I'm sorry. But this post doesn't have the proper quota of DOOOOOOOOOOOM! in it! Thus I must /unsigned it!
Sorry, couldn't help myself. Was overwhelmed by burgeoning snarkiness.
But I applaud your solution and hope that some of the most rabid snobs are deeply shamed by your example and attempt to follow suit.
Yeah. I know, there's optimism then there's sheer craziness. I know where this fits in. -
Less reason! MOAR DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

[ QUOTE ]
It's just sad that the majority of players are content farming day afetr day and don't actually care about playing the game and experiencing the CoX world.
[/ QUOTE ]
If these people are having fun, and it's not costing you money for them to play, why do you care? You are not your brother's keeper. -
1: No. Again, because it violates the devs precept of it being an alternate levelling (not POWER levelling) tool.
2: Again, no. For the exact same reason as #1.
3: Again, NO. Again, same reason as #1.
Level-gating AE or simply capping the amount of levels you can use AE to obtain simply destroys it's utility. No offense intended, but I don't use AE currently, but I'd have ZERO reason to slog through someone else's pretentious crap if I wasn't getting rewarded for it.
I'm an achiever. Badges? Doing them. Bases? Doing them. Challenges? Doing them. AE? Was doing them for a short while but decided to wait until the *BLEEP!*storm of snobbery died down.
Yeah. Don't worry. I'm patient.
But if you don't allow me to achieve the objectives I want (and PL'ing isn't one of them) in AE, then AE is useless to me and I'll find other things I want to do more. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's funny cause when I do manage to form a little team now, all the other people on my team are all saying the same thing. They can never find teams anymore and they hate AE.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you wish to re-examine this statement for the logical inconsistencies? I'm just rolling around laughing from them.
"I just formed a team and everyone on the team is griping about being completely incapable of getting on a team"
That's essentially what you just said.
Your very argument puts the lie to your grievance.
-
Dude, you're going to bail based on the outcome of a vote based on forumites? It's not even a representation of the entire friggin server for chrissakes.
Again, you pay your $15. Play how you want. If they don't like it, they can ignore you. If you break TOS, they can report you.
Can we please just toggle the Drama off? -
[ QUOTE ]
I'd love to talk with you more about this elsewhere, I've never met another "Aspie". (I don't like that term myself)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but you'd probably hate alternates like "asphole" even worse.
Note: I'm joking, as I don't think you are one.
Wait, lemme check for today.
*flips coin*
Nope, you're not one today. My opinion may change tomorrow.
Again, this is mostly pointless. It doesn't matter how you're acting, as long as you're not violating TOS. If someone REALLY doesn't want to put up with you, it's called "ignore" for a reason. -
There's a song in here somewhere...
Anyhow.
1: Do you pay your 15 bucks a month?
2: Outside of this little bit of "drama", are you having FUN on this server?
If the answer to both of these is "yes", I can sum this up in two sentences.
To hell with them. Play your own game. -
I haven't got a freaking clue who my father would resemble in comic book lore. If you asked me to give him a super power, I'd say "Work Ethic".
This is a guy who was born in 1940 and pretty much was working from the time he was old enough to get a job. The first of 13 kids (Grandma never quite mastered her "I have a headache" birth control power), he wound up helping support his family from his mid teens until he got married at 30.
And, luckily he married a woman with super strength. My mom could pinch pennies so hard that you'd hear muffled screams of agony from the bas relief of Abe. Just don't get her mad. She can make the Hulk look like someone OD'ed on Prozac.
And given that my father was pretty much unconnected in the mob^H^H^union that he worked in (last hired, first fired... ALWAYS), and they would strike regularly, that came in VERY handy. In all save a few TRULY dire situations, neither my brothers, nor I had any inkling about how truly tight money was around our house.
Still, my parents provided a relatively lavish lifestyle for us. Field trips, band, Boy Scouts, summer activities, vacations damn near every year.r
All from a man who'd work his 40-60 hour weeks, then come home, eat, and go out to side jobs as a handyman for another 20-30 hours a week.
I only inherited a weak version of his work ethic. So I only put in 50-60 hour weeks. But my vacations are working vacations DAMMIT! Still, if I had either of my parents' work ethic, I'd be a trillionaire right now.
Now my father isn't the most emotionally demonstrative person. Granted, in a house of 13 kids, he never got a really good role-model for that sorta thing. But I never, EVER felt unloved.
My father even took up camping (an activity he didn't really care for) so I could go on the father-son outings with Scouts. Heck, I may have put in some work on my Eagle Scout, but I had a HELL of a lot of help. Lots of assistance from my father and a periodic boot in the *BLEEP* from my mother to "Just do it!" to help me get there.
In short, I respect the hell out of the man. And he knows that I do. Though, if he truly understood the magnitude, he'd probably be embarassed.
I dunno. Maybe Batman (out there just doing it, every...freakin'...day), except without all the dark and angsty stuff...or the crazy-prepared stuff. Lord knows my brothers and I were crazier than anything the Joker could come up with... -
Again, if the mission is in the MIDDLE of a non-farm-oriented arc, it's not a farm.
If farmers have to slog (sorry for the perjorative) through a bunch of non-farm content to get to a farmable mission in an MA arc, they'll simply move on to greener pastures. -

