Because while we're making these nifty new travel powers they are designing new content, SSA content, revamping zones, cranking out costume packs and new powersets and fixing bugs. They've prioritized and this is how things are. *shrugs*
Though there is the possibility of using something like an overlay for use with those powers.
Simply have all powers be cycled threw a couple of different animations tuned to each movement power.
Like the new coyote power have all melee attacks be something like a tackle maul all ranged a breath blast.
Even extending it further to have animations for cone and AOE (Howl?) to be individual.

Another option is to treat each movement power like a Kheldian transformation with dummy attacks tied to each one.
Something like having a no damage auto knockdown for basic mobs.
Just a handful of caned animations tied to each one that can be activated on command or click.
It would be much more interesting than just run powers by them selves.

    Examples would be:
    Coyote howl
    Hoverbord 360 trick
    Magic carpet barrel roll
    Walk runway turn
Heck walk could have most of the emotes run from it with out having to drop that stance.

Going of on a tangent, having a way to have a toon drop back into a chosen stance after attacking rather than just going back into the normal default would be nice.

I always wanted a electric aura that rather than zapping of in all directions sort of adhered to the body. The only reference I can think of is DBZ's higher levels of super monkey.

In all seriousness, this is a great story - I love these kinds of tales about funny moments in game history. Thanks for sharing!
How much trouble would it be to put a version like that in the revamped Dark Astoria?

We also treat each powerset as its own specialized case, and make sure the visuals are appropriate for its mechanics. To put it simply, attacks should look damaging and painful. Buffs should look protective and rejuvenating. Mez attacks should look like they're inhibiting the target.
And energy blast should look... bubbly? I 'v heard that energy's fx was imported from a failed water power concept. And well it looks it. Or at least it doesn't look like what a indiscriminate energy blast of epic power should look like. More like... don't know. It really doesn't fit with any them I can think of.

Sounds crazy to me. But remember all those people complaining about a lack of a solo path to incarnate.
  8. Need to also think about increasing the range of taunt powers hard to manipulate opponents in some of the really big crowds.
And consider the ability to turn them off without disabling the defensive powers there attached to.
These become major issues in trials.

Maybe consider making one of the future incarnate sets bases around individual ATs.

Ok one thing I've though about a few times over the years. You know those Halloween masks the ones that we collect and are supped to look like cheep plastic masks held on with string.
Those. I what those. Actual where-able versions of those.
And a bunch of other ones who. A series of quickly made makes, and maybe other peaces, that span the with and depth of the COH world. All sorts of fake-ish versions of the parts we would normally never be allowed to have.
I know were not allowed to have signature peaces but a series of sill caricature versions of them should be alright.

I'd also like someway to show off our collected souvenirs. Like holding on to a beaker or basket ball and hitting or shooting enemy with that. Even serious things like Gems or magic wands all sorts of things.

Or maybe a nice space themed set to coincide with the once promised space station zone. :P

We're zeroing in on a theory here, and I guess it's this: when you get a whole TEAM of brightly-colored folks on screen, it starts to strain credulity for the mainstream movie audience. So one hero: okay. But a group of differently-colored super characters tends to get into rainbow territory and remind people of the Voltron force or other traditionally kid-friendly material.

That alone may not turn off a mainstream audience, but combine that with a weak or silly story and it breaks the willing suspension of disbelief. I think that's more or less what going on with the average movie-goer right now. Interesting, the longer they're exposed to the bright colors, the less it'll probably bother them, and eventually, we'll probably be able to have parity between the comics and films without fear of alienating the audience.

I think the logic behind bright colors is that there supposed to be living targets. To draw attention away from the civilians. Works great if you only have one or two guys like that. But to many and...

And it goes without saying, or maybe it doesn't that the colors can be as bright as you whant as long as the FX/super attacks are even flashier.
I'v bin wanting some mahou shoujo lyrical nanoha, Dog Days, or My-otome anime style magiteck super gear/FX for a while.
    What? Manga are comics to.

So there will be something fog like? Seriously even if it douse look fake it's still nice. You could always add to the fiction that the fog is some kind of illusion, spell, or curse that's inhibiting your sight. It wouldn't have to be be that accurate.
Or you could create a field effect like a non square high rez version of what's in ****craft. That would add more detail.
Or add a distance effect centered around the player. Visible only to each individual player. That blends the border of the "fog". That would limit the system requirements. It would just be like an oversized aura.

Because blade is all action and none of that emo #$%# that everybody seems to want to love. I'd probably work if they swiped about half of his years and make him a winy teenager. :P

Maybe. Maybe not. Most likely there concerned that the new stuff will, while being fundamentally similar, still be very different than what they have come to know and love. There not willing to risk what they have for what might be. You might what to consider making a batch of test textures. And thin see what people think. You might get different results.

