Quote:Well the German Trailer was up at ComingSoon a couple of weeks ago. Had more Banner and the end had Stark saying something to Thor instead of Banner.
YouTube
Is it just me or is there some cognitive dissonance from seeing Captain America speaking German? -
Quote:Well, to be honest, they refactored the WL trial for the team up teleporter. It just an re hash of the last few years with a few little thing to buy with candy canes. Oh yeah and the use of LFG tool for attacking Lord Winter..which work as well as some folks point out. Not well.
The focus of the content team seems to be on more paid content and the Itrials now. Not updating fun special events to keep them updated.
Just not a fun holiday this year in Paragon. *sigh*
That, in itself probably took a bit of work. So we'll see what they add next year. -
Actually an interesting costume concept.
+1 -
Longer missions with multiple objectives, time limits, etc.
No. Actually they added the "gimmicks" because they needed some way to be able to deal with 12-24 heroes. Not because it makes the trial tougher.Quote:That's not what they do on the Trials - they throw those dreaded "gimmicks" at us instead - because players had brought it up quite often that AV fights could sometimes be kinda flat because they were sometimes just huge sacks of HP - so the devs took that feedback onboard, and gave us Trial AVs with special attacks and moves instead of just more HP.
All the Trial AVs are way weaker HP-wise than Reichsman, because that's what we asked for.
The reading comprehension is not strong in this one...Quote:So solo content should only be soloable by certain ATs and builds?
Quote:Telling players they're getting a solo path, but then making parts of it need a team would be kinda missing the point

Again, you're basing your opinions (as that's all they are) on how the game operates NOW. As if it were impossible that the devs are going to introduce new systems.Quote:Also, as far as failing goes, it's hard to fail a story arc, even if you fail on a single mission of the arc - like rescuing someone before the timer runs out - if you rescue them, the story arc continues, but it also continues even if you fail to rescue them - the contact just has slightly diffrent text, then hands you the next mission - and while players accept failures on Trials, I don't think they'd be quite so accepting about failing story arcs, and then having to start them all over again.
That's a hell of a blind spot you got there girl. -
Quote:This. She's not an exact clone. She was modified in a few ways, and being brought to term in a surrogate mother might've also affected her development. Also, Daken has two claws coming from the top of his hand and one coming out underneath from his wrist, so there is evidence of variance in claw placement within those from his bloodline who share the same mutation.
-
Quote:Incorrect. Sitting here with the origin story in hand right now.As i recall X-23's foot blades were a procedure done by the engineers/surgeons during her development that involved removing one claw from each hand and implanting it in a foot.
It was 2 claws in the hand and one in the foot. Always. They didn't "rearrange" her. -
How're you doing HP-wise?
Honestly, I'd just go Spiritual and call it done. -

Quote:Tasks designed for 1 player can't be as complex as tasks designed for 2 or more, Trial enemies are between 2 and 6 levels higher than the DA enemies, and it's hard to fail through a lack of teamwork when you're solo.
I disagree. They can be every bit as complex. Simply in different ways.
As for the level of the enemies. Okay. So they're bigger, fatter sacks of hit points. Woo.
I think Reichsman has proved that simply throwing umpty-bajillion more HP at us to beat down doesn't really make it "harder".
As for it being hard to fail through lack of teamwork when solo. Think about that for a sec. If the content is fail-able, and you fail it because you're unable to handle it alone, technically you've failed through lack of teamwork.
And no, I'm not going to give a more serious answer here. You're not interested in a serious answer. You're just here to spew irrelevance and PL your post count. -

