  1. I always say the best way is to make a post on the forum for your server; I don't think you can go wrong that way, since it is visible and there are plenty of helpful people on every server who would be willing--practically eager-- to help you.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
So then how would you label emotes that have more than one slash command to implement them?

Such as .... ;getsome and ;kissit

That's one emote with two different slash commands to implement it. There are several others that are similar.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Pick one. Doesn't matter which.

Anyone know if "Neutral Stance" and/or "Center Stance" are new emotes or old emotes under a new name? I can't seem to find the slash commands for those stances listed under Idle. Nuetral stance animates a stance at a 45 degree angle with the left foot forward. Whereas Center Stance is just a straight stance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    They're ;Idle1 and ;Idle2.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They should just make the menu name and the slash command name be the same.

Please note that the Pocket D teleporter might not work until your character hits L3. This would be to prevent CoV characters from exiting the tutorial without first picking thier initial contact, and thus getting "all screwed up" in terms of the contact tree.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, it's to prevent players from exiting the tutorial with a mission that they cannot complete or clear in their active mission list, since they would not be able to communicate with the Breakout/Outbreak contact once they leave the tutorial zone.

I think there was a person who posted on the forums who was telling his SG mates to enter the tutorial zone and then die and use the Base TP to get out of the tutorial, but they would have the mission in their mission list and couldn't clear it. From what I saw, the guy was an idiot about it, too. I just never understand the need to enter the tutorial just to glitch your way out of it. Seemed pretty stupid.

Ah, it seems I mistakenly was looking at the AE details instead of the GvE details.

I do have the GvE edition.

So the sinister and justice pieces should be available to me then since I upgraded from a free trial account, correct? I recieved my VIP badge and teleporter as soon as I logged in so I can only hope I have some new costume goodies waiting for me when I access a tailor.

Thank you for the speedy replies.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Also, purchasing a full version of the other Editions includes a month of game time so you can purchase additional Editions for their in-game bonuses for a net cost of about $5.00, since the Editions usually cost about $20.00 and a month of game time is about $15.00.

Keep in mind that you can only apply one of each Edition to a single account, so buying one copy of the Good vs. Evil Edition (which appears to be what you purchased), but a second code for the Good vs. Evil Editon could not be applied to that same account.

Also, to do this, use the "Upgrade Account" option for your account, do not "Add" as that would create an addition account.

If I already paid for CoH, how do I get the Going Rogue expansion?

    [/ QUOTE ]

When it comes out you buy it. You then access your City of Heroes account from the web (link on the front page of cityofheroes.com) and update your existing account.

    That's it, you're done.

Oh, you may have to install off the disc. Dunno about that yet or not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It is doubtful that it will be necessary to install from the disk(s) for Going Rogue as there will most likely be a pre-download (as with just about every other issue and City of Villains) before Going Rogue goes live. If it is like CoV release, every computer that tries to access the game will have to patch to the new release, even if the player doesn't purhcase the expansion; it's a matter of being able to render new objects, costumes, etc., that other players will have available.

Everyone will probably have to download the Going Rogue data, even if some players don't purchase the Going Rogue expansion. There will probably be a pre-order (like CoV) and we will just need to apply the code for the expansion to our existing accounts, even before we receive any physical disks.

Only thing I'm concerned about is..

If we now have a Praetoria zone, does that mean no more Portal Corp. trips to Praetoria?

    I love those portals.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I doubt that they will do that; Going Rogue is a paid expansion which would imply that if you don't purchase the expansion, then you cannot access that additional content, so I doubt that they would remove all that extant story content. If anything, they would probably update some of the missions to allude to the more expanded content in Going Rogue as a bit of marketing to players who might not purchase the expansion.

Heck, put contacts in Portal court and inside the buildings to explain Praetoria like they added the contacts in the Hazard Zones and give them a "There's more out there..." (dun, dun, DUN) spiel.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I don't get why the company wanted to start an official thread regarding ROGUE. We know so little about what we're getting or when.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It might be a little easier for them to see (or ignore) a single a thread than a bunch of disparate threads spread throughout the boards so they might (might) address the concerns of the players more efficiently.

    Or not.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Just wondering how things will work wrt Going Rogue.

