  2. This one was super difficult. I kept going back and forth between having a kilt or not. Argh! There are a few things that I just wasn't happy with in the final design but there are a couple things that I think came out OK.

    I took some of the old artwork and translated it literally and some of it I got a little loosey-goosey with. For example: I didn't give him wings but I did give him a cape that on the inside looks like the Power Cosmic. Granted, in my mind the only thing in CoH to come close is the Shadow Shard so I took the colors from that and used a transparent cape to get the airy quality. The outer cape is black as space.

    I used a belt that hinted at the shape of a kilt (and covered the unfortunate crotch zipper for the pants - heh). I used several circle patterns in the belt and the helm pieces to convey stars. For the chest piece I didn't use a star pattern but used the Alpha aura to get the star across. I also felt like he looked like a futuristic/space gladiator so I used some roman pieces in the helmet and used futuristic looking chest armor. For the crescent on his helm I used the samurai pieces and used the ones that had an air/cloud like style to them. I finally used the winged boots to give a nod to the name Air-Walker.

    Speaking of which - the bugger is too tall to get a full screenshot in the costume creator so I went abroad and took some scenic shots.

    They clip with any sort of long cape too. It's frustrating. I've gone to not using animated tails with anything other than a short cape (and I don't like short capes). It's definitely a case of keeping the old and providing the new since the new just doesn't work in some situations.
  4. I say #1 *IF* you can't have two versions. I would caution taking away old hairs. I know people are still miffed with a couple hair styles that are long gone. Same with faces. I think, if possible, there should be Old then New as options for each piece in question (again especially the neck up pieces).

    If there's only black and white, no middle ground then I'd pick #1.

    EDIT

    Read your comment about the menu work. With that being noted - I'd say 1 but definitely have 2 for the big ticket changes like the shiny metal, thigh high boots, etc.

    Agreed. Guild Wars 2 is their next big money maker. It's much further along than any potential CoH 2 and CoH itself has no chance to ever match the burst of income that GW2 will have. Makes sense for NCSoft to focus on that. They also have Carbine Studios as their next game after GW2. I think there is a good chance CoH 2 will be happening and NCSoft will surely support it - but I think it's much further down the road and when/if that time comes I imagine NCSoft will have CoH 2 in their booth as much as GW2 was this year.

    This is my take on it but since we're sharing opinions and suppositions...

    Ah. Well there will be two of us on Virtue then. I didn't think you'd be using the armor if it didn't win. :P I'll have a different name and powers of course but definitely using the armor.

    Well I'm kind of glad, I think I'm going to use that costume I made. I just need to come up with a good name and power combo/AT. Haha.

  8. I went with what would someone look like if they combined a lich with Batman? Something damned scary! Batman used bats for his symbol of fear, so I went with this costume as having skulls/skeletons being the symbol of fear.

    I didn't use any true black colors in this costume. I used dark blue, gray blue and gray/white. I tried to mix a bit of modern with a bit of horror/magic and I fell in love with the Overguard pattern for this particular concept since it put three shades of color on each piece. Perfect for Shadeknight! I used Overguard not just for the shading quality but also because it seems it could have an almost modern skeletal pattern to it. The other pieces were used with that in mind as well - a skeletal resemblance.

    For the shield, I went with the Energy one as it can be viewed as magical looking and had it match the lich eye glow. However, I picked a lot of my overall costume colors to match the subtle tones of color in the Dark shield in case that was a preference.

    That would be so awesome. I had a Mab character based on his take on her at one point too. Here and in that other game. Love Butcher's books (waiting on the new one!).

    I'll probably buy it anyway. My toon Ragnarocker can finally do some air guitar. But come on already - give us an Axe guitar model. Thanks!
  13. Well.. I HOPE it's a Halloween booster set. I'd like to see one for major holidays but my favorite is Halloween. Would love to see new ghost, zombie, vampire, werewolf, skeleton, etc. bits and effects. Pumpkin attacks like the Firbolg have, juggling jackolanterns emote, pumpkin costume pieces (that follow the same set of options you have in the skull costume pieces), etc.

  15. Yay! Very exciting. Your critiques are actually things I had problems with and kept changing around. The hair color in particular. I did make his hair black at one point to give it contrast and tie in the cape a bit more and then I tried red, etc. I also tried the Cape of the Four Winds and a couple other options instead of the magic pattern. I think that if I do end up using this design I'll make those changes.

  18. My AE character will be Rogue due to being based on the AE system and that's represented on both sides equally. He'll either be a Controller, Dominator or Brute.

    Once Martial Arts or Broadsword gets ported to Brutes (if it ever does) then I'll be making a Brute and moving it to full Hero status. She's an old Russian superhero who used to be "evil" as in just serving the other super power.

    I have a druid like controller who will be going Vigilante - battling anyone on either side of the fence who harms nature. I have another nature toon who starts off as a Villain and will be Rogue for the same reasons.

    So mostly I have people going gray but one villain going blue.
  19. I gave it a try. I included a dark and a light background as it's just kinda hard to see all the details in either or.

    I wanted to include Greek and Egyptian elements so I used the Victory Laurel, some magic symbols and roman pieces. I really liked how the wings and lines of the roman pieces went with the Justice pattern. I had to use the roman piece with the lion - he does like his cats after all! I also wanted to include some classic old looking armor with modern higher tech armor to blend the two eras together so I threw in some Vanguard pieces. I tried to include an eye motif by using the brooch on the cloak. I wish we had a few more detailed pieces for that costume option!

    I waffled a lot on color choices for certain items and whatnot but overall I like the end result. May end up using it on a new character!

    Mu Aura?

    I was wondering - is that electric arcing effect on the Mu an aura or an actual shield/buff they have? I'd love to get my hands on that effect for a certain toon!
  24. I definitely LOVE the look and mission content/techniques in GR. I do hope they bring a lot of the textures over to CoH and CoV (including the sky dome perhaps for Paragon City?) and it would be ideal if some of the mission tech/content got ported over to older content. It's hard to allocate Dev time to revamp old content I would imagine but I'd love to see that style of mission writing and whatnot get ported over to both tutorials and the level 1-20 content in CoH and CoV. Then slowly over time do the other level ranges. Either by adding new content or revising old content (which is harder sometimes than just doing something from scratch).

    This is my dream. :P
  25. And I assume this probably isn't planned - I'd love to be able to keep a Praetorian in Praetoria for the entire life cycle of 1-50. So if we ever got zones from 20-30 along with their plans for 30-50, that'd be epic.

    Of course this would mean we need things like cape missions, costume slot missions and hopefully some form of salvage turn in for an extra costume slot. Probably some other stuff I'm not thinking of too. And yes I know about zombies, Primal Earth salvage turn ins, etc. so hopefully an alternate system with alternate salvage could be devised (tho I wouldn't care if it wasn't - just want the extra slot ).
