Quote:I don't play the market that much, anyway - I want the last Inf badge, and that's only with earned Inf, so selling doesn't help at all.Fair enough. I was grumpy this morning. And my reaction wasn't just in response to your misconceptions, but more to the aggregate of misconceptions (which then unintentionally become misinformation when restated). And hey, if it's worked for you so far, no harm in that, right?

I've only recently gotten into more serious marketeering as I've realized how long it would take me to acquire a set of purples the way I acquire most invention sets: waiting for drops or low bids on the market. I don't have till infinity. At least not any more.
Plus, I'm full up with IO sets, and while I have purples in storage, I'm not sure if they're relaly that much better than th set bonus I have now. -

Quote:No, if it was secret police, it'd be you who'd vanishI think maybe we need another forum independent of the company where people can talk more freely when you aren't even allowed to tell people what was said when you get threatened by the "moderators" and discussion gets vanished, it's all very secret police...

I see he mentions it going live "summer/fall" - would the closed and open betas really be done before the end of this month?

Quote:I'd just like to point out that the info I gave is mroe or less word for word what I was told by a friend when the markets were added to the game - I asked him how they worked, and he gave me a detailed and confident reply, so I've been using the info I posted here for my own market playing - and it did seem to work, so I never thought he was wrongThank you for saying it PT. I was reading this advice going, "wha...? That is ABSOLUTELY NOT how the auction market works in CoH/V!"

The filter used to/still does filter "god", which is often a typo of "good" - so telling someone they were good, or were doing a good job, or had come up with a good idea could seem insulting if you didn't add the extra "o"

Quote:Yeah, same here - I always think of PMs as being private from other forum users, not from the mods. Why is this a problem? I always assumed that was the case anyway...
I'm pretty sure they can read them, and search a list of them, espeically to check if closed beta info is being passed around

The closest bid wins the item - for example, everyone is bididng 200,000,000 Inf for an item, but one person is bidding 5 Inf.
If someone bids 10 Inf, they'll get the item ahead of those betting 200,000,000 million, because 5 is way closer to 10 than 200,000,000.
The reason why most people don't bid low is because most sellers set the price high - unless a player who gets a purple drop either doesn't care about making a profit, or is unaware of the value of the purple, it's very unlikely they'll set the price low.
That's what the last 5 sales window is for - it shows sellers and bidders the market worth of an item - if you see that an item is being bought for 200,000,000, then if you're a buyer, you'll bid that or higher for it, and if you're a seller, you'll set that as the price, or maybe even set it sligtly higher.
The last 5 sales window is a big factor in driving the constant price rises in WW/BM. -

I've maanged to avoid any obsessive kind of tells - usually, they just ask what chat program I use, and what chat name I use, and then invite me to chat before they even hear my polite refusal

Quote:The Chat Bug may have other ideas.Well, it looks like they fixed the problem that caused the rollback and are going to publish the new build. So we hopefully won't have to wait until Issue 16 to be rid of the bug.

Quote:It'd be kinda funny if they listed being merciless as one of the job requirements when they were hiring new GMsTrust me. I would rather be judged by a 'merciless NCSoft employee' over a 'holier than thou' player every day of the week.
The merciless NCSoft employee would have to have a clear, understandable definition of what constitutes farming in order to avoid claims of bias and to prevent inconsistent application of the rules.
Other players generally just run around practicing cranial-fundament insertion and screaming to hear the echo, with zero consistent understanding of what constitutes a farm.
Seriously. Bring on these merciless NCSoft employees, because that would force the publishing and deliniation of what exactly a farm is, what a farm isn't, what punishments can be handed out, and exactly when each punishment applies.
No more of this "Well, we know it when we see it" garbage.
