I actually have seen this. I take it as... they're trying to leave an opening there so that you can interrupt them. They're not necessarily expecting your "but he doesn't, because...", but they are leaving the statement open-ended so that you can throw your because in there. Provided you're not just being snarky about it and actually ARE trying to interact.
{edit}To answer that second question, the maniac that started the trend was probably someone who does textfighting. -

I've been playing with this for a little bit now and I would like to add that the macros can be made much simpler.
What I did with my 'bots is prefix their names with which group I wanted them to be in. Because of the way petcom_name works, it applies the command to any pet that matches the given criteria. For the purposes of this example, "PA" for the Primary Attack and "BG" for the BodyGuard group. The macros can then be condensed to:
Code:/macro Primary "petcom_name PA attack defensive" /macro Secondary "petcom_name BG follow defensive"
