Quote:Or you go fire/sd and get the best of both worldsYou pick ST because you want to be the guy to kill the AV/EB.
You pick AoE becuase you want to remove all the minions and Lieuts.
Whatever you like better.
ST based toons can solo with bosses turned on, no matter what archtype you choose.
AoE will probably turn bosses off solo. But it depends on your survivability.
An AoE scrapper or tank could probably leave bosses on. An AoE blaster, maybe not, but can run farm missions all day long. So there are plusses and minuses to any build you go for. -
Quote:Depends on the secondary i have my spines/da sitting at 42% s/l if I wanted i could get to 45% with the pvp IO =3%Since your a /da I was assuming you meant resistance instead of defense. Especially since the only defense /da has baked in is from the stealth power. Quite the chore to get 40% with 3.75% being your baseline.
MA can soft cap s/l pretty darn easy even with that 3.5% from COD -

Quote:That is because the end game high dollar investment build makes other sets look lack luster. If you want to fight AV solo as a scrapper shield will put you on top with a large investment; /sr can do it cheaper and quite while. If you want to be a top dog in pylon testing you go shield.Shield Defense. The way some people go on about it you'd think all the other armor sets ceased to exist the day Shields got added to the game.
Shield deserves all the hype it gets if it is built correctly it is great fun and powerful.
The issue is most people in game have no clue on how to build their toons and how to leverage io's etc -
Quote:I have been looking for a fun and good combination for ma, shield seems interesting so far been trying it out, regen seems fun because you get to click more but not sure if its worth the tradeoff compared to shield, since shield gives extra dam while regen mostly gives you health and heals.
Fire well looks flashier, but never tried it yet, seems like it would help mas aoe, but keep in mind I do not mind st sets in fact I am use to it from playing other ats.
Sr seems great in concept but it just does not look all that visually appealing, I have to admit quickness is looking very nice due to martial arts slower recharges, other then that I cannot seeing it being much fun, iffy about click and forget sets as well.
Ele armor, hmmmm seems interesting, you get clickies, secondary effects to enemies, and a recharge power, but lacks in defense and only has one heal, seems a bit squishy, I think fire might be a little better as far as surviving goes.
Anyways this is just from what I have been reading so do not take what I said here seriously, I really just want something fun, interesting, doesnt bloom to late and has a good synergy with ma thanks all.
Almost forgot to say, I do not enjoy super tight builds I prefer to have a nice variety of attacks.
Fire/sd rocks my favorite toon the aoe with Shield charge and Fire circle sword rocks but i also have a very large io investment in the toon.
elec armor what can i say I thought the ride to about 40 was easier on elec but in the high end game I just not been happy compared to Dark, /sr and other sets -
Quote:You would be false sir Dark Armour was the worse set to play until I3 you do realize at one time you could only turn on one toggle at a time for Dark.Yes you heard me right Dark had non stacking armor when all the other sets had stacking armor. So prior to I3 Dark Armor was worse than the blaster secondary. itwas also crappy until the endurance reduction when dark regen base end drain was 50 endurance half off what you where given even back in the 6 slotted stamina days it would drain way to much endurance and cause you issues. Also it did not have endurance drain protection back in the early days either. trust me I had a dm/da I started in I2 and got to 50 in I5 and played him partially threw all the issues up to 50Just popping in here to say two quick things.
Dark Armor has never sucked. Any previous sucking was due to operator error.
Nothing has been done to "fix" Dark Armor since the endurance reduction of the toggles when it was changed so that you could turn all toggles on at once. -
Quote:i did that with one I respec and broke out of retirement and I got the alpha slot then cardiac alpha yea runs real nice.Only one problem I see with your build there. By focusing on melee defense you are opening yourself up to large amounts of defense debuff. Since DA has no DDR at all, anything with a machine gun is going to strip your defense away pretty quickly, many things with machine guns will remove all of it.
If you focused more on S/L defense, you can at least avoid some of that machine gun fire and maintain your defense a little longer. -
It is perfect for what it suppose to all aoe all the time the two button farmer. It is not over hyped if built right is down right awesome now the unfun part while can not argue either way that is a style preference. Plus elec/sd runs way behind dm/ad and fire/sd

Quote:That is what AE farming is for; farm tickets and role bronze roles I was able to get most of my recipes that where going for 30-40 million a pop and I manage another 300 million to help buy one of the purples I wanted selling the recipes I did not want all in about 6 hours of play. I had a lot of solid roles so I do not always make that much that fast just got a lot of lucky rolesOCD sucks sometimes...I really struggle IOing characters because I'm unhappy unless all enhancements within a given power are the same level! For example, at level 30, I turned off XP to try to farm up some Thundergod's sets for my archery blaster. After all was said and done, I now have 3 attacks 6 slotted with the set.

