  1. Bah, you're doing this on Friday. Guess I'll have to give it a go on Saturday instead.

You're only out of the race if they can take you down twice in a very short period.
Yeah, that's what I have learned to like about it. I used to feel particularly annoyed about it, like Ace does, but I've changed my feelings on it a bit more. I still don't want to fall as a Tanker, ever, but RoTP means it's even harder to truly defeat me, which is a fun concept.

Heck, those are a nice help at any level for all ATs. For Fiery Aura, all that defense on top of your resists and heals will show you why getting your own defense to have when solo or sans-buffers is such a good idea, too.

    Energy Blast?

He was responding to someone that said it lacked decent AOE damage, which I agree with as well.

To the OP, Energy Blast is quite fun. I've quite often heard that it's a middle of the road set, but it'll be up to you to see if you like it. I personally like blasting everything away (literally), so Energy Blast is great in that regard. You might have some people complain about KB, but as long as you are smart about it, you should be okay. As it is, you can ignore people complaining about KB when the targets you are knocking back are dying in a few seconds anyway. That's usually what happens on my Blasters with KB.
  4. I have a new Ice/Storm Corruptor concept I wanted to get off the ground, and I thought it would be best to do so with the launch of I17 and Demon Summoning. Alas, I cannot play on launch night due to my work schedule, so I have to settle for Thursday night.

Mercy Island and Port Oakes always seem overly dreary to me, so it is much more fun to get through those fast on a team that I'm having fun playing with. Figured there might be some other new villains or demon summoners that would like to join in, so shout out if you're interested! Going to start at 7 PM Central/8 PM Eastern in Mercy (probably going to go with Burke rather than Kalinda... I hate kow-towing to Arachnos too much).
  5. Voted. I went with the three that reminded me most of trying to do good art in my young years (though those three all did a better job in those mediums than I ever did, hehe). You got my vote for #2, Scooter. Nice job with the clay/playdough.
  6. 1) Christopher Robin, for bringing out the nostalgia of drawing on sidewalks (though I did it badly).

    2) Scooter, for that same nostalgia for playdough... though he yet again was able to make something worthwhile (which I never seemed to be able to).

    3) Lousy Day, who had a great chalkboard look going. Good stuff!

Of the sets at early levels, I would actually say Fiery Aura is one of the best. You get your resists relatively early by level 12 (and resists count for more there than the defense you can get in other sets), a heal, and an end recovery tool. Even after low levels, Fiery Aura can do well.

Plus, Sailboat is running a Fiery Aura tank. So you have to go with what he's planning. Heh.

Ace, Rise of the Phoenix is one of the reasons Fiery Aura is so dynamic and unstoppable. You can think it's down, but it has many ways of coming back... it's a fun concept. True, I don't like having to die to use my Tier 9, but there is something cool and thematic about it.
  8. Awww, Voo, you're so nice.

Though MG is making me look like a fanboy by being pessimistic. Sheesh, I try to be a realist with everything, so someone's scale is off with this one.
  9. Yeah, end recovery powers are great... I do wish Consume recharged faster than it did, but it's nice not to be dependent on having a blue inspiration to pop (and Consume can fill up your entire blue bar, which not many inspirations can do). That's nice for any fast moving team (or solo), but if you run into end drainers, it's great. Especially nice if you're fighting Carnies.

Bollocks to that. I won't say I have never died with my Fire/Fire, but it is quite rare (and usually when I go over my head solo... which takes some doing). Same thing for any tank build, though. And really... Fire/Dark will be more survivable than Fire/Fire: two heals would just be... nice. Hmmmm, maybe I should try that.

If you want a tough fire tank, Sailboat, getting more resistance from Tough, a form of defense (either positional or to Smash/Lethal), +HP, and +recharge are all your friends. You'll be able to take more punishment, dodge more punishment, and heal from it sooner.

Feel free to check out the guide in my sig too, Sailboat... it'll have a lot of good info for you on tanking, but also Fiery Aura. You should be able to go for something similar to my main tanking build for Grey Pilgrim, which has all of what I described in my previous paragraph. Tanked with that build in pretty much everything in game, and can adapt to just about any situation since it has defense and resists to all (made sure to add in Psy defense and resists, as well as Melee/AOE/Ranged).

