Welcome to the game and the forum, Loraen

I'd suggest you join the Defiant Events channel - it's the main chat channel for the server - there's activity there at almost every time, even very late at night
I think IO'll be around in a few hours, so you can also contact me at my global chat handle @Golden Girl if you want an intorduction tour

Quote:I'm not sure switching will be quite that easySo I probably would switch to Blue to get Accolades then switch back.

They might even make some sort of penalty, to make a second switch harder, as your former friends might not be that willing to welcome you back

We need a medieval time travel zone like Cimerora

Quote:I'm sure there'll be rebels of some kind - but they might not be goodooohhhh!!! ok, makes sense.... i thought praetoria also had a rebel band of "good" people lead by the alternate lord recluse?

For example, the Paretorian Clockwork King might still have been beaten up by an evil version of Blue Steel, but that wouldn't make him automatically a good guy - we might have missions where we have to decide which of two evil people to help, for example.
Also, as far as we know, there isn't an heroic version of Lord Recluse - he was killed by Statesman after, or just before, they drunk from the Well of the Furies, which seems to be the point when the Praetorian timeline starts to split off form our timeline - so in our history, Statesman chose to use his powers for good, and so Recluse survives as the the main evil force in the world, but in the Praetorian timeline, Statesman chooses to use his powers for evil, killing Recluse and taking over the world.
That brings up an interesting contrast - Statesman here chose to do the right thing, but that means there's more conflict in our world, but in the Praetorian Statesman chose to do the wrong thing, but that seems to have actually made his world more peaceful than ours. -
Quote:Some sort of Zig breakout in Brickstown would be good too - like recreate the CoV tutorial as an open mission - we have to fight Atachnos troops and their Flyer, plus generic Safeguard villains and normal Prisoners.I've been thinking the same thing
Maybe more dynamic zone events and such, like stopping vandalism or a turf war
The Steel Canyon fires and Skyway City raid could be expanded a bit, but keep the same idea behind them - same goes for the Paladin construction in Kings Row.
Lusca in independence Port could be worked into an open event, as she's not quite like the normal GMs, and already has a "sequence" attached to her, with having to defeat the tentacles first, then the head - making her aggressive and attacking the docks would be good.
Peregrine Island has a whole sialnd of GMs, along with a deserted research facility over-run with Rikti Monkeys, so there's already something there to use as a base for an open mission
In a similar way, the Banished Pantheon coming out at night on Talos Island could be made into an open mission with them trying to summon some spirit - or possibly make the Tsoo the focus of the open mission in Talos, and make the Pantheon ritual open mission be linked to Adamastor in Dark Astoria instead.
The Trolls damming the Red Rover in the Hollows is also a good base for an open mission, and the Circle of Thorns in Perez Park could be used for an open mission there, connected to all the people they're using in their rituals.
Terra Volta could have something to do with the reactor, and the fight between Jack and Eochai in Croatoa could be expanded into an open mission.
Boomtown could have the fighting between the Council and 5th Column as the base for an open mission, or something to do with Babbage - although the Paladin one in Kings Row might make it seem too similar.
Crey's Folly could have something based around Jurassik, and Eden could have somehting with the Devouring Earth too - maybe something linked to the Hive nextdoor.
Faultline could have something based on the Lost atatcking and kidnapping the construction workers there, or Arachnos and Longbow on the other side of the dam.
Founders' Falls could have something linked to Crey, as they should have an open mission too as they're a big group in the game.
Galaxy City could have something for Vahzilok, and Atlas Park could have a Hellion vs Skulls turf war open mission.
The Shadow Shards could have one or more open mission, one for each zone there, like Rularuu attacking an outpost, for example.
The Sewer network could have somehting involving Hydra - but the way the zone is laid out might make any sort of open mission hard to add, so maybe a random Hydra open event could spawn at sewer entrances around the city zones.
The RWZ already has a raid there, so it might not need an open mission - but Cimerora could have an attack on the town by Romulus' forces.
A random attack by Nemesis Mole Machines in any city zone would also be good, as Nemesis gets everywhere, and shouldn't be limited to one zone only

Quote:The alternative universe of Praetoria doesn't have hero or villain faction - it's ruled by a single faction, the Praetorians, lead by Tyrant, an evil version of Statesman.ok so here's a stupid question... going by the story i've read so far it seems to incorperate an alternate dimension where paragon city = villian territory and rogue islands = hero territory. as opose to any actually "switch" it's just a change of maps =/
is this the case or is it actually possible for me to walk the original paragon city as an arachnos soilder with all the heroes, as opose to an entirely villian populated paragon city like the back story seems to alude to...
In Praetoria, you'll be able to play missions and arcs that will let you decide to change sides, so you can enter Praetoria as a villain, but through your actions there you can become a hero, and then you'd have access to the normal Paragon City, but the normal Rogue Isles would be closed off to you. -
The major in-game problem with a list merge is the global chat handles - but I'm sure they could fix it the way they fixed the name clashes here on the forums, with an "NA" or "EU" tag added where it was needed.

Quote:There's a portal to Firebase Zulu on PI -it's in the Portal Corp building, and it's marked on your map.I've been playing since Oct 2004, but I have yet to find my way to the Shard. (OK, I admit I haven't tried really hard!) I see from this thread that some TF's take you there, but is there any other way to get there? Thanks.
From Firebase Zule you can access the Chantry, the Storm Palace, and the Cascade Archipelago - all of which are very big zones, but also very empty right now

Well, the new Halloween stuff is very promising, I think - they've added tech to the game that allows multiple and linked objectives in a zone with invasion style mob scaling - so this new tech could be used for non-event stuff, like open missions - they could even be using the Halloween event to test it for something in GR.

Quote:I think the CO engine is actually more powerful, but the way it's being used might make it seem weaker - like they're not optimising it.Its weird that this engine is so powerful... and yet Cryptic 2.0 is less powerful over all >.>
I wonder how that works out >.<
The core CoH dev team have had way longer to get to know their engine, and find out all the little tricks and tweaks that make it run much closer to its potential. -
It will be very similar to CoV, I think - that must have been a huge patch to download and test.
-
The devs have said the engine in more powerful than they realized - so that might give a bigger scope for the kind of upgrades they can do.Even updating some of the older mobs would be good - like compare the Cimerorans with the Outcasts, for example.
-
I wonder if the GR sneak peak at Hero Con will include antyhing about the graphics?

More HP for the generators and maybe a higher level for them too would make the mission easier.

None - I'm happy with my avatar

I like the vet rewards - some are useful for me, and some not so useful - but they're all free
