  1. Wasn't there a bug ages ago where a Brute became like gigantic? I'm sure there were screenshots of it posted here.

There are FOUR actual team based events in this game that I'm aware of: LRSF, STF, Hamidon and Rikti Ship Raid. Everything else has been soloed by someone.
But could they be soloed by everyone?

I'm sure someone has soloed the BTF and LGTF, but that doesn't mean that it's solo content - not every player or AT could do it.

Also, don't you think that calling them "zone events" does make it sound like some sort of team thing rather than a solo thing?

There's the tried-and-true Hami method, an LRSF/STF, or, if I'm really just not in the mood for teaming period, or on a low-population server where that's not as feasible, then I can at least turn to the markets. I'm not locked out of progression simply because I choose to play in a certain way. If the new system requires teaming either as one or multiple groups, and I am therefore locked out of it unless I want to participate in a raid, that's where the high level disappointment sets in.
I think a lot will depend on how they're viewing the endgame system - if they're looking at it as a long term thing for 50s to do, then they might now allow whatever drops or rewards we get to be sold at WW - they might be more like the current merits we have.
But if they go for HO style rewards, then that would mean people who didn't want to team would be able to just buy all the Incarnate stuff via WW.
But I think it's very unlikely that you'd be able to simply buy everything for the first 10 Incarnate levels via WW, without ever having to set foot in any of the new Incarante content.
  5. Siren's Call is where I got mine - there are lots of them there - and lots of Stalker-ish death too
If you need a hand, I can help you - safety in numbers is useful in the pitiless killing fields of CoH PvP

I hope so - and also replace all the CoT style demon mobs he has with him with the MM pet ones instead.
  7. I think this might be similar to stretching and shapeshifting on the hard/impossible to do list.
If you want somehting like that, you might just have to use the super tailor featue, and make one of your costume slots as little as possible.

Hence, I can say currently, without even knowing what it involves, that, for at least a few of them, I want to do the new end game content. That said, there are certain styles of play that I am more comfortable with, as well a certain styles that I fairly loathe.

I don't want to be confronted with content that I can't, say, run solo if that's what I'm in the mood for. One of the things I love about this game is the idea that I can play and progress in the manner I see fit. I have characters I've literally solo'ed to 50, and a few that have spent every minute of their lives together with a team. The thing is, both were able to progress in their own way.

The problem with a raid-like approach to endgame content is that I stop having that option. Now, like BillZ said above, if there are alternate paths that still allow these progressions, than there's no problem, and so far, that's the way things have been. A change to that which demands a certain style of play in order to progress is quite unwelcome.
The thing is, all the curent endgame stuff in the game is team based - it's simply way, way easier to design a challenge for a team than it is to design a solo based challenge.
Teaming means that the weaknesses of the ATs can be covered in a way that just isn't possible when you're solo.

I don't think all the Incarnate content will be team based - but I also don't think it'll be somehting you can completely solo eiter.

  13. The CoH endgame system is optional - just like all the systems in the game - if it's not something you want to do, or have any interest in, then you can skip it.

I don't think there was anything ever said about that offically.

I suspect the plan was to revamp Boomtown and use it to bring back the 5th Column. There were probably plans for 5 arcs involving the Council, Arachnos, and the 5th. Then for the anniversary, we were going to get Reichsman back, to cap it off.

However, what happened is that the devs got busy with other things, they dropped plans for the revamp, and merely brought back Reichsman in the TF/SF.

That's my guess as to what happened behind the scenes, and I believe the revamp of Boomtown has been entirely shelved.
Or just shifted around the schedule

    Quote:
Furthermore, my belief is that the devs aren't kidding when they say they have zero plans for revamps at this point.

For whatever reason, the devs seem to be soured on the notion of revamps. Maybe something happened during the Faultline revamp - a lot of bickering or whatever - and now they just don't want to do those any more.

First, they didn't say they have zero plans for revamps - they said they they'd rather concentrate on new zone, but that older zones would get looked at if they tied in with the new content.

Second, war Witch said at Pax that she'd love to go through all the old hazard zone sand make them better.
The devs don't hate revamps, and they haven't said they'll never do them - new zones have priority, that's all.

Ok, think of it like this - when you have a day off, and you need to go to the store and buy something, you do that, right? You don't spend every second of your free time with your freinds and family?
So think of doing a daytime ITF as like going to the store - there's something you want to get, so you spend a bit of your free time getting it.
ITFs are often donenin about an hour or a little more - sometimes 45 minutes if the team is very well balanced - and you can do it even faster if you're on a dedicated speed run team.

Saying they're "zone events" does make it sound kinda team based, but until they actually say how the events work, it's hard to say what we'll have to do.
So far, the only major endgame stuff we have in the game are the Hamidon and Mothership raids, plus the STF, ITF, BTF and LGTF.
All of the current zone events are also aimed more at teams if you're doing them at the level they're set at.
There's also the new Winter Lord mini-raid, which was sort of a zone events, but also sort on instanced raid too.

But as all the new Incarnate zone events are taking place in Praetoria, it's quite posisble that they willbe linked to the Praetorian lore, so disasters/raids/big battles mightn't be involved, as that would kinda go against Tyrant's peaceful ""utopia"

Not to mentioned the myriads of magic-themed dressed "super heroes". Now we'll have demon summoning characters running around everywhere too.
Well, not everywhere - we'll have to wait for GR before the MMs are dancing under the Atlas globe

    Quote:
As a long time comic book reader, with a modest collection of my own, this type of stuff is normally uncommon in the comic book hero world. I'm not saying it never happens, but the ratio is low. Most comic book heroes are aliens, mutants, or simply naturally endowed in some way (good with guns, bows, batarangs, etc.) Sure, sometimes superheroes fight magical beasts, or undead, or whatever, but what I'm getting at is that its very uncommon.

All I am saying is that I hope in future expansions we see some more true blue super hero stuff added, rather than magical powers, magical monsters, etc. If I wanted fantasy powers or to fight fantasy monsters, I'd go play any number of the myriad fantasy MMOs, a few of which do already have demon summoning classes.

Otherwise, the class looks cool, and I'm sure many people will enjoy playing it. It's just not my idea of a good addition to a super hero themed MMO. I very much enjoy the dual pistols class (very Punisher like), and I am looking forward to the graphics update, which I believe will breath new life into the dated graphics.
Well, of the four new power sets in GR, they've added Dual Pistols - a tech/natural based set - Demon Summoning - a magic based set - and Kinetic Melee and Eletric Control - both of which are pretty neutral regarding their source.
So I think that's an ok scale of new magic stuff being added to the game.

    Population?

    Welcome home

There's the start of a new endgame system coming in the Going Rogue expansion, so that might be something you want to take a look at

If you prepurchase it right now, you'll get instant access to the new duel pistols power set, and then access to the new demon summoning MM power set later in April.

If you're that keen to get it, then you should think about using some of you next available free time to go for the ITF during the daytime.

I could go in now and play but I bet no one is on.
There were quite a few people on before

I'm sure you'll get the chance to do a TF eventually - the Hess and Katie ones are both pretty quick - less than an hour for each of them.