From the desk of Carl Cheatum, Dewey, Cheatum and Howe.
Sir,
It has come to the attention of my client (Ripoff Ventures, LLC), that you have proposed to use a business method SPECIFICALLY patented by them.
As such, they are suing you for one hundred billion Inf.
After which time, if you wish to utilize their business method, you will need to pay them 137.5% of all revenue taken in, before tax, market fees, etc.
If you do not cease and desist immediately, my client has authorized me to release their Brute squad to track you down, beat you into submission, and then haul you into court.
Yours faithfully,
Carl Cheatum. -
Which is partially what people are griping about. The out-of-play effort it takes to assemble teams (especially on some servers, and on a trial-specific basis (BAF, Lambda, Keyes, UG, etc)) can be outrageous.
And rewarding us for sitting on our hands waiting just to queue up is nonsensical.
If they're doing time vs reward, it should be time played.
I beg to differ. Exactly how hard is a BAF or Lambda when you throw 2-3 teams of 50+3's at it?Quote:and they have tougher challenges on them
Can you REALLY say it's more dangerous than some level 50 or 50+1 running around soloing?
I think not.
But you're not really rewarding coordination or teamwork. Especially in BAF and Lambda, and Keys is arguable. Again, time vs reward.Quote:the DA enemies are 50-54, and the Trial enemies are 54+ - solo content also doesn't requie the amount of co-ordination and teamwork that group content does
I call BS. You (Golden Girl) have no clue if the upcoming solo/small-teams content is going to be less complex, less difficult or less able to be failed.Quote:and because it's less complex and difficult, there's less chance of solo challenges being failable.
Please stop putting forth your suppositions and preferences as authority on the subject. It's not. -
Quote:Hey everyone,
I've just started playing CoH last week and already wished I'd discovered this game earlier. I've been a Mutants and Masterminds RPG player but only played World of Warcraft as an MMO before.
A few friends have joined me and we started our own Supergroup on the Villain side of Infinity. We picked this server because some of us played a MUD with the same name in the nineties.
I understand that the game is ageing and past it's prime but we're having a lot of fun robbing banks in Paragon City and will stick around at least for the next few months.
I've made this post to see who's is active on the forum for this server and to get some advice on how to proceed. Currently our characters are still in the 1-15 level range as we only started after Chistmas. Any suggestions on what to do and such are welcome.
I've watched the [help] channel a bit, as it seems to be used to form group for higher level content as well, but a lot of the acronyms are a mystery to me. I've always been very active in groups and raids when I played WoW. I can find what is available from the paragon wiki, but I'd like to know what is actually being played on this server and how and when I can join.
Okay, not an Infinity player. But several should be along in short order to point you at several of Infinity's public channels.
Help really isn't meant to be used the way it is. However, with the chat restrictions on freebie accounts, it's been co-opted for that. Hoping the devs can do something about that in a future update.
As for the various acronyms:
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Acronyms
As for what's being played when, I'll let one of the Infinity regulars give you the skinny on that.
Also note that some cross-server community events happen as well. Like Tanker Tuesdays. These are opportunities to meet people from other servers, play with them, and tank the hell out of any and everything.

Okay a few things.
Powers order needs some SERIOUS tweaking. You essentially have ONE attack until you reach level 20 (15 when exemping). BAD! Maybe not if you're spending all your time grinding in Incarnate trials, but after that you have problems.
Resist Energies and Elements can be taken a LOT later.
KB resist IOs are virtually useless for you. Anything that can knock you on your *** with your native protection/resistance is not going to blink at an extra 4 points.
Drop Boxing. Don't get rid of it, just don't use it. You have enough attacks to form a seamless chain already. And those slots can be used elsewhere.
Drop Unstoppable. You're never, ever going to use it. And if you actually do, it's not going to save you.
You're concerned with the Incarnate soft-cap. But you're ignoring the fact that not all the Incarnate trials are throwing out S/L as their primary damage type. And E/N/F/C aren't capped.
Honestly, if you go into a crowd with a 45% softcap, at 10 enemies, you'll be near enough to the Incarnate soft-cap that it won't make any difference.
Here's a non-Hami-O, non-PVP-IO version of my current build.
Take a look at it in comparison to your build and notice that it's built with essentially the same things yours is, the power order is fairly different.
The build, is ridiculously tough at 50, and it's absolutely crazy at lower levels.