I'll see if I can make a build later, kind of interested in a Fire/Dark Tanker now. Almost makes me want to reroll my DP/WP Scrapper, too.
  11. I'm guessing MG just asked a lot of questions that were good and they could actually give a little bit of info about.

MG... I did start out this thread mostly to talk about the Q & A and tease you a bit, but man... who poured all the negativity in your coffee? They haven't said anything about extra content, you find out that there will be more, and you automatically assume there isn't going to be much? That's a big leap.

Also, saying "prepare to be surprised" is a major downer and a leap as well. These devs don't tend to do anything small (thing about all the easter eggs and things War Witch liked to add, how much time Castle spends balancing things, and how much effort BAB put into weapon and power customization). I don't know that we're going to get something in every level range, but I don't see them just tossing in a few story arcs, either (which is the feeling I get from you).

Seriously, MG, don't be so pessimistic. No need to be over the top optimistic, either, but you seem to want to stay down even when you hear info to make you feel better.

BAB answered this one about a week ago. It gets brought up in meetings there, and is always shot down. So don't plan on getting it.
  13. I've sometimes wondered if DR was coming to PvE, given how much defense can be stacked by all ATs, and how much buffs and debuffs can stack. But it sounds like that isn't in the works, and the'yre just going to make things semi-tough to get to with IO sets, and keep it with caps and resistance for tougher targets.

I, too, would like to get more than two character slots with GR. Even 3-4 would be nice. I freed up two slots on Victory for GR with the free transfers, and now I'll have two more with GR. I think I have more than four characters I want to be running now and as of GR. I do have a few more on Champion, but I don't like going away from my home server.

I know allowing some expansion of the overall total would be nice, or at least a couple more tokens, even if we can't go over 36. I know that's a lot, but I think the devs would get a return on that investment.
  14. As I recall it, someone was all depressed since they didn't think we were getting anything other than the 1-20 stuff. That is what I'm responding to. But hey, if you want to be a downer about it all now, you go right ahead. The point is that there IS more content to GR than just the 1-20 stuff, morality arcs, and one Praetorian level. And I would be very surprised if it's just a little something here and there.

I'm glad that they won't have radio missions in Praetoria. I know some few like them, but they're rather generic and boring. I hate having to do them redside to get contacts so often (and for the accolade). I do hope this means that they will offer us multiple routes to 20, though. There will have to be loyalist and resistance runs, of course, but I hope the devs have noted how much people like the low levels blueside, as opposed to redside. A lot more options.

I've looked in some other threads on the Q & A, and I'm rather surprised at how negative people are, saying we didn't learn anything. I'm not sure why people thought they were going to bare their souls on everything to do with the game. They let us know more things about GR than we know already, and left plenty of room for more fun bits and pieces to get dropped from now to the summer.

For instance, we know for sure that Base raiding is very much on the back burner, but that they're still interested in it, PvP has something being worked on but won't show up for awhile, we'll get two character tokens with GR, there is more content for GR than we knew of... and, I think there were more bits. But I remember those most.

If anyone was expecting more, I'm not sure why. It's nice that they even do things like this, and I got to hear about things I didn't know earlier. Now to figure out if I should wait for GR to start a Cold/Storm Corruptor on Victory, or run one now, since I'll have two slots more to play with for GR. Hmmmm.

    Not quite as new

If I have a character with dark or lethal powers, I generally grab the Ghost Slaying axe. Helps out with those pesky CoT ghosts. Otherwise, it's Sands of Mu for me.

And gratz, Zam! I always thought you had been around longer than a year, actually, just not posting until about then. Nice to have you around and you're a great support to the community.

Seriously? They had over one thousand questions, and you're complaining that yours did not get answered over someone else's? How's your entitlement complex going for you? Nor is the playerbase dead. Ugh.