    - I assume the other poster was right about having to be in Praetoria (sp) to switch sides.
    - If a hero flip in Praetora, can they then return to Rogue Isles, but not Paragon City?
    - If your in an SG, and you flip, do you stay in the SG, or do you get booted
    - What about the economy? Villains switch to Hero, get their cheap IOs, then switch back. Or will the economies be melded together?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm thinking it's going to be accessible in a way similar to Pocket D: Gate(s) only for "Villains" to access the Rogue Isles and separate gate(s) only for "Heroes" to access Paragon City. Doing stuff for different contacts in Praetoria moves your morality one way or the other and that dictates which gates you can use.

What I would really like to know is if Praetoria has a starting point like Outbreak and Breakout for starting characters, if there will be new contacts in the extant starting zones to access Praetoria, if you must enter either the Rogue Isles or Paragon City before you can enter Praetoria or what have you.

In other words, will we be able to take what is currently a Villain-only or Hero-only AT directly to Praetoria from the character creation screen or will we have to enter one of the extant zones?

My question is, is it possible to get a mayhem missions exploration badge if it was missed, as I missed my Global Threat badge during my first mayhem mission. Additionally, I'm 23 now, is it possible to do the mayhem missions in Kings Row and Skyway City as I have never done them. Thanks for any help you guys can offer

    [/ QUOTE ]

Your best bet is to post in the forum for the server you play on, which appears to be Protector. Post which Mayhem Mission badges you are looking for and people will usually post that they can provide them or that they are looking for them. The few times I remember seeing posts like that on the Protector forum, some people made a day of it and a bunch of people got a lot of badges on different characters.

For clarity: You do not need to be Exemplared or Sidekicked to get the badges; you can enter and complete the missions at your native level and receive badges and side mission badge progress. Only Experience, Inf and Prestige rewards are lmited based on your combat level, based on being Exemplar or Sidekick and your level relative to the enemies in the mission. (I'm not 100% certain, but you might get the temp powers for completing the Mayhem Mission and for the arms deal side missions if you do not Exemplar/Sidekick.)
  12. This is pretty much the entire reason for having a Test Server: It is a fairly small population, but it's expected to be large enough to actually test for stress and bugs and possiblities of corruption of player character data. Especially since my own testing of the costume bugs seem to be affecting players who are seeing the players who have made the changes, but not the player who makes the changes to their own characters.

Bringing beta testing to the Live servers seems like a really, really, really, really, really...not good idea.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
First person I've seen that hasn't seen this as a nice and hilarious improvement. I, personally, found it a nice touch.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Or, maybe, they could have added a new emote for the random stuff and leave the old emote untouched.
  14. You do not need the badge to begin accumulating the discount coupons, but I think you need at least 25% progress on the badge before they begin to show up. The cap seems to be 10 coupons per character and I recently got all ten on a few characters before actually receiving the badge.

If you aren't getting more than 9, check to make sure you are getting the day job indicator. If you are, I would suggest making a bug report.
  15. Also, the contact to the right of Lady Grey in the Rikti War Zone sells all SO's for all Origins to both Heroes and Villains.

    Notes:

The characters must train up to L35 to enter the zone. There is no other requirement, which makes it more easily accessable than some other zones.

Enhancements are sorted by origin like this:

Origin: [First Origin listed is Magic]
    L35 Accuracy
    L40 Accuracy
    L35 Confuse
    L40 Confuse
    Etc...
    ------------
    L45 Accuracy
    L50 Accuracy
    L45 Confuse
    L50 Confuse
    Etc...

    Next Origin, etc...

So, for each Origin, all the L35 and 40 Enhancements are listed in the first part of the list and the L45 and L50 Enhancements are listed in the second part.
  16. Double-check that you don't have so much mez stacked on you that it breaks through Dwarf mez protection, which might happen with a combination of large teams (more enemies stacking holds) and fighting higher level enemies. Also, you might be suffering from lag-related issues where the server doesn't quite synch with power activations.

If you are certain that none of that applies, you might want to submit a bug.