Quote:It does not round up; but you are close enough that the trade off from 44.9 to 45 is not worth the exchangeI have a /DA build that is currently hovering at 44.9% def against Energy/Neg. Energy. I can get it just over 45%, but it will require me using an additional enhancement slot that would have otherwise been used to add in a +end proc in stam.
My question is does 44.9% actually roundup to 45% and so I have nothing to worry about, or if not then is that last .1% going to really make enough of a difference? -

Quote:I changed mine to cremate as well i grown found of the attack I have enough over all recharge to run my chain but i use that attack most often when not fighting AV's etc so i get more bang for my buck in normal game play of running missions and I been extremely happy with that choice.Okies, thanks for the advice.
I really like Cremate so I think I'll put it in there. I understand that Incin is a better attack overall but the DoT annoys me slightly.
Concerning running the chain, I seem to recall from some thread that you need about 85% global rech. (+ Hasten) to run this chain, and good recharge in all your attacks.
I will have both the END and RECH. alpha slots available eventually but I thought I'd go for recharge at first so Shield Charge and FSC can come back even quicker. -
Ok here is an idea of what you want to do I added an attack you can add a purple set in one of your attacks but who ever built your toon did you a disservice they wasted to many slots taking away from your damage for meager returns in survivability even with out the inherent I19 it was a terrible build. You do not need a lot of healing in siphon life it is a bonus to your regen so i concentrated on damage and recharge with that attack it should be a staple in your attack chain.
i also increased your global recharge and got you close to the soft cap of s/l 41.5 defense you can play around with it i threw this together real quick so I may be able to pull out some better options. While anyways this is what you need to think about

I will look it over so far it looks like a lot of things are not done effectively because you lose way to much in damage for what little you gained in survivability with that build

Quote:There where regen & inv scrappers doing it in I2 and I3 and so forth back when regen use to tank Hami and we had perma unstopable for inv. Scrappers use to have 90% resistance cap same as the tanker i think that changed like I4-I5 been a long time ago. Once DA got stacking armor and had mag3 COF they where able to do it because they also generated like 30% tohitdebuff back then and it had a 95% base acc on cof (endurance sucked).Honestly, I don't remember any Scrappers POSTING about soloing AVs until I12, though I certainly could have missed it. Wouldn't surprise me if there was some of it earlier, since it was certainly possible earlier, but I think I12 is when we all suddenly went, "Hey, wait... this is possible! Let's DO this thing!"
So it been going on for a long time now after ED I think Scrappers had issues with just SO and the major nerfs that changed the game. Then IO's came out and brought back the ability to do some things we did in the past -
I soloed a lvl 51 Nightstar on my older fire/sd who was not up to the recharge or dps that I was able to put out in the pylon test. it took a long time but I was able to whittle her down and defeat her. Funny thing I did not even realize she was lvl 51 when I started i had beat her before in another mission and half way through i am like she should be dead by know oh crap she is a lvl 51 oh well. It was a mission in one of the story arcs where you fight two V's in the mission and nightstar is always up front.

Quote:Shred what was you chain for spines and how much recharge was needed I so need that i was thinking of pulling out my spines/da again I think i have a build to get the s/l soft capped it the other part I have not gotten down what attacks for sureSoft cap your defenses to smashing lethal (use a lot of kinetic combat sets.. might even need to stick them in brawl). Get enough global recharge to run an attack chain of Charged Brawl>Havoc Punch>Charged Brawl>Jacob's ladder. Fully slot energize for health and recharge... Stick purple procs in Charged Brawl and Jacob's Ladder. Find an AV that does smashing/lethal damage. Make sure they're level 50.
A big question you may need to ask is whether to run lightning shield or not. You'll get more damage, you'll use more endurance... if you gather minions up to use for fodder for your powersink to get the endurance, then you'd kill them with your lightning shield, so that may not work out so good.
But my vote is a solid yes. It's possible. I base this on my spines/elec av killing experience. Spines has less endurance issues then electric. You've definatly chosen one of the worst scrapper options for AV killing. So you will be limited as to how many you can kill. -
To many 1 slot wonders for me to worry heck I still left one out of one of my builds that i would have liked to keep.
Also I like the no extra slots it makes you have trade offs and make tough decisions
But with things like Conserve power, Physical Perfection, assault, combat jumping recall friend hey stick a kb protection in their free bonus -
I am thinking about reviving my spines/da of old what are some of the better ST attack chains that i can use looking more for EB level but I will take better and the recharge needed
Impale is optional i can skip it if I am better off and going with an epic power
I will have lunge, ripper and throw spines as attacks and of course spine burst but that is not very good for sT
Just trying to get some ideas on what i need to do and recharge I need
Thanks -

Quote:i guess I am out of the norm I see 50 million as moderate price and not expensiveI looked at it in the market the other day and it was really expensive. I can't remember how much but I think it was well over 50 million. How much are you seeing them for?
Of course, the prices for everything are in a state of flux right now since the crazy AE monkey farm and the new hero merit/tip system...of course, I guess they always are but everything just seems really expensive right now. Hopefully, prices will start going back down a bit since there should be more supply to meet the demand now that it's a bit easier to acquire some of the hard to find IO's.
I'll take another look tonight.
What about the regen and end recovery on the build? Any opinions?
You could also do 3 acc/dmg Ho's and then 3 defense IO's and get set bonuses 3 lotg including the recharge or what ever you want -
there are a lot of LOL scrappers in PVP while melee in general is LOL in pvp
-
When I19 hit I had planned out my build and went over and over on my build until i found one I liked.
in the process on my main fire/sd I added +5% global recharge, went from 14hP to over 20hp per tick added 10.5% damage. Added more HP added more endurance though i upped my endurance burn so no real gain
What I Noticed is this had a great net + for my scrapper and i have to use aidself a lot less in my big battles
has anyone else noticed a big + to your build with this change -
Quote:It depends on the buildWhat I should have said before is which secondary will let me have more attacks and able to slot them, I want a nice vairety of attacks to use.
dark is pretty darn solid and survivable if you soft cap s/l it goes up it how good it is Dark is the tool box set so to speak a little of every thing
Also what you can do since you are going MA you can stack disorients with Oppressive gloom + cobra strike etc. OG works out of the box with 1-2 slots where COF requires about 5-6 slots easy. OG is a mag 2 stun aura by the way
