  1. I was reading something elsewhere and thinking about the upcoming supergroup revamps, and an idea occurred to me for a cool new Veteran Reward, or perhaps a Booster: the Signal Flare.

This power requires membership in a supergroup, and it can only be fired when a character is in a mission and in less then 50% health. The Signal Flare is an animation that projects a 3-D hologram of the character's SG in SG colors (basically the same rotating image in the base item hologram) either to the roof if indoors, or up to 100 feet up in an outdoor mission.

If someone in your SG shoots off a signal flare, you will get a text message stating that the Signal Flare is up. It will tell you who sent the flare and asks if you will answer the call. If you do, you join the team at the member's level and are teleported to the nearest mission door instantly. You cannot answer the Signal from inside your own mission, on a TF, or in a AE mission.

This power would not work in PvP zones or cooperative zones.

    sonova...

I've been getting those e-mails for WoW for weeks now. Which is hilarious, given that I've NEVER played WoW before.
  3. The nerdrage over those changes in CU and CoX have the same primal root. Don't know what's happening over at CU, but I will say that if I were running that show, I'd look long and hard at the effect sweeping changes I introduce into an active game have on the community, for better and for worse.

I still think ED was a good way to go... making the mechanics out and visible (and Inventions) really improved CoX wonderfully.
  4. Champion was the first server I picked, because a friend was on it... but he's one of these folks who tries EVERY new MMO obsessively, and then gets wanderlust. When he left, I started getting regular teaming on Victory and stayed there for awhile. Had a falling out with a majority of the cool kids, and decided to move a few toons to another server. This seemed like the place. I met Marut and the members of Earthguard on my second day back here and decided I belonged on Champion. Been here lovin' it ever since.

    Champions united

I was there when this happened. I'm in a bunch of Champion globals, such as BMT, Alliance, and CU. I don't agree with this. I can definitely understand why it's upsetting to you. But in fairness, I don't think any wrong was done.

The reason forums have Moderators and channels have Ops is because every community has it's own standards. I have also felt Cobalt's tap on my shoulder when topic drifted. It began with a tap, a request, and I honored it... after all, that's not my channel. I've never been intentionally silenced in BMT and I hope I never will.

My take on channel Op-ing and Moderating is the less you do, the better things are... but that's not everyone's style, which is why channels have Ops, determining the content for each one. I prefer CU's rules to BMT's, but as BMT is a lot larger and has more to manage, I especially sympathize with Cobalt silencing before the problem gets a lot worse.

Any of the Ops there have the right to suspend, just as Ops on CU have that same right. The less done of it, the better IMHO, but that's for the Ops to decide. If you want to work within a community, just play by the rules. For your own community, make rules you feel are fair for Elf... but you can't expect someone else to adopt your attitude unless you win 'em over. Try that!
  6. You're the best server ever. Champion... I love you.

I'm so glad I came here from Victory years ago. Happy as a clam with my Champion buddies. For all the negatives and silliness, there are such ridiculously huge positives on this server, and I love y'all.

That's all I wanted to say. Carry on, or if you have similar Champion love, feel free to say it right here.

P.S. Also, Freedom is awfully spiffy, Turg.
  7. Dual Blades / Willpower / Body Mastery Stalker.
  8. I have a KROQ CD at home that has some great bits, like Johnny Cash reminding folks not to kill on Christmas, but accepting that Elmo and Patsy perhaps deserve to die. There's also "Henry Winkler's Holiday Wish" and recurring character Michael the Maintenance Man's "Me and Mrs. Clause"...

I think my favorite subversive thing is Jill Sobule's cover of "Merry Christmas From The Family" or perhaps "Fairytale of New York" by Kristy McCall and the Pogues. My favorite all-time Christmas song is Nat King Cole's version of "The Christmas Song". I dubiously laugh at every remake.

There are no benefits, it is boring, and the players who do it are way to often juvenile.
I tried, for the longest time, to get Dirty to base raid with his own supergroup. I think they would have had so much fun and maybe built themselves to a point where they could feel confident in challenging other groups. And with the coordination going on in that SG, they would have rocked it.

Ah, well. Base raiding is not yet perfected. Looking forward to a point where it is...

    Five years

While my actual anniversary with CoH is somewhere in July, I just hit my 5 year mark for monthly payments this month.

I've spent the last few weeks unable to get online because I'm hosting a friend who needs constant care and supervision. I've been doing Facebook games to keep myself busy in the little time I do have to get online. A few days ago, I popped online again, and I was floored by the quality of the grpahic environment and the coolness of my characters, and I fell in love all over again.

Save some Winter Lord for meh! I'll be back Saturday the 19th.

Since Praetoria is not a mirror-universe, just a universe with an alternate timeline, not all Praetorians will need to be opposite-faction. From my understanding of the information given so far, most of the timeline changes occur because of Marcus Cole/Statesman/Tyrant's actions, which happen during the 20th century.

What characters are YOU going to make Praetorian versions of? And what side will they take?
I've sort of already done this.

I have 4 versions of my best-known toon, Ms. Hospitality--

Ms. Hospitality, Empathy/Rad Defender, of this world and timeline.
Hospy, Rad/Rad Defender, Praetorian Earth version of Ms. Hospitality.
Hospitality, Illusion/Empathy Controller, Cimeroran pastlife who has traveled forward.
Hostis, Thugs/Pain Domination Mastermind, Praetorian Cimeroran pastlife.

    Issue 16!!!

It's 10:13 a.m. in Manchester, England, and I show all servers down-- which I'm beginning to think is nonsense, as people would be screaming about not getting on. Did they make some change that shut out Europeans from accessing North American servers?
  14. Something must be wrong. The lights are on, but nobody's home when I try to log in.
  15. Job one is to get my Fire/Kin her red-purple imps.

Job two is to see if it's doable to make Healing a little less green or red between my good and evil Ms. Hospitality clones.

Job three? Oh, I might just have some fun.
  16. It's odd to me that devs put such a small limit on their largest telepad room... a 5 x 5 room is very large, and has ample space for Basic Telepads.

Seems like they should either introduce Advanced Telepads (with connections to up to three beacons) or up the number of Basics allowed in a 5 x 5 to twelve.
  17. The friend who got me into CoH abandoned it for EQ2, then WoW, and every other major MMO that's come (and gone) in the past 4 years. Long ago when CO was announced, he called me up and told me about what new features were advertised. I told him then that I'd stick with CoH as long as I could, but that it would be the first and last and only MMO I'd ever play.

He still calls me up giddy about New Shiny and trying to get me to come over, but I always tell him the same thing: CoH, first, last, always.
  18. Why is it that Secure Teleport Room... a 5 x 5 room... a remarkably big room... caps out at 8 Basic Telepads, maximum?

It's the biggest Transportation room offered. There is ample space to place 11 Basic Telepads and the Raid Telepad. (Heroside, that would be everything.)

Why is there such a frustrating limit on it if it's the largest available room?
  19. My fun Thugs/Pain Domination Mastermind hit level 50 tonight in the Invincible LGTF (2:20, amd we failed nothin') and that means my leveling partner, Tempest., hit 50 too... congrats!
  20. Love this, even if it does kill PLing.

Task forces will no longer have to juggle their loads to let lowbies in. One 50 can take 7 35's on the mission... or (if I'm understanding this correctly) one 35 can exemp 7 49's.
  21. When you prepare to enter an instanced mission as a low-level toon and someone seeing you at the door buffs you with everything the possibly can.

When someone asks, "Need Sally?" with a private tell before hitting her, so that a whole team will get her.
