I've only been playing for six months. I bought the game purely because of word-of-mouth recs. I asked people to recommend me something that would work well as a co-op game I could play duo, having enjoyed Diablo II and Hellgate: London, and really mostly as something to play while waiting for Diablo III to come out. A good proportion of the recs were for CoX. Maybe there was a skew because of where I asked, as most of the recs came from women, and maybe CoX has more female players than other MMOs. (And interestingly, in view of the 'are the forums scary' thread, the recs generally mentioned how friendly CoX was for new players compared to other MMOs.)

I'm not a superheroes fan, and I wasn't an MMO player, either. I thought about a trial account, but then I found up a copy of the EU CoH release very cheap on Ebay, so for less than £4 I thought I might as well just buy it and have a look at it with a month's sub. Now I rec it very enthusiastically myself to anyone foolish enough to ask what I've been doing with my time lately :-)

I was two missions away from being able to spawn one when it got to 1pm. I overslept, sorry -- next time I'll do better, I promise.

Maybe it would be a good idea to have MCX or someone else standing back from the fighting and just doing target direction, reminding people to buff, etc? I think that was where things fell down a bit in a few places -- there was just way too much going on for one person to direct AND get stuck into the fight at the same time.

I was on a TF a few weeks ago with a fire blaster who told us not to worry if he faceplanted because 'death is part of my attack chain'.

It's happened to me, too. /reloadgfx to reload the textures seems to fix it, though.

I'll ask my silly question now: as the blue team debuffer, does my character need to have some form of Fly?

I hadn't looked at Storm, for some reason, and I quite like the idea of raining fire and destruction from the skies :-) If I go for fire/dark, I might end up re-rolling my dark/dark character, as I'm not sure I'll want dark/dark *and* fire/dark corruptors. Although I'd miss my Tenebrous Tentacles, so, hmm.

Too many choices!

I've been playing CoX for about six months, but I've only just really looked at Corruptors, and I like what I see a lot. My first love in computer games is being able to hurl massive fireballs around the screen, and since I've been playing CoX my next-favourite characters have mostly been Defenders, so Corruptors seem like my dream AT. I've been playing a dark/dark, and having a lot of fun

My question is, given that I'd like to try a fire/ Corruptor, what is a good synergistic secondary power set? I'll mostly be playing the character solo or in a duo, so I've been leaning towards the sets which debuff enemies rather than buff allies. Would /dark or /rad be good choices? Is there any reason to prefer one over the other? Or am I missing another good option?

I don't at all mind people sending tells asking if I want to join a team (mostly, it just reminds me that I need to put myself on /hide). But it does bemuse me that a couple of times when I've sent my standard 'No, thanks', I've got a reply of 'why not?' Uh...because I don't want to, maybe?

That should be 400,000 inf, not 4 million. Although you're quite right that Alchemical Silver has been very high lately. I wondered if it might be due to the drop-off in Katie Hannon runs and the mid-level magical salvage they brought into the system.

Still, you can always put in a much lower bid and wait overnight. Or spend half an hour or an hour in Dark Astoria, which is what we've been doing -- collect magic salvage and make some progress towards the Pantheon boss badge at the same time.

I expect they get teleported to safety after defeat, so it just means the hundred or so KoA who exist are really, really busy, and spend an awful lot of time running out of the hospital and back to mission instances.

I never have any problems finding good fanfic, because I mostly read from recs. I expect that the MA will be the same -- rec sites/communities will be established, well-written missions will get recced a lot, and I'll find people whose taste meshes well with mine and I'll trust their recs to find content I'll enjoy.

One or both of us can also spawn a Titan for you. How many are you aiming to get?

But you've been an absolutely fantastic mod, and thanks for all your hard work here (and if you need a reference for another modding job, I'm sure you could get one from the whole forum). I've cursed a lot of hunt missions, but that's the one I've never had any problems with. Go through the Atlas entrance, and the Outcasts are to the right, the trolls are straight ahead over the wall.

I do like the idea of saving the curing wand for Faultline, though. All those mezzing bosses are a pain in the brain.

Slotting Carrion Creeper doesn't work the way it 'ought', because there's a break in the chain which propagates enchancement bonuses from you to the creepers. So you'll be wasting a lot of the benefit from the enhancements, (although you'll still get the set bonuses).

I got a copy on e-bay, very reasonably priced. You need to be careful, though, that it's an unopened copy where the serial code hasn't been used already.
