My Merc/Pain was a lot of fun and is a powerful combination. -res proc in your pets and you're pretty much set. I personally took my patron immb to keep enemies at range.
-
With BG mode and some HP bonuses, the MM version has the ability to be much more useful. I didn't bother taking the power on my Rad/Pain Corr.

Whats wrong with pvp drops? Not dropping or something? -
Possible a stealth fix that forces melee pets in melee? Even after the "supposed" fix that removed recharge bonuses from affecting pets.
If something was changed to actually affect melee pets AI recently. I promise you the official word will be the recharge change is what fixed the problem.
I'll have test my thug MMs and my Necros to verify for myself. I however saw no change in AI with the removal of the recharge bonuses from pets. Only change I saw was it lowering the DPS of all my MMs, and controllers. -
Thug/FF was my first 50, sadly the IO build I had on mids was on my old harddrive. I don't play him much now, but it was a lot of fun for me 1-50. Leveled up pretty quick and this was before the xp curve change.
-
Anyone mind sharing a build I can use as a template? Been messing around with mids and can't get to 40%.
-
18 - 24 is hell on most MMs, found it really bad on my Merc/Pain. Wasn't too bad on my Necro/Storm because I had some mitigation. You got some nice synergy with your debuff being PBAoE and your pets being melee. Stick in BGmode, run in and debuff, then spam the heals. Repeat on all groups :-). Not really sure how much painbringer would help the Lich, personally I'd put it on one of my knights. Have fun though, necro is one of my favorites.

I have a MA/Nin sitting at 50 and gathering dust. He was an old duo toon with my wife, he was shelved after hitting 50. I'm running down my list of 50's trying to IO them all out. The question, is it possible to softcap Ninjitsu w/o gimping the build heavily?

The problem I see is this: All my henchmen will have a self heal at 32. All of them. Won't that make the mainstay of /pain pretty useless?
I just worry that I'll put all that effort into getting up to 32 and then feel like I'm half as useful as I should be.
[/ QUOTE ]
The self heal the pets get at 32 will in no way outshine /Pain. Seriously do not worry, even if you were to 6 slot heal into your pets. They would only heal for about 1/10 the amount Soothe does unslotted. Zombies are quite squishy, /Pain will be useful. -
Happy day you fell outta your mama >,>

Yes, but it was taken away because the Devs were worried we'd farm for them.

That's not as critical as the "string of random characters when you start to type something
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not a random string.
Pay attention to them, and realize what keys you use to move/execute powers
[/ QUOTE ]
Or (at least most often for me) what the last few values you entered as bids at the market were.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's my point. The characters that show up are keys you have recently pressed. I've even had :
llo!HowsitgoingRoI'm LFT right now
happen - my previous line of chat
[/ QUOTE ]
I've had that happen. What freaks me out more is that I've had it happen while entering my password to login. I'm paranoid that I'll end up somehow accidentally broadcasting my login password to the game via this bug.
Can we get it moved up a little bit if it's classified as a security risk?
(because seriously, it is one if it has a chance of pulling passwords and logins and "storing" them for later)
[/ QUOTE ]
I doubt you're gonna broadcast your login name plus your NCsoft master account info. Just be cautious of what you type. -

In my opinion, traps is a set built for ranged pets (mercs, bots, thugs). A lot of it seems to be set up a fortified position and lay waste from afar.
The FFG follows you, though, so the melee pets would be ok as long as you stayed in melee range. If you use it, you'd also have to drop the triage beacon in melee range.
Although, there is quite a bit of synergy with Detonator -> Soul Extraction.
[/ QUOTE ]
Traps is anything but geared for only ranged pets. Nearly all of the powers require you to be in melee. (If you play aggressively)
Necro/Traps while it has some holes is a fun pair IMO. Also in i15 you will be able to slot the recharge pet IOs into Soul Extraction. So x2 def procs + FFG + -tohit is a nice combo IMO. Don't forget not only can you add 2 +resist procs, you can take maneuvers to stack with your other buffs. -
Used to work, was uber on the bruiser /em tear.
But thanks to people complaining about having to actually control their pets it was changed. The devs attempt to get pets to cycle through attack chain and melee pets to enter melee. TBH fixed nothing, still have to force my bruiser to go into melee the same.
What annoys me the most is all my toons with pets suffered for the change. -

AE missions are the problem for game content maps

Should be a known bug, I sent a bug report with info on how to duplicate the crash. As a warning just be sure to quit all AE things before logging off. -

Mission tips says you don't have to use the new IO enhancements, but a new player can't compete with a veteran without them. Then a new player can't get the new enhancements cause they can't fight for them in the zones and can't buy them cause they cost too much on the Black Market. Would that make a new player want to contunie playing the game??
[/ QUOTE ]
Mission tips doesn't state you don't need IOs in "PVP". The PvE portion of the game is 100% playable w/o IOs.
And as others stated, wrong board -

I would say if you want to play a healer....PD is not the right set....go blue side and be an emp defender....that is about as close as you will get to being a "healer" in the city of universe.
[/ QUOTE ]
My Rad/Pain Corr and my Merc/Pain keep teams alive just fine. I personally prefer Pain over Emp. Granted emps auras are decent but hardly perma w/o outside buffs. The right build can perm WoP and having a debuff in Pain helps if no debuffs are present on the team.
Not to enrage an Emp vs Pain war, but its a matter of taste. Some prefer emp some pain, long as they do their job I don't care which they are really.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am not saying they can't keep teams healed....I have an elec/pd corruptor and a necro/PD MM and both do a great job of keeping teams alive.
I was just more commenting on that if you want to be a "healer" in CO* you are probably better of playing an EMP defender...as you going to be getting bigger "green" numbers from the EMP defender then the PD MM/Corruptor....simply because of the primary vs secondary part.
While I also think the other powers in PD make it a nicer set then EMP to some (me included) the OP was asking about being a healer not which set is better.
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed, consider though redside vs blueside, /Pain is the best "healer" mindset redside. Perhaps redside is where he prefers to play this concept. -
