No worries, Cambo. Just let me know if you'd like me to not continue.

    Top 100 SG/VG

OK, I thought I'd have a go at this. I've copied the list from the last posting and generated this list. Any requests on format are welcome. (Sorry it's blurry, but just fine tuning as I go along.)

Also, if anyone can advise of any of the alignment of these SGs will be greatly appreciated.
  3. That’s an interesting build, windenergy21. I never really thought about having a build like that where I focus more on the DB attacks. It looks like a fun build do so some good soloing.

I’ve taken advice from above (very much appreciated) and had yet another jiggle of slots and enhances. I’ve still tried to focus on the debuffs in granite first, then improve recovery and end spend. I’ve totally scrapped psi res, as I couldn’t get at least 15% without sacrificing something else.

I’ve only used the Weaken and Empower combos as they only take 4 attacks to pick, plus the handy little buff/debuff they provide.

Once I get the 60 month vet reward (just over 3 months away) I'll be able to move Recall Friend to a later level and make Stamina and Blinding Feint available sooner.

I think this is the finished article, but please do make any comments.

  4. Ah, yes, I was meant to add that I’m trying to compensate for the minuses that Granite gives. Plus, improving the recovery rate. The recharge and accuracy has been an issue for me at times as well.

Thanks for your input, Katie V and ZizsiS. Admittedly, my favourite toon is a scrapper and I do like to be able to dish out a bit of damage. But, I have been enjoying this toon very much. And I am trying to make this a toon where I can solo it and be a team player as well.

I do like the Pyre Mastery (primarily Fire Ball) to help with the taunt cap and the seriously high damaging toons I team with regularly. So, I'm a little reluctant to give that up. But that doesn't mean I can't be persuaded - just be gentle with me.

After a bit of head scratching, I've come up with something a little more "team friendly" (after all, I can always dual-build for more appropriate soloing):

  5. Hi,

This is a build I made after trying out Dual Blades on a tanker, which I enjoy playing. I'm not too experienced with slotting and bonuses and numbers and stuff (total n00b), but I thought I could give this a shot.

I would like some constructive critisism and advice, please.

    Fire/Rad Help

Thanks for that, LM. I've been playing the toon a lot since respeccing to a normal IO build and have been enjoying it a lot! I'll be using the dual build for the set IOs as and when I get the recipes and slot them inbetween times.

Both travel powers give what's required for the build, but my preference is SJ.

I thought I would slot an Aegis +status instead, but I think you're right by having the KB prot. I've lost count how many times I've ended up on my behind tonight. Hehe!

I really appreciate the advice! I wouldn't be having so much fun with this toon without it!

Yes, I know what you mean about getting mezzed... I had that the other day with Scirocco (the swine!).

Thanks for the help, Local_Man! I'll be back soon with an IO Set build for you to run a fine comb through (as long as you don't mind, that is...).

Thanks for the info, MaHaBone23. I think I'm being persuaded to switch to Psi Mastery now.

Thanks very much for the advice! Now, I just have to scratch my brain on where to slot the IO sets... hehe

    Fire/Rad Help

Thanks for the build, Local_Man! That's definitely food for thought.

I do use Bonfire myself, especially against KB resisting mobs like Cim Traitors.

I do have 1 question, though - how is Psionic Tornado used? I'm guessing this is a toe-to-toe toon and chucking mobs all over the place kind of defeats the object? Or is it that the holds/immobs keep them in place or bounce back off Bonfire?

    Sorry, total 'troller n00b... :/

    Fire/Rad Help

I’ve been trying to look for inspiration for my fire/rad (using the same guide above - d’oh!) and what Panzer has said here makes sense. The only problem is this is my one and only troller (and is lvl 50) but this should fit right at home for me. But I’m a little unsure of what other powers I should chose.

I’m having a guess at what to pick and when. Does this sound any good?

    1 - Char
    1 - Radiation Aura
    2 - Fire Cages
    4 - Accelerate Metabolism
    6 - Radiation Infection
    8 - Hot Feet
    10 - Enervating Field
    12 - Hasten
    14 - Super Speed
    16 - Swift
    18 - Flash Fire
    20 - Lingering Radiation
    22 - Cinders
    24 - Health
    26 - Stamina
    28 - Choking Cloud
    30 - Stealth
    32 - Fire Imps
    35 - Tactics
    38 - Assault
    41 - Fire Ball
44 - Rise of the Phoenix or Fire Blast
    47 - Consume
    49 - Recall Friend

It does say on the box to my motherboard (i got it with the comp when they made it for me) that it's intel quad-core ready.

Just feels not worth it just buying a new graphics card. I just don't think the rest of my computer would keep up with it. Granted a 275 isn't the most expensive thing, but i get the feeling "what if it doesn't really do much?"

