  3. Golden_Pie

    Stalker offense

hmmm, well I have a Elec/Ninja and a Spine/WP so I am familar with those two and with EM too, but what about MA. MA at least on paper looks pretty strong (and different than what I already have) doesn't EC perform well?
  4. Golden_Pie

    Stalker offense

Need some help with the pros and cons for a couple stalker melee sets, I can't seem to decide...

Electric vs Dark vs Martial Arts

Thunderstrike vs Maul & MG vs Eagle's Claw

    Thanks in advance!
  5. I think you can't go wrong with either of those that you have already (Mind/Fire or Elec/Earth). Having a Mind/Fire (my prefered Dom), Fire/Earth, and Earth/Psi, my vote would be for you to finish off the Mind/Fire. Nothing beats Blaze. And on the mind half I prefer Terrorize to any Immob power (wider cone, better control, etc), Sleep is great mitigation allowing you to take on one target at a time, Also with the Mind/Fire you can choose to fight up close or at distance at 100% effectivness unlike Elec/Earth which requires melee distances.
  6. Hmm well not taking Hasten on that build you are loosing survivabilty because your the longer recharge on your heal...and I am not sure how it affects any attack chain you have either.

to compare here's a Elec/SS build with 5 second foot stomp and perma hasten and Energize

  9. Golden_Pie

    DM/Elec viable?

How much mileage do you think I can get out of this build?

  10. VEATs are awesome and I really like my Fort/NW (both builds IOd out) and my Bane, they are both in my top 5 favorite toons.

I'll only go as far as saying they are the most well rounded

I'll agree that they are head and shoulds above k"HELD"ians, and they are very versitile like playing as a Dom on LGTF to hold the Green Mitos, or support on LRSF to provide team +def, +tohit and -regen on the AVs,etc.
  11. yeah sorry about that I was kind of pissy in my one post.....

But I think I'm gonna look at something like this which can use the MG>Smite>SL>Smite chain and for the situations where it makes sense I have Ball Lightning and Shadow Maul for some AOE. And on the rare occasion I need to pull I'll have Zapp to save a Blaster from dieing after snipping an AV or something...ha ha

Not to mention that when fighting those damn Praetorian robots and such, I need the extra attacks when they sloooooooowww me down. I think the Praetorian Seers also slow you down.

The only thing I fear on this toon is the Carin (sp?)

  13. yeah I rolled DM for SL and Soul Drain, having Shield Charge and another AOE is to round the char. out. It's not like I only plan to solo AV's or Rikti pylons. When I solo I run at least +2 x 6 so yeah I need the AOE and it makes for a good teammate and a lot of orange on my screen with multiple crits....mmmm yummy, orange
  14. well I tested Fire Ball vs Ball Lightning one one of my Stalkers and BL did about 75-80% the damage that FB did.

There isn't a single attack in the DM primary that doesn't outperform Fire Blast. Even Siphon Life because it carries utility in it's heal, making that far superior in a chain than anything you could replace it with. MG>Smite>SL>Smite is the top chain, and no APP is going to exchange this.
oooops sorry about the order mix up, and we weren't really having a fued, but in order to get some AOE (i.e. Fire Ball) the marginal difference between Shadow Punch and Fire Blast doesn't make up for having more AOE dmg, which is a weak point of DM. I don't think that FB is all that and a ball a wax too but it gives range to a scrapper, a fairly good attack that's worth slotting, and a stepping stone to some desired AOE.

And yes the Mids numbers for Fire Blaze are too high.

As far as the attack chain I wish I could fit in a fully slotted Shadow Punch so I could keep SL in reserve for the moment I need it.

hmmmm....I wonder how Ball Lightning really compares in-game to Fire Ball??? Anyone know???

because Then I could do this...

Fire Blast (No DoT): 62.56dmg for 43.09DPA

As you can see, Midnight Grasp and Smite are your two best DPA powers while Fire Ball and Fire Blast are somewhere between worst and 3rd depending on how many ticks of damage you get. Hell, you'd be better off firing off a Shadow Punch instead of a 0 tick Fire Blast.

Moral of the Story: Ancilary Power Pool attacks are exactly that, ancilary. You're better off sticking to your normal attacks than trying to use APP attacks in a DPS chain. (Excluding Gloom of course)
Well I won't be taking your adivce any time soon, here's a picture of what happens in game not theory. Here's the results of attacking possesed scientists in PI (all attacks slotted with 3 red SO's).

    http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...ireBlast-1.jpg

Here are the calculations of Damage Per second of Activation (DPA)

    1 - Midnight Grasp - 2.07 activation - 447.76 dmg - 216.31 DPA
    2 - Smite - .97 activation - 196.48 dmg - 202.56 DPA
    3 - Fire Blast - 1.2 activation - 189.52 dmg - 157.93 DPA
    4 - Shadow Punch - .83 activation - 136.26 dmg - 164.17 DPA
    5 - Siphon Life - 1.93 activation - 181.46 dmg - 94.02 DPA

I think those are my top picks, DM/SD and Fire or MA/SD because Shield is so awsome. Shield delivers a dmg bonus, a great AOE attack and hitting the soft cap is achieved easily enough.

    By comparison I have a 50 BS/Regen, 50 DM/Regen, 50 Spine/DA, 50 FFF Scrap, and a 50 DM/SD Scrap. I like all Scraps but I do prefer my SD Scrap over my other ones.

I also have 3 other Shield toons including a 50 ELM/SD Brute, 50 SD/SS Tank, and a 50 SD/FA Tank. As you could tell I like Shield Defense! In fact I am thinking of rolling a MA/SD next, but I am worried about missing Siphon Life...

Yeah the lava is your friend, if you can get him to stay in the lava he's easy to kill

    Screw the cottage.

If the vast majority of people skip a power like Dim Shift (and they do), then it needs to go. I would defy anyone who does use DS to state they'd prefer keeping it over something new like this Gravity Well.

Free respecs could be granted to all gravity control character upon the power's replacement. Majority are happy and minority are compensated.

They don't even need to replace the power, they can just add abother one so people can choose

    Elec/?

Yeah about that...there's too much KB in Energy, you'll knock targets out of your PBAOEs, I think there's a reason why many pair Earth Assault with EC. With Earth you also get power boost and more damage with out the counter productive KB, which is win/win/win

cool, oh don't get me wrong Smite performed really well, I think the only thing that performs better is possibly incinerate and storm kick, but Fire Blast was doing better than other powers besides Smite.

But I'd be very interested in what you find

The best DM attack chain should be Midnight Grasp=>Smite=>Siphon Life=>Smite.

I'll double check on my DM/Regen nothing but I seem to remember Fire Blast doing in the mid 60's unslotted and Ring of Fire only a tiny bit more (65ish sounds about right). Smite should be around 82 damage base unslotted.

Edit: Forgot to mention that Smite animates in under a second and Fire Blast and Ring of Fire are both a bit over a Second so Smite's DPA should be a good 40-50% higher than Fire Blast/Ring of Fire.

Actually testing last night against +1 Rikti Minions, Smite was just outperforming Fire blast

I'm thinking something like this will work better for me, I think I'll raid one of my well equip less used toons to outfit my scrapper:

I also prefer this to the last build posted because there are more useful powers slotted like Fire Blast and Fire Ball, rather than wasting 4 slots on things like boxing with purple stun IOs and 3 more on Char.
