important to them etc.

If I was a CEO of a game and closed it down and received a couple emails - to me that is indicative of the population - a couple passionate people. Now if I received 20,000 emails of a product...that sends me more of a message. I do think it is important that the emails are courteous and professional. And I do NOT think it should be a scripted email that is simply cut and pasted...that has no meaning behind it. I think people should be encouraged to simply tell their stories about CoH, why it is important to them, asking them to reconsider shutting it down, and thanking them for taking the time to read their thoughts.

    No threats of a boycott
    No Demands
    Focus on the community
Focus on what the game means to you
Ask for them to please reconsider their initial choice and be open to other options

To me THAT is the format each email should take...personal, professional, and focused.
  23. I work in a prison profiling inmates. The other day an inmate was rambling on and on and on and I started thinking about dinner or something - then he said something like "I was fighting for my freedom" and I just looked at him and smiled

I am constantly reminded of CoH and my home server (Freedom) at work especially when I see the inmates outside in their orange jump suits as I drive in...I have to remind myself that XP for prisoners is not that much.
  24. I have a few toons that need these TFs:

I Wet The Bad (Water/Dark Corr)
    I Drive Stick (Staff/Nrg Scrap)
I Forgot My Prozac (Rad/Psi Defender)

I will definitely be doing these Saturday (Not sure about Thursday...but Saturday I am so in!)

It hasn't even been two weeks since the announcement...unlike you I am not ready to give up yet - especially with all the media attention and prominent people getting involved in the fight.

    Heroes do not give up!
