The false hits, and blank hits, on 'sound' and similar searches in the Base Construction forum has surpassed my google-fu.
I have an old character that "inherited" a SG base. I have left it as is out of respect but I am the only one playing. I do want to change one thing. I have a power room with an awful whirl/hum (I don't know what to call it). I have deleted items and then put them back trying to nail down the source of the sound but I have not found it attached to an object. (Quantum Stablizers, Basic Generator, High Speed Furnace system, Ceiling Blowers)
I thought there are no sounds with bases. I read that is an item people want added so I would think that there are no sounds. I really, really want to get rid of it.
Possible? Help. -
Quote:. . a month laterIt was (and still is) on the first page of the Blaster forums under a similar enough heading that it should have been easy to find the thread, but here is the link to my post that definitively explains why, where damage is concerned, Incendiary Ammo is the only ammo that matters.
There may be no reason to really burden anyone with an explanation but the above quote seems to have a "sigh, can't you newbs do anything for yourselves" tone. I thought I would explain my thought process.
I certainly saw the thread Umbral posted in and linked to and if that was the thread that the OP was referring to then cool. If it wasn't that thread (and I didn't/don't know if it is, Herojunkie has not returned to this thread) then I was curious (and still would be curious) about any other thread he may have read.
To be fair; a lot of the linked thread is about Aim and other off-topic issues. The pertinent post is the one directly linked by Umbral and there is no conversation about it, just one poster's opinion making it fairly isolated. While Mr. Umbral is a long time veteran (2004 registration), I myself am not a veteran, and I don't have experience in the community that would allow me to tell who is a long time knowledgeable player and who is just a long time player. -
Quote:Wow space Battlecruiser. 3,000 turns?! It doesn't take a PhD to notice that is not Smart. Let us all hope CoX is not so Derek, derelict? in their design philosophy.Good distinction. I like resource-management games where one has to balance production decisions, for example, but tactical micromanaging quickly becomes extremely tiresome.
Here's one example of mind-numbing tactical resource management:
I played one space game where you could build huge fleets of complex starships loaded with various weapons and gadgets...but the actual combat involved telling each gun in each battery of each starship where to fire each round. Now assume that six of my 40-ship fleets are fighting, using, say, 8 guns each, in fights that last an indefinite number of rounds (until decision is reached) before the next "turn" occurs and more production decisions are made. That means manually assigning 1,920 targets each round for, say, 20 rounds before I get to be the strategist again.
My first attempt at said game lasted 3,000 turns (each of which could in theory contain an indefinite number of battle rounds). There was no second attempt, of course. -

Nothing to see here, move along.
Your does not mean you are.
I just can't fathom how so many of you can get it wrong every single time. It isn't like the rest our your posts scream idiot or illiterate. Shoot, I see the correct use of There and Their so why is Your/You're so hard? I feel better from venting in this unnecessarily critical post.

I reread Fulmens' post twice trying to figure out what was going on. It didn't make any sense to me at all. What is he getting, I wondered to myself. The following posts explained it to me.
I feel kind of bad suspecting there must be a scam hidden in there somewhere. You have my apologies and respect for your altruism. *bow*

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
I have tried for weeks also.
Before a tough guy tells me to get a life I will state for the record that I am indeed lifeless. -
-
Gosh. Everybody go back to bed and get an extra hour of sleep. Bunch of crabby people . . .
-
Same. I could just spit because of this, or cry not sure.
-
... it wiped my comments twice. Nevermind.

I snapped a screenshot of this guy under Atlas a couple weeks back and then forgot about it. I want to know what costume set this is. Is it Vanguard?

Questions:
I find mostly that I hit with Soaring Dragon and follow with Golden Butterfly. If it is a Boss that may have knocked it off its feet and I will then use Divine Avalanche. I might lead off with Divine Avalanche on minions because SD then GB will usually finish them and I want the +DEF from DA when facing the rest of the bad guys. Those three powers get the most use. Gambler's Cut I use to fill in while other powers are cycling or on a mob with just a sliver of red bar left.
Any real difference between Gambler's Cut and Sting of the Wasp in the role? I see your choice was Sting in your first suggestion.
Temperature Protection. You don't have this on your first build. And only have one slot in the second as a reply using my choices. Are there better choices I should think about?
Hasten. Currently I don't think I am getting much out of it. I have some Endurance issues and being able to hit my more expensive powers more often isn't helping that.
Rise of the Phoenix. Use of it presupposes I die, and I find I have only been dying when in a (near) team wipe and rezzing just leads to suicide.
Had to take Boxing for Tough and Weave. I only use it in Atlas Park when I beat up on Hellions, helping citizens cross the street. It is somehow more satisfying to just punch out a low level bad guy than to slice him with the sword. I recommend it for that if you have little fits of RP like I do.
I will likely stay with the fire theme for ancillary power pool since there isn't one you say that is head and shoulders above the rest. I wish I could grow wings of flame and take Fly for travel but since I can't Hurdle and Ninja Jump are doing pretty well for me. Never liked Super Jump personally even though it would fit easily into the build.
I am rambling now. I will stop. Thanks for the kind replies. -
Goals? I like saving the world and clicking on bombs.
( I have been back a month and even I understood that and found it funny. )
Right now my goals are modest. I just want to contribute to any of the teams I find myself on. This isn't an AoE kind of character so semi-fast single target kills and reasonable survivability are all I can ask. I returned in April with one character over thirty and about ten in their teens. I have been playing them all and would like to have this character to provide influence for the others. It isn't a farm build though is it? Maybe I should plan to mass mindless slaughter of Battle Maidens with my new (~lvl-20), up & coming Electric-Shield scrapper?
I don't have specific plans like certain task forces or whatever, I want to get to them all now that I am high enough level to get into them (never could before). I really want to buy some rocket boots for a character, I would like some wings for another. I can't do that without one of my characters in the role of sugardaddy for the others. And my Katana-Fire is my highest level and I really enjoy playing her. -
Thanks.
I was hesitant to ask for help on this. I feel I should know simple stuff but I really don't know what needs to be slotted for ACC and what needs END redux. So when I came back after the first post and there were 30 views and no reply I was embarrassed and tried to delete the whole thing. I couldn't quite do that.
Below is the original post.

I have played CoX off and on since not long after it came out. I am back again and have a scrapper (ZOMG level 40!!) that I want to better enhance. I have just under twenty million across all my characters. That is not much in this new economy. I have no clue on what to do but I have decided this Katana/Fire-Armor is the character I want to put my effort into. What can I do (roughly) for what I have? Hopefully this character can go out and make some influence for other characters and eventually IOs then some luxuries, like costume parts.
Below is my power list. It isn't in the same order I got things but it is the correct powers that I have chosen. Any bad ideas in that? I have not decided on an ancillary/epic. I could use advice on that also.
