Quote:I don't recall if the new toxic dot also does -RES -- if not, might be better to keep reactive which does both.My time was after the Reactive fix. I don't have any rain powers so it really didnt affect me. I havent been too active on CoH since I got my new PC several mins ago so I don't have any of my Mids data easily accessible. I actually don't even have Mids installed at this point.
I was using Lore pets also, not sure if you had that on your Huntsman time. Without the Lore I seem to recall being around 1:10. Lore pets boosted with Musculature and double assault are no joke.
I'm wondering if it would be worth it changing over Reactive to the newer power that does the toxic DoT since Venom Grenade gives the massive toxic -res. One of the reasons I took a break from the game was I felt burnt out from the non stop trial runs though, so it'll be a while before I get around to that. I'm hoping the DA route in I22 isn't as slow as I'm hearing though.
No my times were not with Lore pets. Still like to see your build if you ever dig it up. -
I know ricohdah's been getting 300+ dps on pylons with his StJ/SR. That's with incarnate powers.

Quote:I think you need around 140%-150% total recharge with Hasten up, and roughly 88-90% recharge in Hoarfrost. How much +recharge do you need with 3-slotted Hasten to make it perma?
With Ice Armor having resistance against slow debuff, making it perma is even better! I think hasten on, I have about 127% recharge. Not quite enough but I think I rather have higher S/L defense with kinetic combat sets. A few seconds off shouldn't matter that much. -
Quote:I'd love to see your build. My huntsman can't get near that time even incarnated out -- I think I was around the 2 min mark (my build and times are posted in the last few pages of the Rikti Pylon thread). Was your time from before the fix to Reactive (when it was still broken in DOTs, rains, etc.)?Hover gun crab, perma-hasten, perma-pets, leadership stack, musculature alpha. My crab's the one that took down a pylon in 30 seconds. My crab has easily become my go-to character since I've built him to be very effective even when exemplaring.
I didn't slot for soft cap because crab has so much survivability in resistance, serum, pets, and high offense that it just seemed excessive. You can always pop a purple for added def but there are no insps for recharge. Hit fast and hit hard.
Everyone will build their crab differently, but this is what works for me... and exceptionally well. -
I wanted to run Musculature on a Scrapper for once.

Huntsman VEAT is a nice blend of sturdy melee (take bayonet) and ranged.
Plant/Fire/Fire dom is the dom that plays like a Brute. Seriously. -

There's a critic born every minute. What you need is a critique.

Any comments? I am uncomfortable with the heavy blow slotting, for one.

I thought it also had a big TOXIC hole. And the def-debuff weakness (low) is notable, no?
One thing I am noticing on soft-capped S/L/E/N toons is that the psi hole is HUGE for things like Carnies and Fortunatas/NW, especially on +3/+6-+8. An /SR or /SD positional toon sometimes fares better as even if the attacks are psi, they *sometimes* are tagged as positional (ranged, AOE, etc). 2 dark ring mistresses will shred my soft-capped Ice Armor stalker unless I deal with them quickly, etc. Just something to bear in mind for sets like EA. -
My last market victory was catching wind of the Enzyme / Membrane nerf very early in the day that word got out. I thankfully had COH on my laptop at work, and so I was able to log on and strip/dump off my toons before the prices fell to current levels. I even put in a few stopgap low-bid buys that turned out OK. And I nabbed a few Cytos before their prices went insane.
Other than that, I don't have the time to put in to do what TD always does. When he mentioned leveling up 10 pvp toons to sit in the radius of Spin and be harvested for PVP IOs, I was like, damn, that's an awesome idea. But I haven't got the time to do it. I have to choose between spending, maybe, 1-2 hours every day or two playing the game for fun -- doing TFs, iTrials, etc. -- or marketing/marketeering. For me, I prefer spending those 1-2 hours seeing if a toon can handle an ITF or take down a pylon in under 3 mins.
The level of marketing that goes on here, that TD and others show, is something I completely respect, but can't bring myself to do in the game time I have alotted. I am, however, slightly bummed that the Enhance Converter low-value-purple-binging destroyed my ongoing niche of flipping Absolute AmazementsWhoever you were letting me buy at 66M and flip for 120M, I thank you for some good times.