Also, the preferred bind for the CCE commands seems to be:-

    eg: /bind H "emote none$$cce 0 cclightning"

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's the only time you need the quote marks, when you're combining two commands into a single bind or macro. Otherwise you can do it with no quote marks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Quotation marks are also needed when there are spaces in the variable name, like:

    /setchat "Global Channel"

    [/ QUOTE ]

/ChatSet Jello Shooters worked fine without quotes here. /setchat, on the other hand, says Unknown command: setchat .

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seeing as I was only giving an example of when quotes are needed, it doesn't matter at all that the command isn't an actual command. Blackavaar said it is only needed in one situation when that isn't accurate.

Sometimes, the person who posts the question isn't the only one who is looking for the answer.

Do you realize you can do that with Super Speed and any attack already?

If you turn Super Speed off during a battle and then click it on right after pounding one enemy you can use it to speed across the room to kick another with no suppression.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The suppression is there, but the animation time of some attacks (like Total Focus) might take up some of the suppression time and makes it seem like there is no suppression. Suppression initiates at the beginning of the animation.

I remember a certain dark defenderr player sending me a tell about reporting me for copyright violation because I made a toon named HALO.

My toon didn't have anything to do with the halo game. My toon's name was Halo, her secret ID was Angela Winger. She was an angelic-themed character. I've never even played the Halo game. I couldn't tell ya the first thing about it...other than I am pretty sure it was a FPS.

So I deleted the toon, but I've NEVER, EVER forgotten that player did that to me, nor have I forgiven them. Forever, in my book, they are jerks. That character was originally a champions character I made back in 1989, way before the Halo game came out.

I might re-make the toon some day...but, heck, it wasn't all that great a champions character to begin with.

But as a rule, I NEVER, EVER report ANYONE for potential copyright infringement. Why? Because it doesn't give me xp or insp or IOs or influence. I have better things to do in-game than inspecting other players toons. I'm not a rat, I don't rat out people.

So, if you have had a toon generiched...believe me...it was NOT me that turned you in...I'm not a rat!

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. This person would likely have petitioned you, and then come on here and talked about it in some thread how they found you and reported you, so they could get E-high fives and back pats from the group.

And of course I know not all of you self appointed cops are like this, but for every rule breaker, there's someone like this out there, trust me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seriously, if that person had told the story, and then said that they had reported the Reactor's character for copyright infringement, we would have laughed at them. A lot.

The Reactor's character did not need to be deleted. It was fine. It had no relation to the video game of that name. The GM would have dismissed the complaint.

There's a difference between petitioning actual copyright infringement characters, and characters with a name of something completely different.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And remember, a petition is a requestion for action, not an ordered result. If that person did make that petition, it would (should) have been reviewed by the game staff, and then no action taken (assuming the situation is represented accurately here).

Even if the character was in the wrong, you would have been just fine leaving it as it was and continuing, since the other player has no authority to make any changes. If someone on the game staff decided to take action, you would have been able to change the offenses and continue along (although, with some fairly minor actions on your part).

And, if that idiot had posted a gloat, corrections, chastizements, and ridicule would have been leveled, as deemed appropriate by the peers.

    Widescreen Woes

For windowed mode, you can change it in the Options window on the Graphics and Audio tab. The first item is "Screen/UI Resolution"; change it to "Windowed" and it should use your desktop resolution.

Or you can type: /fullscreen 0

Either way, you need to restart (not log off) CoH for it to take effect. However, sometimes when I do it, the setting doesn't stay on the first try. Also, this can sometimes rearrange your UI windows because it doesn't automatically go to a maximized window.
  22. If you're having trouble with free tailor tokens, try going to a non-surgeon and messing with the costume to get the "Use Free Tailor Token" button to come up, but exit without accepting the changes, then go to the surgeon and the tokens might come up. It worked for me.

    6) Many long story arcs are simply plain bad, too challenging, have too many objectives, are using annoying maps and annoying mobs, have too much text , too many ambushes, too many AVs, finally just too much of everything and that makes them pure PITA to run. They get an auto 1 star from me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I understand this correctly, you "grief" rate long missions simply based on the length of the mission?

I certainly hope you don't go out of your way to run longer missions in order to "grief" rate them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a list of criteria and you boiled that down to one thing? I don't think you understand that at all.
