    Pet Emote Help

Aha, "powerdown" instead of "RobotPowerDown" will work. I think the remaining problem is just that the robots (specifically the tier 2 ones) don't really like to stay in an animation like that when they begin... so instead of functional Stay buttons, I can make a second button for just telling them to stay put. Maybe another button for powerup before they make their first attack of the day...

    Thanks, folks!
  2. I tried to download the new Mids update, but it failed. Tried again running it as Administrator, but again it failed. Tried just loading it from scratch... still failed. Anyone had a success story yet?

Ah.... didn't work, I guess the e-mote doesn't connect for them... does anyone know where I can find a list of emotes pets (specifically robots) can use?

    Pet Emote Help

    I could use some help...

I'm trying to make a button do three things, if possible: put my Robots in Stay mode, tell them in the local channel they're to stay put, and to have them do the "Robot Power Down" emote.

First of all, I don't know if robots can even *do* Robot Power Down-- can anyone confirm or deny?

I copied the hand-up Stay button into my tray from the pet tray, and then altered it. I've tried to enter this:

local SUPPORT UNITS DISENGAGE.$$ petcom_all Stay$$ petsay_all em "Robot Power Down"

But when it gets to Robot Power Down, it all falls apart. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
  5. I guess I'm the first to report signs of 'mayorly' activity...

Cherry was instrumental in helping me get my forum name change. Thanks, Mayor Cherry!
  6. Since the mean kids have all left.. well, mostly... I'm back to being Hospy here.

    Thanks for your attention.
  7. Congratulations! Now go be mayorly!

    Heh!

Pass along for me that if he or anyone in his tribe wants a complete set of the Official Handbooks (game version, with all the updates), I'm sellin' mine.
  10. I humbly accept any nomination offered for Czar of Drama.

  11. I vote for Si. Six times and stuff.

My friends and I *did* graduate to the far-superior Advanced Marvel FASERIP system. But this was my where we started. I haven't seen a rulebook for V&V in years, but occasionally I think about that Peter Dee art and "Crisis at Crusader Citadel"...

  13. Years and years ago, when I was just becoming a teenager, I got a pen-and-paper superhero game called 'Villains & Vigilantes', and I made my first superhero, Lascota. I mutated his name from the fashion company Lacoste, after seeing their name on a tennis match; I was looking for something 'vaguely African'. Lascota, as it turns out, is a real name, and ver' Francais!

I gave this initial version of Lascota weapons and really cheesily stacked powers. Lots of speed, wall-crawling, senses, and awareness. Probably very Jedi-riffed, without looking, sounding, or smelling like something "Darth". The concept was kid-Flash crossed with kid-Wolverine crossed with kid-Spider-Man. With a Jack Russell Terrier thrown in for good measure.

As the years go by, the comic book industry grows up with The Dark Knight Returns (and Elementals Volume 2 Issue 15). Lascota's mythology is updated and changed. I see him as invisible, too, but not super-strong. When I thought of him, I now imagined him as a little unbalanced, completely unable to socialize because of his dependency on Invisibility, and perhaps aging too fast due to his advanced speed.

Five + years ago, my buddy Jason invites me to play City of Heroes, an MMO he RAVES about. I join (on the release of Issue 2), make the Martial Arts/Regen Scrapper fellow you see above on Victory, and have a ball. But something's missing. Later, I make a Super Reflexes version that I play all the time, but I find myself wanting to use weapons. I consider making him a stalker, and when Dual Blades and Willpower comes out, I consider making him one of those. Goes nowhere over years.

Fast-forward to the day Going Rogue is announced. I make a renewed effort at a Dual Blades/Willpower Stalker. Managed to get him to 42 before Going Rogue was released. Late last night, running on a BMT of Champion team doing Maria Jenkins via Oro, I hit 50 just a few minutes after my team and I dent Tyrant's head but good.

I just wanted to thank my buddy Bob, my Earthguard SG mates, and all of my allies and all of the people who took a hand in to helping me get this childhood dream properly realized.

Well, at least until CoX2 includes wall-walking...

    X-Men Fans...

I would rather they completely began over the series from the beginning without Fox's involvement. Whatever Mea Culpa from Fox put Singer back in charge, I do not forgive the way Hollywood pee'd all over Marvel mythology because Singer and Fox couldn't come to terms.

  16. I'd be interested. I've got some ninjas redside I can finally bring blueside with a SG a little more in keeping with their theme. Let me know, please.

If they don't come with a basic beginning slot, the way Sprint and Rest do... still... WIN!

If they do, that's basically three less slots I have to buy, and three I can put on those other powers I'll be taking, so, WIN!

If they do something like throw in extra slots as you level up at levels 27, 29, 45, 46, 48, and 50, then that's BONUS WIN!

    Full of win.

There's his trouble: I spent $909.99, and my Ninja Run is awesome.
  19. I promise you, Amily, that I am the worst PvPer I know. And I know some chimps.

I'll occasionally got to RV myself or head there when there's a call to arms, but honestly, the best I can do there is support. I'm not leet. And worse, I take it all too personally.

I did go out PvPing when VORI was around and sometimes that was fun; sometimes, it was really heartbreaking. Teaming with them, I realized that most PvPers are as nasty to friends as they are to enemies, and they mean it the same way: in good fun.

But for me, PvP is an occasional thing... I wouldn't want to park a toon in RV. I'm not built to handle the stress of it.
  20. I really HATE party poopers, but I disagree with giving Thugs something like Swap Ammo... because I think there's a better way to do it.

As a countersuggestion, I recommend they create two new IO categories: Ranged Pet Damage and Melee Pet Damage. They could create two to three sets for either type, and include Fire Damage with DoT bonus, Toxic with DoT and Chance of Choking, and Ice with DoT and Chance of Slow.
  21. I was preparing to run the Tina MacIntyre arc tonight, and it occurred to me that I have to decide whether my team will fight through the Clockwork hordes to get to him, or just skip right to him. And then it occurred to me... for a LOT of bad guys, this ought to be no good.

Is there a way that the code could be set to introduce an event, so that The Clockwork King can basically draw all remaining enemies in an Outdoor map... and cause a Paladin summoning to occur... right in the middle of fighting him?

That would be a great, cross-your-legs-and-squeal moment, to see not a group of level 10 Clockwork assembling a Paladin, but upper-level, psychic Clockwork...
  22. Natch! With a sidecar of chocolate-dipped bacon, Bud.

Vanilla Frosty is just a dirty rumor!
  23. Let's have a sing-a-long. I was thinking "What What" would lighten the mood around here...
  24. This is kind of a two-part suggestion for normal costuming and for Weapon Customization....

Make a series of 'gloves' for Monstrous hands in various archetype styles: Canine (large), Feline (slim), Reptilian, Robot, etc.

Then make 'popped' versions of these claws, so that someone playing a werewolf Scrapper/Tanker/Brute/Stalker will get an animation where the claws extend (takes the same amount of time as the metal claws).

For each of these (except for the Robot hands), instead of the metal-on-metal SNIKT sound, a slight tearing sound.
