Sewer Trial question...

Something was brought up both the first time I did the Abandoned Sewer Trial and on this most recent (failed...) attempt. Has anyone here actually had Rikti inside the trial instance that were in the level range instead of above it? Specifically for people who have run it since I16 dropped. I've always had the Rikti roughly +2 to the team even though my settings have never been that high and TFs are immune to difficulty changes until I17 hits. It's possible that it's been bugged this whole time and I've been merrily feeding PUGs to the Hydra (though that's not an entirely bad thought).

I know I have run this once if not twice since I16 (need coffee to kick in!). Anyhow, both times were successful without much difficulty.

What exactly was the issue with the Rikti level range?

They've always spawned up to 42, with most being 41, since as long as I can remember. I don't think any will spawn in the actual level range (38 - 40?) and I don't think I've ever seen a white/yellow spawn before (for the LTs and bosses at least).

I think all our spawns were at 42. One tank, five scrapper, one blaster, one defender.

A major problem was a very low level of coordination. Several people weren't reading team chat, some people had no sg/no base hospital, some people used the "wait five minutes dead to see if anyone will rez me" strategy, some people needed written instruction on how to exit their sg base and even then it took them ten minutes and multiple trips back through Atlas/sewers to figure it out. Plus a general lack of coordination.

That is about the only thing I can come up with as an explanation for not completing. To me, the team looked pretty solid. Hitting that window when the generators are down and the hydra is exposed is the whole key for the AST. The Rikti are more in the background for flavor, IMO.

I wonder if it still uses the old trial code. I forget the exact numbers, but stuff used to set something like even con with 1-4, +1 with 5-7, +2 with 8 on the team.

It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba

Regardless of team size, the levels have always been consistent for this. Pretty sure the same for Eden as well. I'm talking from Release till now.

Not sure how you guys failed this. With IOs/Bonuses, the various powersets available now, and the overall changes to the game, I was surprised just how easy this Trial became. I'm sorry I wasn't there

Coordination sounds like the issue. If you don't work together getting down, dropping the spawn and guards, then destroying the generators, you could get in trouble.

But Ham...Defenders can't waste time reading team chat!

AST technically isn't that hard in its own right but it has a high "lrn2play" factor. It's the TF separates the men and women from the children. Might try to setup another tonight or some point over the weekend. Despite being my 3rd failed run, I know I have a vastly higher success rate at running these than most (who seem utterly terrified at mentioning it). I will say that it is one place in the game where I vastly prefer having Fly over Super Jump and thus I'll probably try to run with my Blaster instead of my Scrapper. Plus, she's in range to get a Hydra-O.

There you go...you can "officially" blame Voodoo for any future failures.

It wasn't just that, however. Every time we took down the generators, there was always one guy doing it five seconds early and one guy doing it 20 seconds too late. That would always result in a lot of wasted particle gun shots (and time), as well as dealing with extra Rikti ambushes.

It was frustrating to say the least. The first time we took down the generators I was wondering what the hell was going on since we were wailing on the beast and nothing was happening, so I jumped over to a generator only to see two players just standing there gawking at the damn thing.

If you have to do this thing with players you have little experience teaming with you really have to be very specific in chat.

That's the thing, however.

Things WERE said in team chat. Several times. Before the TF started, before we entered, once we entered, AND once we got to the bottom and people STILL weren't getting it.

That's why I made my comment. There were a number of things that went wrong but it all stemmed from lack of communication. Plus, it was the most asinine thing I've heard in the game so far and laughing at it helped me resist the urge to facepalm.
