On the one hand, yay! That all sounds awesome. \o/
On the other, I really hope I17 is going to be ready and you aren't pushing too hard to hit the April deadline for Demon Summoning. If that Auction House bug makes it over from test to live, and everything listed in the AH vanishes, then it really is going to be a memorable anniversary. Oooh, yes. -
The funny thing is, you're still letting those other people dictate your behaviour, just in a negative way rather than a positive one. Does that make you a black sheeple?

I store money on the market for characters with a lot less than the inf cap. It helps cut down on the wanted-to-bid-5 milllion-bought-for-50 million typos.

Quote:The Gaussian's rech/end redux is in the Random Rare Rolls pool (old pool C/D), while the rest of the set drop in Pool A or B.I'm looking at the Gaussian's Fire-Control set right now. You could have gotten 5 of the 6 for 1 million or under recently (way under for some). One recipe however is different. (recharge/end redux) 400+ bidding....0 for sale. The last 5 went for 40 million or more. So what's the main factor here?

I can't actually join Midlevel Crisis, as I play on the EU servers. But I'm hitting mid-thirties on a few characters, so I'm making a conscious effort to stop and roll merits and tickets. This is what I had left to list after getting rid of vendor trash, keeping what I wanted for slotting, and taking a few things out of base storage. All blueside:
Maelstrom's Fury: Dam/Rech 33 (crafted)
Maelstrom's Fury: Acc/Dam 33 (crafted)
Adjusted Targetting: To Hit/End 36 (crafted)
Focused Smite: Acc/Dam 36 (crafted)
Harmonized Healing: Heal/End/Rech 36 (crafted)
Smashing Haymaker: Dam/End/Rech 35 (crafted)
Titanium Coating: Res 36 (crafted)
Mako's Bite: Chance for Lethal 36 (recipe x2)
Impervium Armor: End/Res 36 (recipe)
Decimation: Acc/Dam/Rech 36 (crafted)
Blessing of the Zephyr: KB protection 36 (crafted)
Mako's Bite: Dam/Rech 36 (crafted)
Entropic Chaos: Dam/End 20 (crafted)
Focused Smite: Acc/End/Rech 35 (crafted)
Decimation: Dam/Rech 40 (crafted) x2
(There were a few other things that sold as soon as I listed, but I forgot to make a note of them.) Anyway, I have 350+ merits each on two characters at level 36 and 37 that I'll be rolling as soon as I17 comes out and I can mail the recipes to my main crafting character for processing.
ETA: Two more, for which I was waiting for salvage.
Touch of Death: Acc/Dam/End 36
Performance Shifter: End Mod/Rech 36 -
Quote:I'm perfectly willing to accept that I'm in a minority, but I really like the Mo badges. I still don't have MoSTF on my main badge character, but on the other hand, I know I can still get it, some day. Plus, there's always plenty of inf and a chance of a nice drop on each attempt. I'd be happy with an Mo for all the main TFs, at least.Bottom line, imo: the game needs new Mo badges like we all need to have a hole drilled through our heads. I'm sure they can come up with something better in terms of new badges.
I only have one serious badge character, though. I'm sure Mos must be a lot more annoying for people who badge on multiple characters, and I can see why people don't like them. -
I've had defenders without ally rez, and never had a complaint. Generally, there's something I'd rather take than a highly situational power which can easily be replicated by wakie + break free + blue insp.
Unless it's Howling Twilight, of course. I suspect that the reason Twilight Grasp is such a deliciously spammable power is that otherwise Dark defenders would just let their team mates die all the time. -
Quote:I think he means broken in the sense of 'not working'. As an obstacle to getting a Shivan shard or nuke, PVP most certainly is horribly broken. You can continue to try to claim the PvP interruption are what's broken, but since they are clearly intended to be part of the event you are wrong.
I guess I've been struck by this because I've never specifically thought before about Shivans and nukes being balanced by PVP risk. When PVP is so desperately thin on some servers, it's not only unbalanced the temp powers, but done so in a way which creates inequality in rewards between players on different servers. Of course, in an ideal world the devs wouldn't need to rebalance the rewards because they'd rebalance the risk by coming up with an awesome (verging on miraculous, in fact) idea to make more people want to PVP. -
Quote:When there's no It, there's no game. It's just one person running around in a field. I have literally *never* been attacked, or even seen an opposition player, when I was getting either nukes or Shivans on Defiant. If the PvP zone events are deemed to be too easy for the rewards they give I'm fine with that, but don't try to tell me that tag isn't a competition simply because I can make it to base without beating up whomever happens to be It.
Personally, I don't care much what happens to Shivans and nukes. But if they're balanced around the idea of a realistic chance of PVP opposition, then on my server at least the risk-reward ratio is very screwed. It'd be like giving only a miniscule chance that any of the AVs show up in the STF, and keeping the merits the same. -
Quote:Evading other players in PVP on Defiant while getting Shivans and nukes is about as competitive and challenging as evading polar bears in the Antarctic. As to your hypothetical, Last I checked you can't get Shivans or Nukes by just standing in the zone, so I fail to see how it is similar in any respect. To get them you have to perform an action and competition is an element of that action, via direct conflict or evasion.

Claim alien mind control made her do it. Alien mind control explains everything. When she's got all the badges, give her a shiny reflective tinfoil hat at the facemakers and bring her back blueside.

