  1. "Potential zombie". My careers officer put that on my report.

    Biographies!

    [ QUOTE ]
I will confess I have resorted to the old 'from another planet' cliche on at least one occasion!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    1. "From another planet" (e.g. Superman) is just as valid as any other bio.

    2. The superhero genre is FULL to the brink with cheesey cliches, such as "he's a mutant, and his powers were revealed at the age of X" (X-Men, for example), or "He was somehow caught up in an accident at the lab" (Spider-man, etc). There is no shame in that whatsoever.

    3. If I want to avoid the cheese, I just say why the hero is here and what they do and avoid all mention of their past.
  3. Does it (attempt to) affect just your target or all those taunted?
  4. I think we have a candidate for a new mod.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Which in itself is a little wrong; if anything the lower level ones should be worth more, as they give exactly the same bonus as the high level ones and are more likely to be usable if you exemp down.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh yes, you're absolutely right... what a daft system!

A true cox veteran is someone that plays the game and not sits in the forum posting 1 word comments to padd their post count.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Agree.

That last part being the most ominous quote.[..]

The days of 100mil Inf Recipes may be a thing of the past.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ominous? It sounds as though you're happy with prohibitively expensive enhancements.
  8. Some lighthearted pedantry while we wait...

    http://www.calculatorcat.com/free_ca...ld_clock.phtml

If 1800 GMT = 1000 Pacific = 1300 Eastern then we will get it at 1900 BST / 2000 CET.

Don't forget we're on daylight savings time.

(Prays he got this right, dons tinfoil hat just in case).
  9. How about making the Map marker a darker or lighter shade to reflect the Z axis? i.e. a dim marker would mean that the location is underground, and a pale one would mean that it is high up.

Well, "architect" is an anagram of "that Circe",

    NPC's for Bases

I'll guess some more (these are just guesses and not written in stone so give me a break if they are bad).

    Tech/Arcane/Natural/Science

    1 : Security Guard/Guardian/Bouncer/Cop
    2 : Mechanic/Scholar/Musician/Nerd
    3 : Librarian/Librarian/Librarian/Researcher
    4 : Janitor/Caretaker/Butler/Laboratory Technician
    5 : Student/Acolyte/Agent/Doctor
    6 : Professor/Arch-Mage/Mentor/Genius

    NPC's for Bases

Why can't they be the innocents you rescue?

In a movie they would be the (good) guys who somehow discover your secret ID.

I guess it's the donor or magical helper...?

    Missions

I understand the will to make missions simple. We currently have a system where the things we tend to do in missions, despite the mission text, is kill mobs or click glowies.

The team have done an amazing job of taking complicated and varied mission objectives and putting them into a boring and simple mission routine. I don't mean this as an insult.

I would like to see more complex missions, with more to do. The mission texts are hugely varied, but when put into action it's the same old thing again. It's as though there's a fun-bottleneck.

One example was the mission I had yesterday to get to a victim before the enemy. What does this mean in practice? You guessed it... beat my way through a load of mobs. It wasn't to actually get there before the $enemy_faction_name.

How about spicing up the mission routine and give us more varied things to do (see the mission texts for inspiration ).

I am assuming that things such as Numina's Convalescence are hard to come by.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's right. In my experience the useful lower level recipes & enhancements cost just as much as the higher level ones. People like you come along and just need an any level enhancement to get that set bonus...

Here's some information I've slowly managed to accumulate.

The regular invented set enhancements change in their effectiveness across the levels.

At level 25, normal IOs become better than their SO equivalent.

Some special set IOs (only ever one of a set, I think) have effects which span the whole level range, and low level versions are as effective as higher level ones. These are things like Aegis: Status Protection, or procs, for example.
Because of their effectiveness, they are equally expensive across the whole level range.

  15. Ability to combine ANY 3 inspsirations of one kind, i.e. Large blue, small blue, medium blue would be valid.

Make the resulting insp be as big as the smallest one in the combo.

At the moment the system punishes you for levelling up, as you can get insps of all sizes, whereas at low level at least you knew they would all be the same size.

