One BIG improvement found while using this driver is that task-switching now works when running full-screen! I've tried this both with and without desktop composition, and while using a non-Aero theme; it's all good!
-
Thanks for the heads up.
Note: do a clean install of these drivers should you decide to use them; I first installed over my previous drivers and ended up with a Grey Screen of Death. Used Driver Sweeper and installed them clean, and things have been running good thus far. -
Quote:I also agree with this. If the set will no longer be granting extraordinary bonuses, it really shouldn't require extraordinary salvage requirements.Castle,
I doubt it's easily done, so it might not be in consideration, but what about the salvage requirements for these IOs?
BotZ are the only IOs (other than purples and a couple of the very best procs) that require multiple pieces of VERY expensive, rare, salvage to create for each IO.
While I certainly agree that the set bonuses are currently too good, I had always just considered the high merit costs and high salvage requirements as part of the balancing factor for how good the set bonuses were, but with those being slashed.... -
I do wish that the set had either been brought into line before it was added to the game, or fixed some time ago before people got too accustomed to the bonuses and spent lots of inf trying to get them. Still, if something is unbalanced it does need to be fixed. at least you're handing out a freespec and looking into the possibility of making the cost of the sets more in-line with similar sets.

Doesn't necessarily mean anything. The dual Pistols OB forums have been up for a while now - the set went live at the beginning of this month, after all - and having a largely pointless set of forums sitting around is just an eyesore. I've been wondering for a while myself when those forums were going to be taken down.
That said, the only ones who know if Issue 17 is ready for open beta or not are the developers, and they likely won't say anything until open beta is right upon us. Don't think the Training Room has been patched in maybe a week or so, so maybe we could be quickly approaching open beta. Conversely, based on personal experience in past CoH closed betas, going for a little while without a new patch is certainly no indicator of the overall state of the build.
Short version: Maybe, maybe not. Either way, we likely won't know until a Red Name posts saying that we're going into open beta. -

So you're saying there's gonna be plenty of cheesecake in Praetoria? I mean, c'mon ... I have seen your DeviantArt portfolio.

Quiet you!
Don't ruin the image I have in my head of Ken Morse and David Nakayama fighting to the death!
It's awesome! -
David doesn't look it at first, but he's rather scrappy. Also, he fights damn dirty.

While pretty much everything sounds good, the two things I'm most looking forward to are Ultra Mode and the post-50 content. Ultra Mode so that I'll be able to use all the normal graphics options with my ATI 5850 video card (new shiny stuff is just icing on the cake), and the post-50 stuff because, well ... it's post-50 stuff!

NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
Fairly standard, though. Community reps generally have relatively high turnover rates. Part of that is the nature of the job - you can only take so much of one community for so long, even if it was a good community - and part of it is that if they're lucky, some community folks can maneuver their way into better industry jobs. In Niviene's case, it appears to be the latter. -

Quote:I was looking at the dev digest and I noticed, it's been months since a dev or moderator has posted anything in the other forums. Especially the training room, or player questions. Only the devs truly can answer player questions since the players don't know what this game can and cant do due to engine and software limitations. One dev actually posted an Ask a Dev thread, and got 3 pages of questions with not one answer. Why ask a dev if there will be no answer.
Look through the other sections of this forum, go to the development section, answer the questions in ask a dev. That was just a slap in the face to tell us to ask you a question and never answer any of them. -
Yeah ... that's a pretty damn sizable patch
Of course, knowing this dev team, I wouldn't be surprised if some finished art resources for Going Rogue were slipped in as well in order to make both the future pre-download and the download itself more manageable.
Still, that's gonna take a little while. -

In any event, Jack's not on the dev team, and hasn't been for a few years now. So who really cares?

Quote:It was no more major changes to powers that he promised, after the latest in a series of Regeneration nerfs and rebalancings. Then ED came. Technically, he was right, as ED was a change to the enhancement system and not to any particular power. Still, many saw this as him having lied to them, as changing the enhancement system in such a big way had net effects on EVERY powerset. There was also the Global Defense Reduction, but I can't recall if it was before or after ED. Same basic thing, though: while not a nerf to any particular power or powerset, it drastically affected all defensive powers. The problem with Jack is two-fold.
One the one hand, a lot of people felt that he lied to them. I never quite understood how and why, as apparently I missed something, but that was a large part of it. There was something about how he promised no more major changes shortly before instituting ED that had people in a furor, but I'm not as easily excitable, so I honestly don't know. There's a LOT of that.
Ultimately, Jack's biggest issue was one of communication. Having come from an academic background, he had the tendency to communicate to the playerbase instead of communicating with them. As others have mentioned, he was also very quick to make proclamations about big new things that were coming to the game before actually knowing that they were in fact do-able. Say what you will, but I'd rather the developers play things close to their chests with regard to future additions to the game as opposed to having developers who say "Hey, look what we've got planned!" and later have to retract what they say.
Of course, the whole "Marvel MMO/Freem 15" thing didn't earn him any favors from the players of this game. But by that point, Jack had already moved on from day-to-day duties involving CoH. He's not the vile being that some still make him out to be, and I'm honestly a little scared of the folks who still harbor such hatred and contempt for the guy who used to be in charge of a video game they play. But he certainly could have done things better. -

Hey, look what I did!
And all it took was me copying and pasting a post from the Dual Pistols Open Beta forum. -
Note: These are assumed to be the changes patched in today due to the Training Room and Live updaters now being the same version. They also do not take into account the addition of the Dual Pistols powerset to the live game (dependent upon pre-order of Going Rogue) or the fixing of any exploits.