What kind of enhancement are the defense enhancements you have slotted? If they're SO Defenses, then a triple HO will provide exactly the same amount of bonus to each individual aspect as the SO (20%). Even a level 50 common IO isn't providing that much extra (25.5%).
-
On the other hand, there aren't many EB problems that can't be solved with a trayful of Lucks and the application of a bit more foom. :-)

Maybe you could put something together for him in AE? An outdoor map like the radio station one would be fun to fly around in, and you could put in some clickable and destructible objects for him to interact with.

Quote:I'm the same. I have lvl 50 characters sitting on hundreds of merits that I just can't be bothered to roll. I don't want the lvl 50 recipes for my own characters, and I don't need the inf, and I wouldn't be doing anything to help market supply as 50 is where most of the recipes on the market are already. So all I do with the merits is buy the occasional Stealth IO for a new character.I would love to roll, however at lvl 50 I can not get lower lvl recipes. If I could pick the lvl then I would roll. I don't want lvl 50 LOtG's and such. I want them to be useful when I Exmp/Mal down for TF/SF's.
If I could pick the level, I'd roll. Or if I could pass the merits to a lower level character, I'd roll the merits on them. At the moment, though, merits just aren't that interesting or useful to me.
I'd love to know how many merits total are sitting around in character inventories in the game, especially as a proportion of all the merits that have dropped. -
I always play with the in game music turned off. I used to play randomized tracks from my music library, but I found it too distracting when something I hadn't heard for a while came on. So now I tend to set up one longish playlist and then listen to it on repeat. Then I can have music going on, but because it's the same stuff over and over it's just background. At the moment, it's about 60 Backstreet Boys tracks, sorted early to current.

Quote:I think you are misunderstanding. Fulmens is simply offering to match inf --> prestige conversions. Whatever inf you convert to prestige, he'll buy an equal amount of prestige for you, up to 100 million inf per time. So, if you're already buying prestige with inf, he'd just be doubling the amount of prestige you'd get for it, at no cost to you.seriously, I cant afford to pay him. everything I have in game atm is invested in this effort. I don't have any spare change that doesn't get converted to prestige.
Otherwise I would have done it a while ago.<edit: unless of course I'm misunderstanding something, and that's often the case with me.>
Details can be found here. I don't actually know if he's doing it at the moment, but it can't hurt to ask. -

Quote:People have unreasonable and completely unsupported prejudices against Wiki. It does depend on the area, but in a lot of technical and scientific areas it's a very good resource. I assume your high school would've accepted Encyclopdia Britannica as a reference, right? Yet Nature conducted a survey of science articles in both, and concluded that Wiki wasn't significantly less accurate.I would caution you on one thing though. There is a reason that no reputable organization will except any information from Wikipedia. It is not a trustworthy source. Both my High School and the College I graduated from automatically assign an F to any paper or project that listed or could be proven to have Wikipedia as a source. It may work just fine for this game, but if Wikipedia told me the sky was blue I would not believe it even after looking out at the sky myself. As a matter of fact, I would probably begin starting to doubt any other resource that agreed with Wikipedia. Just a thought.
Mmm, price caps. Let me just check my wallet for my licence to print money. -
I just had a long wait (a minute or so) and then it finally connected.

Quote:If they are, they're wasting their time, because you can already buy almost all lvl 50 common IOs for 15,000 inf, if you leave a bid for a day or two. Unless people are going to stand on street corners throwing IOs in the air like confetti, I'm not sure how they could get much cheaper.I could use a few more LotGs, think I'll post a thread complaining about their too-low prices to see if folks will flood the market out of spite.
I suspect the OP isn't smart enough to be attempting that scam but it is an interesting thought.
Dear OP: If you're determined to make your fortune crafting common IOs, why are you bothering with 50s? Especially Recharge IOs, which are vastly oversupplied because the ingredients are cheaper than dirt and the only other option for that crafting badge is making Interrupt IOs. Drop down a few levels to where the profit margins are better. -
Can he pick up a super cheap copy of the game now, and buy GR later if he likes it? I just had a look on ebay.sg and there seemed to be plenty of copies available. That's how I got started with CoX, and I paid much less than the price of a month's sub for the whole game.

Quote:Hmm...But the concept power wise, is Dual Pistol using hero, who is genetically enhanced to be durable, able to keep going when others would be lying face down (this is the regen aspect...able to geep going with a hole in her chest, when others would fall face down), who's senses allow her to see in bullet time.
She's fast and agile, and while not bullet proof per se, is able to take a beating (S/L style damage), while being suseptible to elemental style forces (F/C/E/N), needing to rely on her reflexes to avoid such attacks, with a strong mind, that isn't easily manipulated (Psi).
Have you considered waiting for GR and using a Corruptor as the base? Maybe DP/Rad? I guess it depends on how much you're willing to handwave/RP around the Rad powers to match them to your concept.
RA - a self heal.
AM - there's your regen and speed bonus, plus some resistance.
RI/EF/LR - these would simulate the agility and reflexes, with a To Hit penalty to the enemy, -def and -res attributable to her accurate shooting, and a nice slow to give her the 'bullet time'. Whether that's an acceptable simulation would be a personal taste thing, and might depend on how subtle you can get the visual effects via power customization.
A patron pool will get you your S/L resistance (eventually). Focused Accuracy from Mace Mastery would give another To Hit boost, although it's all hypothetical until we find out how Patrol/Epic pools work with side switching.
The only problem is the psi resistance, but maybe you can get enough to satisfy the concept with IO sets. IO for defense and/or recharge to keep the AM and LR available as much as possible. It would still be basically squishy, of course, but if you really want the DP, it's going to be hard to get away from the fundamental squishiness.
