I went back to Jet Amago aka Taclobanon for my Dual Blades/Super Reflexes scrapper, Justice Fencer, in her Zorro-inspired costume to celebrate her dinging 50.
It isn't as complex a piece as Shadowguardinal but Fencer is a much less complex and an easier-going character. I think he captured her spirit pretty well and I'm very pleased. -
hmmm... I wonder how they handle it if you create a Praetorian then use some $5 discount GvE box at some game store to activate your account? Do you become unable to log that character in?

That sounds about right. I ran 10 villain tip missions having dropped 1 or 2 I didn't like the choices on. I had a blast running all of them but the tip missions that dropped during the morality were all repeats of what I had just done. My other villains in the 30's are getting the same ones my stalker already ran.
I hope they'll be doubling them soon and add to them on a regular basis otherwise it'll be kind of a grind to get the alignment merits/powers. -
<Edit to remove question>
Ok, apparently I had to go back to the tailor to reset the colors of my pattern back to normal. I'm good now. -
Unfortunately, as usual, I can't join.
But my brother would like to bring his main - Deathmaster Snitch, level 24 stalker. He's only been playing about 3 or 4 weeks but really itching to try a SF if you guys can put up with him. He can't seem to ever make it to our SG TF/SF runs so this will be his first. -
Yeah, the laziestguy art is neat. An interesting style that is full of energy. Grats on a great set.

I like the vigilante missions where you have to make the hard choice - save the two guys impressed by the Council (and persumably keep doing it, at least for the ones you hear about) or go destroy the lab that turns their "volunteers" into monsters and stop the cycle. Both are apparently heroic in the eyes of the authorities so no crossed lines as far as the law is concerned.
And when you come across an alignment mission that doesn't fit your personal view of that aligntment or your character then just drop it and hunt for a new one. That's what I did. Of course, it will help when they add new tip missions which I certainly hope they intend to do. -
When I started doing villainous missions on my stalker it seemed like all three tips I had were "use situation to lure random heroes into a trap". I did the first one and dropped the other two with a feeling of dread that they'd all be like that but thankfully the next two were much better.
I still got several others like that but I managed to get 10 done without too much repetition of that theme and no repition of tips (although now on my other villains I'm seeing all the same tips over again).
I haven't done very many hero tips. The only one I remember of the vigilante options was the one where I find a wanted poster of me... the vigilante move was to go beat up Longbow for daring to doubt my hero cred... which seemed kind of odd to me. But then I don't know how that mission would have turned out since I was running the heroic missions and got to beat up my clone instead. -
That's what I heard. I already have it set to high so I'm stumped. Guess I'll tinker with it but this seems broken to me even if a video setting makes it better.
-
These have been missing since issue 17. I'm talking about things like the chevron on a heater or a wreath on a round. The main pattern works fine. You can set it but not see it in the costume creator. If you had a shield with a secondary pattern before issue 17 and haven't edited that costume then it appears black.
I heard recently that this turned out to be a video option (which if true blows - everyone should be able to see your costume regardless of video settings) but if it is I can't find it. As far as I can tell it is broken. Can anyone clear this up for me? Still considered a bug yes/no?