Also, make wakies available at the arena instead of forcing me to make them from 3 others. Pretty please.
  16. Snow? A giant invisible intangible white tree with tiny white leaves! Run the leaf dropping code on that!
  17. I bet it's a reward... but what's the event going to be? Speculation: hmm... some kind of Snowman invasion, since they like to recycle the Rikti Event Engine, i.e. for Halloween's event.
  18. What's the point making a villain if you're going to end up doing heroic stuff with your enemies?
  19. I don't know if it's been suggested, but how about monster-play as an option? So you can't level the character you control at all, but you do get to fight against the players?

Perhaps offer progress for monster players by giving them tougher monsters/more notorious AVs to control after an amount of time or even a number of players defeated or whatnot?

In order to give players incentive to begin this passage, perhaps offer costume piece rewards or badges (for all their regular characters) for getting up to the top AVs?
  20. Nope. That's not in the description either.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Well you can IO at low levels. I often do with a few Accuracy IOs in the teens,

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is where my disbelief kicks in. How do you afford the components for these "few accuracy IOs"? There has to be something wrong when the components for sub-level 25 Accuracy are cheaper than those for the 30+ Accuracy IOs.

This is, of course, just one example.
  22. The roman cheek guards are attached to the helmet. Without a helmet they would fall of, unless you glued them to your cheeks.

/Yes, this is a silly idea.
  23. I can only hope you intend to take a holiday on Halloween, or at least refrain from taking your gaming quite so seriously for at least few days.

    [ QUOTE ]
What it meant was that I have suggested at least one mechanism which meets all your requirements for destruction, repeatability and loss of services in a zone, but you want it in a City Zone, so it's not good enough. Apparently, what you want is the ability to have a city zone trashed and aren't interested in the other aspects of the concept, so I was wrong.
    [..]

I repeat: your original idea is great for 'rebuilding' a Hazard Zone. I don't know why you feel it must be a City Zone that this is done to, but if you're happy that most of your idea is tossed out to make a cosmetic change only, well then I haven't any practical objection.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps if you read the posts in the thread again, you might note my repeated responses suggesting that the idea can be changed, is flexible, maliable, and that it is not fixed and demanding that it be presented as a solid finalised design.

You seem to have a fixation about it being in a city zone or a hazard zone. I don't really care or mind, and to have it in hazard zones only is perfectly fine.

If you'd read my responses, you might notice that I agree with your idea to spice up a hazard zone, and that the other aspects you mention are good, too. In fact I have suggested a competitive PvE idea before myself (somewhere).
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Practical objection: It would occupy developers who could otherwise be working on something that would add to gameplay rather than being purely cosmetc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
The purpose of the Suggestions board is to give our players a place to let us know what changes they'd like to see made to City of Heroes and/or City of Villains by posting their ideas.

    [/ QUOTE ]

While I agree that there is a limit to the amount of work they can put into the game, it is not our role here to second guess the resources of the developers, merely to post ideas.
  25. I'd like to respond to your points:

The Rikti invasions are a work of genius and are used sparingly they are fine, particularly since players aren't usually in the city zones doing the PvE levelling you mention, rather they are in the instances.

    [ QUOTE ]
What you are proposing would make entire zones unusable for days.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'd say that the zones are usable, but they are devastated, they look a mess. Perhaps this would give players some desire to prevent it happening in the future? Although I mentioned a possible "denial of service" mechanic, I've also stated that the whole idea is flexible and this doesn't necessarily have to be implemented (I know, I really shouldn't have to say that, but pedantry seems to be quite a popular activity here).

    [ QUOTE ]
That said, I'm not claiming to be any form of creative genius, so someone else might come up with a way to make it work in a City Zone. I just doubt anything that work work would satisfy your desires.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I don't understand this. Does it mean anything? Of course, there will always be room for improvement, if that's what you're implying.

    [ QUOTE ]
I don't actually believe NCNC are likely to create another PvP Zone, but Cooperative Zones seem to be flavour of the month.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I agree, though this disappoints me somewhat I can understand the neccessity for maximising the impact of their content patches.