I wonder why we can't have both looks. Like have the lower level one have the old look and the higher ones the new.
In fact this might be something to think about for many new looks. Have them start off as looking simple and old like the rookies are wherein hand me downs and save the new bad assish for the top dogs.

What about a nice cheesy out of character web-comic. That could be fun and entertaining.

They don't differentiate upper and lower body animations, so all the animations on Snakes and Talons are customly done. They are complete custom rigs from head to toe.

99.9% of the attack animations wouldn't work. It's one of the very few things Posi has to say no to.
What about making it as part of a specific power set. Like a Kheldian transformation. Having a branching beast power (Transformation) set would be cool. Serpent strangle (Serpent form). Diving eagles talon (Humanoid and or Avian form form.)

But what we can do is something more like this." So the designers change it so it will work.

The other answer is marketing; you have to strategically release information so it makes the biggest splash."
Don't you think we would like to add suggestions to an idea as well. It's much easier to do at the initial design faze than after it's bin mostly coded.
And if we knew more about how or why something didn't work we might be able to find more ways around the problem.
You have some very smart and creative people here. Why not use all the talent you have access to. Instead of just bits and pieces of it.

Marketing is only us full for attracting new customers. But your Posting to, say a VIP only section (with a non disclose request) of the forum where everybody already has paid there 30 silver, there should be no problem.

Just remember to put somewhere visible that all things inclosed is not subject to inclusion to the game.
  21. Needs pictures. Not necessarily a seen by seen depiction but just something so that we can attach faces to the names. I mean there's a huge amount of toons in this game. It can be hard to keep them strait or remember them. And when you're reading something you really need them and there backgrounds to snap into your head at a moments notice or it interferes with your reading and the story.

Seriously and with all due respect, I know that the current art team sees things that they would have designed differently if they had done it, but we're at a point where the game now has a history and a legacy for long-time players.

Look at what DC is going through online right now as they prepare to overhaul the looks of their characters with their planned September relaunch/retcon/reboot/non-reboot (depending on the title and who you talk to) because of how much they're changing some characters from their known looks. Superman in blue jeans and a t-shirt in flashbacks isn't exactly winning hearts and minds of long-time fans on the internet. Neither is the "armored" look he's going to have for modern stories.

And be careful who you approach about Harley Quinn's new look.

It's a case of fixing things that aren't really broken. Updating costumes would have worked, but there are a lot of people think that DC went too far into the 90s Image design vault for the changes.

In a lot of ways, that's what many people here are going to be concerned about. I think that's where people were at with the CoT stuff we saw. At this point, the looks of all these groups are established for the people who have been here a while. Why change it any of it so much? Update it. Make it higher-res. Streamline it if needed. But drastic changes to existing NPCs and factions? Probably not a good idea.

So yeah... at this point it would take far less time to tell you the ones that don't have the right feel, and to be honest, there aren't many of them IMO.
Unless you can give valid storyline resins for the changes. Like the Freekshow starting to employing Riki and Aracnios tech. And only the boss and those he trusts get it at first. Or the COT capturing a fighter type hero and draining his life force to fuel new combat abilities. A couple of good stories in there.

And isn't Positron supposed to be an incarnate or something?
I'd like to see a new armor for him something like modified versions of the difference costume set under-suit with paneling replacing fabric like aria incarnate gloves and boots but more understated and techy with crystal lens emitters projecting the aura and his signature tron lines pulsing at the seams. Like he created his own version based on his previous suit. And a new version of his signature visor across his eyes. Always thought that he looked kind of neked without his helmet.
I mean Iron man changes his armor like one a week but Posi's bin wearing the same pants for years.

See edited image for rough example.

FX worked out best on the boot. The eddied arm is just for the changes to the armor.

Even if you don't update Posi I would like those pieces for my selfe.

Still I hope you don't mind if I leave it, mostly, in that format instead of trying to re-write it.

What about if he had bits of debri stuck in him rocks and stuff. Hunks of the ground ripped off from his eruption from below. Better than him just appearing and ties into the Pratoren story. Maybe a rikti skeleton or two. From being digested. (Hero's might be to much they would have long bin digested from the time he first appeared but the Riki tie into the previous TF.) This would have the added effect of giving some of us a blasted place to stand while attacking his little bits.
Hop attacking? Never fun. Don't really need even need anything like a path to the ground normal travel powers should get most up there. Just need platforms to do the work on.
Have it after a second or two crash to the ground upon defeat. Heavy damage for anyone under it. Mid damage to anyone around the impacts. A lot of dust. Add one last little challenge to the raid.

Could also use a FX that represented the drag caused by hammys squishie filling. Have to realy think it threw to realize that it's not just a random addition to make the raid harder but a story/character aspect.