Quote:I honestly could care less about what Tom chooses to worship. It's none of my business, and he could be praying to dung beetles for all I care.True, Tommy Cruise is following some wacky religious stuff...but its not much more far fetched than what most believe in already. Weird as it is...its not R Kelly weird. As long as Tom is still doing a good job acting and not peeing on minors, Ill go check his movies out.
It's his abrasive nature, whackoid evangelism, and general public conduct that push me to not reward him with my entertainment dollar. -
Quote:Because, as the devs have said, it's no longer "Risk vs Reward". It's now "Time vs Reward".Here's an interesting counterpoint; Why should they reduce the rewards if the challenge is on the same level, requiring a similar ammount of time, as adjusted to the smaller team min/max requirement?
No. No I did not. I said the raid CULTURE is a disease. The content itself is (mostly) okay and can entertaining on a limited basis.Quote:One person mentioned that 'raid' content is a disease.
But the pressure to grindgrindgrind for advancement, coupled with ever more egregious cheat mechanics and narrowing of what constitutes an "acceptable" participant is pathological.
Which is essentially what we have right now if you want to make any sort of realistic progress in the Incarnate system. Hence my labeling it an aberration.Quote:I beg to differ. I think FORCED 'raid' content is a disease. -
Having loose bowel syndrome and no toilet paper while the toilet is backing up with your buttcheeks crazy glued to the toilet seat and the water's been turned off, plus the fact that all you've been eating for the last two days is chili.

Yeah. He's a piece of work...
Still, I kinda like the metaphor of what more or less happened here.
New PR Guy: Will you PLEASE give us the accounts that belong to us?
Butthead: Well, you're going to have to make it worth my while.
New PR Guy: Or I could just announce you're being a jerkoff to the internet.
*Cue picture of kaiju falling over one another to go after Butthead*
Butthead: *Meekly* I give! HERE! Take them! Take them! PLEASE! -
Sorry. And I know my opinion on this isn't very popular or very tactful. But I consider raid culture in an MMO an aberration. A social disease. No ifs, no ands, no buts.
I don't mind casual raiding as the mood takes you. But the emphasis for any sort of meaningful progression on more than one character is on the "grind your brains out" method. -
Quote:Honestly, I think that's a bit punitive. When things are all said and done, there's going to be the ability to general 8-10 Emps a day, roughly 40-60 Astrals a day, and gobs and gobs to loose threads. But the rewards would have to be less (3 astral merits a day, 1 emp merit every 2 days or something).
Limiting small-team/solo to 1 every 2 days? Uh. Nooooo. I don't think so.
If there are multiple small-team/solo "events" that allow said players to earn somewhere between 1 and 3 Emps a day (total), a couple astrals (apiece) and awards astrals at the end if you run over your Emp allotment, and you can pick up stray threads here and there.
I'd say leave it this way and let the players construct/buy their own salvage, rather than getting possible Incarnate salvage drops, and we can lose all the ******** and moaning about "I get nothing but craptastic salvage drops from the RNG".
This way, solo/small-team players can afford to purchase a rare in 3-7 days and a VR in 10-30 days. This is slower than raiding, especially for players on the sunny side of the RNG drops. But the progress is still steady and not "Build your T4's for everything by going the Shards-to-Threads-And-Build-Everything-From-Threads route slow.
The devs need to stop punishing people who can't maintain a "raid your brains out" lifestyle. -
It could be the greatest movie in the history of motion picture and I wouldn't go to see it.
Let's just say that I find no reason to renumerate Tom Cruise for any of his whack-job antics of the past decade or so. The only way I'll see him in a film again is accidentally. -
Gratz Kyo!
*Drops into pesty mother/mother-in-law mode*
So when are you going to get a sidekick?

At this point, I'm willing to label this a problem with the Windows Vista/7 driver system, rather than just a problem intrinsic to either nVidia or AMD.
To be honest, Windows device management is dumber than hitting yourself with a bag of hammers.
All sorts of nasty, inappropriate "power saving" features in Windows tend to trip off when they're not supposed to and worse, when they're WILDLY inappropriate.
Like network card power savings. I've had Windows Power Management shut down a NIC in the middle of a sustained file transfer, killing the transfer. Worse, for sustained database connections, it's like sticking your finger in a cigar cutter...It shuts down in the middle of a transaction and, if you're lucky, your app just crashes. If you're not, the DB connection dumps corrupt data into the table.