This might help as it's the spec of your motherboard from the offical site.

You should be able to fit 8GB in there, but you're limited to socket 775 CPUs. The most expensive Pentium 4 I can see (from only 1 website, mind) is £65. But I agree that you should definitely update your graphics card. maybe even and give your components a good clean (dust does slow things down a tad) and format and re-install everything. You'll be surprised at the performance increase.

Mine isn't any where near as up to date as anyone else's PC, but I spent around £450-£500 buying new bits and building my current PC and it's such a big improvement to what i had before (I had same graphics card as you and less memory & worse CPU). My PC now looks like something this:

    Asus M3N78 Motherboard
AMD Tri-Core Black Edition (had to cut back from quad due to lack of cash)
ASUS 9800GTX+ 512MB Dark Knight Edition (requires 2 power connectors or it'll have basic settings running...)
    350GB SATA2 hard drive
    3GB RAM
    650W power supply

It's not that fab looking, but I get no lag and I can run every game I have on max settings, including CoX.

But whatever you choose, I hope it improves your gaming life.

Gah! Should have looked before posting on a 6 (soon to be 7) page forum thread... All this new shineyness is making me dizzy...

I believe the forum password and account password are one and the same. I *thought* I'd forgotten my password, so followed the links straight to the NCSoft account pages. Sorry, Dave.
  15. I’d like to see a huge ginger bread man (GM size) that:

    * throws exploding jelly tots or gum drops that slows movement
    * a shoe-lace sweet (or candy, if you prefer) as a ranged melee weapon with a chance of holding
    * has a belly-flop attack that has a ridiculously large PBAoE knockdown
    * stomp attack with knockdown
    * summons a rain of cookie dough (again, large PBAoE)
    * summons chilli-flavoured jelly babies that melt when defeated and leaves behind a bubbling mass on the floor like mud pots

He would be the end to all that is cookie heaven.

    Or

Attack of the Giant Killer Turkeys all over Paragon City

    Coz they like cookies too.

    Or

    Mork! Nanoo nanoo!

Can’t think of a good enough reason, but he’ll confubble everyone and there’ll be a mass Hero vs Hero/Villain vs. Villain free-for-all (depending on where you are...).

That's just a tad disrespectful, don’t you think? Maybe there’s a history I don’t know between you, but I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t appreciate being spoken to like that regardless.

Sorry to see you’re leaving Gall_.

I'm betting that RTF/RSF get used, although I prefer 5TF/5SF!

But for now they will be newTF/newSF

But RSF is already taken with Recluses

    I think you'll find it's LRSF...

    Speculation....

Sound like a different way of getting rid of the EU servers to me. I *think* the least populated servers would be the EU ones. I could very well be wrong. And then there's the case of moving alts to other servers and name conflicts, etc. Or loose them. I doubt it would happen. But that's just a guess. The US should keep theirs and we (the EU) should keep ours.

I have no issue with lag (since updating my PC and 10MB broadband) and like it just the way it is.

Place your bets on how many "Hulk" characters are going to be made when this goes live

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not to mention Jekyll and Hyde. And Frankenstein.
  20. My favourite alt would have to be Golden Samurai (kat/regen scrapper). My very first character created and first to get to 50, but that took a while (I had created a few alts before he hit 50). He’s also my badge wh0re. I still play him regularly, but I also like to play my others alts as well.

My most fun to play alt has been Mistress Char (fire/rad troller) and used a build that I found on the US forums designed around aggression and damage (which I’ve had to tweak quite a bit). It’s a lot of fun charging into a full mob with 1 of 2 outcomes - standing or face-planted.
  21. Golden_Samurai

    Would you?

I must admit it is very tempting to use all of these, but only for a single purpose. I don't do things for the sake of doing it.

For example, I'd grab as much inf as I could just so I can get those pesky crafting badges (tends to be difficult for me when I only play a couple of times a week and have 14 or so alts) and to get my 1st villain to 50 (still about 35 after 2 years!). And maybe to help along the not-quite-so-fun-to-get-early-levels, as mentioned by Sinergy_X. Then that would be it. I think...

    Thanks for the post, Saxtus!

I’ve just checked it out the official website and noticed a problem with the Union Jack in the 7th picture... See if you can spot it.

    It's a common mistake really.

And has (allegedly) been corrected on the latest version on Test Server.

Oh good, coz I was most vexed when I saw the offensive 'flag'. LOL

  24. It's a tad annoying that I can't see these vids while I'm at work (no sound - it's a little quiet to be having them on), but will check them out when I get home.

My partner is about 7 weeks away from giving birth to our sprog, so happy days for both of us! Hehe!
  25. Is that a recent scan pic, Baby_Phoenix? Congratulations, regardless.