I'm not sure what people were expecting of this Q & A... were you all thinking they would bare all and let you know everything they are working on and thinking of working on? There was plenty of information in there that we didn't know already, and if your particular question or niggle didn't get answered, it's okay. You can survive this.

As it is, I was quite relieved to hear that we are getting more content in GR than just the level 1-20 stuff, the alignment changes things, and the one level of +50 stuff. Also, I heard we'd be getting two more slots for characters, which I didn't think I'd know for awhile yet. That helps me with new character creation right now, actually.

    So some good stuff.
  17. Sheesh, MG, how many questions did you ask? Did they tell you to stick it eventually?

Are you happy about this little interaction?

    [Ghost Falcon] Yes."
  18. Coordination sounds like the issue. If you don't work together getting down, dropping the spawn and guards, then destroying the generators, you could get in trouble.
  19. Welcome... though your avatar is creepy. It keeps staring at me...
  20. I personally don't use Hurricane much on my Earth/Storm because of the end costs, and that I don't usually need it. There is a lot more KD and -to hit in Earth/Storm than Cold/Storm, however, so I'll see if I need it. I can see it being more useful than Thunderclap at this point... I thought Thunderclap had a chance at Mag 3 disorient, but I must be getting it confused with the Peacebringer power, which is too bad. A chance is better than always being Mag 2.

Never sure if it's better to slot Power Sink style powers with some end reducs as well as end mod... seems like the effect will be better overall if you don't need to use so much endurance in the first place. But then getting it via an epic pool means it takes a lot longer to recharge, so I dunno.
  21. For anything that is not an EB/AV, a solo character with end drain does quite well. For AVs and Monsters, you usually need some backup. I was on a team that dropped Adamastor, and it took my guy 3/4 of the fight to drop his end bar to nothing (think it only took us a couple minutes to do it). But yeah... teams, it's just crazy fast and effective.
  22. Gah, I need to check this thread more often, sorry about the lateness of my reply.

Yes, I generally take my IOs at lower levels so I will still have the powers when I exemp to most content. I actually have taken to grabbing 31-33s so that I will still have bonuses with the Citadel TF at minimum. I don't have enough cash lying around to slot purples, so it works for me (I have a lot of alts and even alt builds: I'm still working on putting the offensive Fire/Fire build together for my Fire/Fire Tank... just one Obliteration proc away).

Some people prefer slotting higher to get slightly better numbers out of the powers, but it doesn't usually make too dramatic of a difference. There are very few sets in the low 30s that do not put you at the ED cap (or higher) for damage. So slotting higher levels usually only makes a difference in accuracy, endurance, and recharge, but not too dramatically (usually just a few percentage points in the 15-20 level range higher, which doesn't affect performance much). It's easy to pick up a lot of +accuracy bonuses on the way to make up for this, and the same for recharge. Endurance reduction levels don't really need to be any higher for those, either.

Up to you what you feel comfortable with, but this works well for me. Only downfall is that the low 30s recipe market isn't as brisk as it used to be, so you can find yourself waiting a bit for some of the more rare recipes.
  23. You should totally leave work early and start the raid up 30 minutes sooner.
  24. Yeah... never going to get that expensive, I think. I may one day slot a proc or two (if they ever drop for me), but until I have scads of extra cash laying about, it isn't going to happen. I have too many alts and even alt builds going to really afford Purples. Which is just fine: glad you're more patient than me (though I did have to wait a month or so for one recipe).

I think I'll leave Hurricane in the wings to substitute if it seems I need it, at this point. Unless someone else has some opinion on the better? *winks and nudges the Corrupter crowd*

    i17 open beta

It really doesn't make sense, either. If you're so worried about a takeover, only give mod status to those that you actually trust. And set your timing at more than 7 days. I would think a higher number is better no matter what. For VB and VB09, you could easily clear some space by putting it to 120 or even 240 days.

There are plenty of regular people (like me) who might be gone for a month or so. It's the people that have been gone for 6-9 months or more that maybe/probably aren't coming back for awhile, and they can always get back in when they come back, too.

All that conspiracy theory stuff is rather silly. Yeesh.