Oh yeah, forgot you have to actually own GR to get a morality mission. Good catch.
-
Actually it drops like any other tip mission anytime after you've complete the 10th mission. I got mine inside the 10th but only because I kept clearing the map after I completed it.
So the answer is yes, a little street sweeping or running a regular (scanner) mission should make the morality drop pretty quickly. Just make sure you have room for it (have less than 3 tips needing investigation). -
Quote:LOLI'd say it's a bit much, but then I'd get chewed out by those that want the game harder.
I'd give you rep if we still had it.
Fortunately it's easy enough to avoid them by just turning bosses off when they start getting on your last nerve. I kind of like the challenge they present if it's like 2 in a mission, not so much if they are showing up in every spawn. -
Last Avatar has a great look to her. I love the pose. The sash adds a lot of motion low to match the motion of the hair above. The face is interesting, almost 3d - I like it. The upraised hand, like she just put her glove on, is just classic and I'm digging it.
You keep coming up with awesome pieces CH. -
Quote:I can grok that, but bear in mind that it's just not compatible with the notion of tweaking out a Regen for max performance. I don't think you ever said it was, so please know I'm not arguing with you. I'm just trying to point out to all reading that there's sort of two divergent goals going on in discussion here - skipping the sorta "meh" powers to make room for stuff that helps you live longer, and doing things like taking powers to learn first hand which ones are "meh".
Yeah sure, I can see that. I'm just trying to understand the ins and outs of the set and what I can do to get the most out of her despite the limitations I've put on her. My thoughts on global recharge being a great start is confirmed and I learned that I'm using the set similar to how others play it so on that level, this thread is pure win for me.
And if I want a future uber-Jiao after she's 50 I think I can see how to do that now, probably using the second build to experiment until I get something I like. -
I don't really have anything against them and I have it on my Brute. If I could get either or both without having to get Boxing/Kick I'd get them a lot more often.
Also, I like to take all or most of both sets if I've never taken them before (both MA & Regen are brand new to me). So that's like 17-18 powers I'd like to take or 15 at a minimum. I'd kind of like to have Hasten too so between all that, fitness (no lectures please), and flight (for Air Superiority - love that mitigation) I'm up to 21 powers with 3 left which could be fighting if I didn't want the Fire Mastery for concept purposes.
So I can drop the concept and add them at 41, 44, and 47. Or stick with my concept and accept that I'll be a little squishier. *shrugs*
That reminds me, I need to respec her soon to get Cobra Strike over Thunder Kick. I suppose at the same time I could drop Revive and Char (another good damage mitigation, especially when paired with the controller to lock down a boss quickly) to get Boxing (bleh I won't even bother putting it in the tray) and Tough with weave coming at 47... but I doubt I will. -
Around 15 minutes but I've only used it like 3 times in 2 years and never right after an issue release.
Edit to add: The other two times were very fast, like around 5 minutes. -
Martial Arts
I know she doesn't EVEN compare to my Dual Blades/SR (who called the same Shadowhunter a whimp) but she's still fun and now my highest level character that isn't 50.
I managed to cheaply add 10% defense to the SR scrapper and I'm sure I could do it for this one but I don't know about fitting Weave in. I'm not sure what 3 powers I would want to drop for the extra... what? 5%? Ah well, I don't usually have trouble getting a team for her when I want it (she's pretty popular among the coalition at large for some reason) so I guess I shouldn't worry too much about it. -
Quote:I would too... but let's drop the need to do a mayhem at all and let old contacts give you new contacts just like blue side does now. Problem solved. Then you only need to do papers to get the mayhem badge if you wanted it.I'd also like a revamp of the contact system redside. Especially the five papers to get a mayhem at higher levels. I hate papers. I like content. Leave it at three all the way to 50. With XP smoothing, patrol XP and the addition of the RWZ and Cimerora running out of content isn't a problem anymore, and if you do run out you can always choose to do papers, or run tips.

My usual strategy is to try and keep Dull Pain running all the time because the regen is so good with it. Recharge IO's together with AM from my controller friend keeps it up most of the time. When he isn't around I use it like you are describing - first line of healing when I get to 50%.
I use Moment of Glory to absorb the alpha and it works very well for that. Against the EB last night I triggered it before popping the lucks and after all of them expired but of course it doesn't last long enough to really help much against a persistent threat like that. Who knows when that Big Bash of Instant Death is coming until you see the animation and then it is too late.
Timing Reconstruction seems like an art form. Sometimes I'll hit it too soon and then wish I had it a 15 seconds later. Sometimes I wait too long and die while activating it. Mostly I have it down about right although I wish it recharged faster straight out of the box.
I only use Instant Healing when I'm fighting a very big group (like party members are starting to drop kind of big) or for the named bosses. In those cases I'll trigger it just after the first Reconstruction well after the fight as started.
Does all that sound about right or am I still Grasshopper with much to learn? I haven't taken Tough/Weave on any of my scrappers and don't really want to start now. It isn't like I'm trying to do +4/x8 or anything. I just want to enjoy the set combo (which usually means taking most or all of both power sets) and play the game. -
Anything that does the same mission twice or more in a row (e.g. Unai & Citadel) or does more than one street hunt in the entire arc.
All of the random mission street hunts should be dropped - it feels too much like your contact is busy and throws it out for the pesky hero to do to get you off their back. Replace them with real missions. None of the villain contacts (that I'm aware of) do this. I've seen hero contacts, especially the ones in IP, give out 3 or 4 of these in a row.
Most of the 3-mission "Story Arcs" villain-side need to be fleshed out a little to make them meatier and turn them into true arcs instead of a couple of related missions. Then again, after running villain tips all weekend... I'd settle for putting in enough of these to get us from level 20 to 50! They are wonderful missions and I never felt more villainous on my stalker. Great stuff! MORE MORE MORE! -
Nonetheless, it's an interesting question.
24 characters, 1 has a second build for RP purposes (group fly and some other showy powers I'd never otherwise give a character, it isn't slotted at all).
I am thinking of giving Shadowguardinal (my first 50) a second build so I can slowly start filling it with IO sets. That and having a solo vs group build are the only things I can think of ever using the second build for.