Quote:And no mez protectionEclipse is on my list of powers that I wonder what the devs were drinking when they gave them to us. Eclipse would be considered a major exploit in most other MMOs.
Of course, Warshades also get Stygian Circle, so its possible the devs just really like Warshades. -
Quote:How do you see what Mac OS you are running? And how do you do the upgrade? Is it free?I just wanted to encourage anybody who hasn't upgraded to Mac OS X "Lion" yet to do so if you can. I upgraded my 2008 iMac a couple weeks ago, and the difference between Snow Leopard and Lion is like night and day. The game runs as smooth as butter now, and I've even been able to increase many of my graphics settings.
-
Especially with the stalker changes on test ... you can work an out-of-hide AS into your attack chain just fine and get the new bonus damage, without ever touching Placate.
-
I've been running an StJ/WP scrap and I'm a bit underwhelmed by the damage. Crushing Uppercut doesn't seem to hit like quite the truck I expected, and it does require some self-positioning to optimize the Targeted AOE (Spinning Strike) and then the Cone (Sweeping).
Also honestly I'm not in love with the kicking animations of Shin Breaker and Rib Cracker. With they at least had an alternative punch for rib cracker.
My WM/SD feels like he hits harder -- with Clobber and Shatter -- but maybe that's /SD and not WM. -
OK I looked at your build quicky.
You are missing Follow Through which is sad as it is one of the best attacks in the set. Read the thread by Combat in the Brute forums about TW/Elec Optimization.
Also you should consider slotting a Force Feedback +Recharge in Whirling Smash. It is *so* worth it.
You also should try to fit the -RES achilles heel in Rend Armor, and if you have the 500M around, the -RES Glad Combat in Arc of D. -
Here's my TW/SR brute for comparison. I have a lot of long posts in the Rikti Pylon thread (Scrapper forum) about his performance -- they are the last posts in the thread. 296dps with T4 Reactive.

Quote:I don't know that you can make a blanket statement like that ... well, you *made* it but I don't know if it is true.StJ has the DPS advantage thanks to the lengthy recharge of TW's attacks, but obviously loses in sheer burst damage.
Fact: Combat has shown 300+ dps on his TW/Elec Brute and I have gotten 296dps on my TW/SR. That is with T4 Reactive. I don't know any StJ toon (with T4 Reactive) that has posted that kind of dps. Maybe they do but I haven't seen them. -
I used to have a single keybind for goto-aggressive with the bruiser, but i lost it. Anyone remember?

is there a channel for this? i might move my MM to X if there's regular teamin
-
Anyone out there with good experience of either set who can comment?

Nice work Ricodah - realized I forgot the +3 def IOs lol ...
Here is a purpled build that gets down to 7.11 recharge in CB. You would +5 the recharge IO in Build Up, and probably the 2 in hasten. It only uses 3 purple sets, so it's not that bad. But it does also use the PVP IO.
I'm showing 45.6% S/L and 43.7% E/N before you factor in supressed Hide (which mids shows, I think, as 2.65%) -- which would put you comfortably over softcap. Then you can slot Energy Absorption for Endo instead (I think it's autohit? If not, sub the Acc/End IO for the End/Recharge).
Endo use looks like a problem, but I guess you'd be relying on Icy Bastion up every 85 secs or so (30 sec duration) along with Energy Absorption every 22 secs to handle it.
This way you could run Musculature Alpha. Maybe Musc doesn't make that much of a difference on a Stalker, but I was thinking it would really juice your dmg. If not, then stick with the other build using Spiritual.
If you could handle being at 44.55% E/N before Energy Absorption, you could move a slot out of Fire Blast into Glacial Armor (Def IO) and the other slot out of Fire Blast into Spinning Strike to slot the +Rchrg IO ... which really might be good for bringing Icy Bastion, Build Up, etc. back more often. Not sure if it's worth the loss of def.
EDIT: Viper, that's a neat idea to use Ageless for the +recharge / endo / debuff resist. I always tend to go Rebirth on Def-based toons but no reason you could't do both and swap as needed. Anyone really know if Musculature is worth it on a Stalk?

Quote:I like the idea (posited here I believe) of StJ/Ice. Whipped up a quick build, but couldn't quite reach the softcap on E/N. Wanted to see if it could run Ricodah's StJ chain too - but I think it falls a bit short. Open to suggestions. After i22 is released, I will post a vid of my StJ/SR vs a pylon. 4:02 (286 DPS).
Also, wasn't there a question about Chilling Embrace interfering with Placate?

Here's my plant/fire/fire permadom build (live) if it gives you any ideas. One key, even with SOs/IOs, is slotting Roots for damage not for immob. It does great spammable AOE damage.