2: It's uncertain if there really is a NEED for double-XP weekends anymore. What with patrol XP, XP curve smoothing, etc, the only way you're NOT making XP hand over fist NOW is just NEVER playing.
[/ QUOTE ]
The way I see it, aside from the direct effect of speeding up levelling, there's a publicity function in double XP weekends.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's also a great time for load testing the servers (probably not something they wanna do until they fix some of the instabilities from the last patch.
Additionally, it's a good data mining tool for them too.
[ QUOTE ]
It encourages existing loyal players to play more, and creates a sort of festive atmosphere. It entices previous players to come back to the game. It creates activity and buzz.
[/ QUOTE ]
This too.
=)
[ QUOTE ]
So I predict we'll continue to see double XP weekends in the future. When they might be, though...that's anyone's guess. I'm guessing we'll see one somewhen after the launch of the next issue - between Issue 15 and 16.
But that's just a guess.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure they will, eventually. I just don't think it's going to happen in the immediate future.
*Begins cleaning shoes in case they somehow swing a date with my mouth* -
"How does Patrol XP compare to Double XP? 1.5X to 2X?"
Well, Patrol XP provides more universal access to people (on their schedules) than a DXPW does.
Granted, with Patrol XP, you can't graft your backside to a chair for 48-72 hours and pull it the entire time. But this is merely another way of saying Patrol XP is easier on casual players.
"Don't they turn off Patrol XP during double XP weekends?"
Yes, as you noted, Patrol XP is disabled only during the double XP weekend. This is the sole exception for Patrol XP being universally available.
"So Double XP now just means an extra 0.5 XP"
That's a big fat 10-4 good buddy. And since you can pick up and use your Patrol XP whenever you have it, ask yourself if not having that extra .5 is REALLY hurting you. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just want to know when the double xp weekend is coming up so I can take some time off work...couldn't find it on the site....I think they usually do it in mid July....anybody know?
[/ QUOTE ]
And now, for a simple, fairly complete answer.
1: We don't know when the next one is. One has not been announced.
2: It's uncertain if there really is a NEED for double-XP weekends anymore. What with patrol XP, XP curve smoothing, etc, the only way you're NOT making XP hand over fist NOW is just NEVER playing.
3: Ignore the people screaming "Learn to search!". They have a point, unfortunately, instead of trying to be helpful anyhow, they decided to just rag on you. Essentially they have nothing better to do that forum-pvp and it's not worth the effort of responding. -
[ QUOTE ]
I should warn you, stone/fire, pre-granite is squishie
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure you've got more experience than me, but I'm currently levelling a Stone/Fire. Not sure "squishy" is the proper term. Indeed, if feels tougher than my Inv/SS did at that point (mostly because my defense numbers aren't yo-yo-ing all over the place.
Granted, I'm common IO'ed at 27, but the only things that've really hurt me thus far were the damn Ghost Ship spirits.
And that's with no Brimstone, Crystal, or Minerals.
So I'm not sure exactly how much more awesome Granite is going to be. More defense, sure. And some more resist. But I'm tearing up groups of 10-15 right now and my health bar barely moves (wish I could say the same about the End bar). -
This problem appears to have started post-update this week.
Hopefully the devs will have it repaired as of the next patch. -
[ QUOTE ]
It seem to me you don't know anything about this.

Excuse you. I wasn't talking directly to any one fix. Nor was my intention anything other than straight humor.
Next time, please request humor tags before some halfassed attempt at telling people off. -

so an AARF (Actually A Requested Fix)

*A* fix was requested, but not necessarily the fix given. -

[ QUOTE ]
One thing that comes up in this forum fairly often is the disparity between red and blue side markets, and the idea of merging them into a single market to "fix" the villain supply problem. While this is a worthy goal, it's often shot down on the grounds that such a merge would be a more or less cataclysmic event, and people who have a lot of expensive things listed stand to lose, big time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which TOTALLY didn't happen when MA was released.
Oh wait...
there's no valid argument against a merger that doesn't involve magic ponies or squishy nonsense like "It would ruin my RP fantasies!"
Anything less than full and equal access to the same market for both factions is a pointless half-measure that won't get my support.

You could have kindly told him "How about I do you one better, I'll give you the secret to a near endless supply of influence that requires minimal effort, no farming, and works while you aren't even playing the game!"
I'd have probably asked for a nominal fee for providing such useful information, but that's me.

I've seen infomercials for stuff like this....

I wouldn't classify Grav/ as "bad". It's not an EASY primary. But it's eminently workable. And once you get Singularity, things become vastly easier.
I too would vote for /Kin. -

My Beavis (Fire/Fire/Fire) blaster has been frankenslotted since 30.
While he doesn't have much in the way of nifty set bonuses, he just puts out damage like a madman and running down his endurance takes some serious effort. I just need to be careful with him in situations where he's attacking things he CAN'T kill in a couple quick spams of his attack chain.
Soloing EBs, save in a couple special cases, isn't even a challenge. -
