Quote:There could be a theme overlap problem there with First Ward - they've just made a brand new zone based on the idea of a ruined city destroyed by the DE - turning Eden into a brand new zone based on the idea of a ruined city destroyed by the DE might be too similar visually, even if the story content was a lot different.I was thinking Eden. It's pretty much nothing but the gateway to Hamidon and has the trial, otherwise it's a complete ghost town and I could see it becoming an Incarnate zone as an escalation of Hamidon and the Devouring Earth.
It's not really a problem to have normal city zones sharing a look, like Atlas Park and Steel Canyon, or Nova Praetorian and Imperial City, because that's the way a lot of cities really do look - but for somewhere that's become an unusual disaster area, sharing the same visual look as another unusual disaster area doesn't really work so well. -
Here's some guesswork about why the changes to the Statesman content are coming in I23.
The 7th and final part of SSA volume 1 will be in March, and with I22 looking like it'll be live in the February-March timeframe, it seems like that would be the best palce to make the Statesman changes - or even in an I22.5 a few weeks later, if they're having one.
But here's the guesswork part - volume 1 was focused on Statesman and the Freedom Phalanx, it's quite possible that volume 2, which starts in April, will focus on Recluse and Arachnos, with the Valentine's Day and DA content showing some big changes for Recluse, Scirroco, Ice Mistral and Ghost Widow, Red Widow and the Mu.
Now, 2 of the biggest bits of Statesman content, the STF and LRSF, also happen to involve Reclsue and Arachnos, so they could be delaying the changes to those 2 TFs because they'll feature situations that will reference events of volume 2 of the SSAs - like if I23 is out sometime in the summer, that'll means that we'll already be several episodes into volume 2.
So basically, the reason for the Statesman changes being delayed until I23 might be because they contain spoilers for volume 2 of the SSAs. -

Quote:He might think that a single NPC isn't as dangerous as a team of player VillainsWhen we killed or "killed" Ms. Liberty in the RSF he got angry too, but he was at least smart enough to bring his friends. He still lost. You would think he would have learned from that.

Quote:I that you're looking at if from slightly the wrong direction - it doesn't need detailed contact interaction that would only apply to some concepts - it'd be all about the missions - the maps, enemies, stories and the mechanics used to tell them.Given origins can mean anything, how do you safely define what is appropriate content?
For example, a 'Natural' hero could be an awesome ninja...or an alien warrior. Or a being who naturally has super powers without any need for enhancement. Or a Nature Elemental.
Tech? Straight up guy in a tech suit...or a sentient robot, an alchemist from another dimension who uses magi-tech. Science can come from a million and one sources, not all human. Magic is an even broader group, as is mutant.
For example, if a mid level tech contact says to a tech origin avatar that they've been following their career with interest in the media, and that they're gald to meet someone else who also believes in the power of technology to fight crime and make the city and the lives of its citizens better, then that's very open to the player to interpret how it relates to their tech avatar - he doesn't mention what kind of tech it is - just that the avatar makes use of technology as the basis for their powers and abilities.
As another example, finding 3 tecnological items on a lab map to assemble a device is the exact same situation as finding 3 arcane artifacts on an Oranbega map to create a ritual - but for a player who's decided to choose magic as the origin of their avatar, the second option builds on that choice by giving them content that supports it. -
Necroing these sorts of threads is ok though - it's fun to see how accurate some people have been

Quote:Certain big events have to be game wide, as the meta-story needs basic truths to build future content on.I have to say, just removing Statesman with no phasing tech is disappointing to me. I thought triggering his absence by playing the arc would be really stepping things up, big time. Now I'm all, "oh, that's all it is." Your character really is NOT changing the game world through actions at all.

Why is this one "no girls allowed", when our one just had a warning for any boys entering it?

So will you preview I23 here, or just I22.5?

Quote:Anyone can be changed for the better. He was evil to start with. He was friends with Cole when the two were international art thieves. Cole was only in it to find a cure for his mustard gas poisoning; when he found it (the Well) he went straight. Richter didn't. The idea that he can be redeemed is a complete joke.

That wouldn't work for any future content mentioning Statesman - the killer of Statesman has to be "official", so that there's one name that can always be used for the murderer - events in the neta-story need a basic truth that applies to everyone all across the game world.

I wonder if he might take on a more villainous name and costume now that he has all this power?
We seen a few bits of career progress from some NPCs, like Fusionette earning her cape and joining he Vanguard, and Apex also joining the Vanguard and getting a new outfit - but Darrin Wade is the first time we've actually seen the rise of new archvillain played out in the storyline - new AVs have always just appeared in the storyline in their finished form, but Darrin Wade's gone from being a small time contact to an Incarnate level supervillain, so I think it'll be very interesting to see if he changes his look and name at all. -

1 - I only play blue side
2 - I only have one avatar, and I'm a crapper, so I guess that "melee" is the playstyle I prefer
3 - MA/Regen
4 - All the zone are nice in their own way, but Atlas Park is the heart and soul of the game.
5 - Female - my digital superheroic self
6 - I don't RP, but if I ever end up on an RP team, I just go with the flow - it's pretty easy, I just react as if I was living in the CoH universe
7 - I'm on all the servers, to spread the love -
Quote:Villains really got the shaft I would say:
Betrayed by Wade, he gets the killing blow, he gets his powers, he escapes and mocks you.Quote:but Wade is in for an unpleasant surprise. One can only hope it happens in a very inopportune moment for him. You get the powers, you get the drawback, Mr. Darrin "Slave-to-the-Well" Wade.Quote:He isn't a genius, he just has access to behind-the-scenes information that nobody else in the game is given access to. Furthermore, villains aren't allowed to interfere with his plans at any point, even though at the end of his arc he tells you he wants to free Rularuu.Quote:Nothing but pain and fact i was still five steps behind Wade..again. GRRR! And I had a bad feeling going into that last fight Wade had an ace up his sleeve..
I hope he read the small print because it's going to bite him.Quote:Though thinking about it, the Gaunt Man was at least a credible villain. Darrin Wade, not so much.
