Necro/Pain... should I reroll?
I was just doing a mish on my Dark/Pain, and the mish had a rescuable pet that fights. I can tell you that Pain Bringer on a pet is pretty awesome.
Lower levels on /Pain is lots of healing. Later you get World of Pain, Anguishing Cry, etc. You'll have other tricks by the time you get to 32.
Don't forget that most MMs on a team use their secondary more. It's good to have self sufficient pets, so you can concentrate on keeping the other pets (teammates) upright.

The problem I see is this: All my henchmen will have a self heal at 32. All of them. Won't that make the mainstay of /pain pretty useless?
I just worry that I'll put all that effort into getting up to 32 and then feel like I'm half as useful as I should be.

The self heal the pets get at 32 will in no way outshine /Pain. Seriously do not worry, even if you were to 6 slot heal into your pets. They would only heal for about 1/10 the amount Soothe does unslotted. Zombies are quite squishy, /Pain will be useful.
Thanks for the encouragement. That'll push me on a few more levels for sure!

18 - 24 is hell on most MMs, found it really bad on my Merc/Pain. Wasn't too bad on my Necro/Storm because I had some mitigation. You got some nice synergy with your debuff being PBAoE and your pets being melee. Stick in BGmode, run in and debuff, then spam the heals. Repeat on all groups :-). Not really sure how much painbringer would help the Lich, personally I'd put it on one of my knights. Have fun though, necro is one of my favorites.
When you get about level 40 you'll be a wrecking machine. Especially if you cash in on Pet Resistance Bonus IOs. Zombies/Pain is a very powerful combo, especially if you can control the Lich correctly. Stick with it and the build will shine.
I'm looking forward to leveling up my necro/pain MM.
World of Pain has the potential to be perma.
Suppress Pain gives me the potential to heal 3.2%/sec.
I'm getting very discouraged with my necro/pain, although it's only level 18 right now, which I know is the toughest levels for MMs. I already asked if it was a good powerset combination once on this board, but I've got a new question.
I'm not frustrated now, though. I feel like I'm doing very well with the sets. Pain is excellent at keeping my pets alive, don't get me wrong... and I'm about to pick up stamina to keep them alive longer.
