Part of the problem has always been the gaps. The little bits that the powersets and backgrounds don't tell you, but for common senses sake, must be in. (Examples include Recall Friend and it's usefullness or lack thereof on objects, the idea that there must be some kind of pain-relief involved in /regen, above and beyond dull pain, because otherwise no regenner would be able to do anything when even at half a health-bar, the problem of what health-bars represent in general (and the fact you can regen completely in a couple of minutes), the differences between "energy" "magical energy" "psionics" etc, and a half a hundred other little niggles.)
Again, as Hiki says, half our powers work in our specific world-views. Trying to blend them together has always been a matter of fudge, agreement and downright handwaving. A mechanics system is practically impossible. Social conventions may be doable. -
Currently having some very major issues with my em/ea brute. Put simply, end use is crippling. At level 11, I drop toggles practically every fight just from the end use alone. This, and I have endrecs in practically every power I use.
Does this start to get better anytime soon, or am I doomed to plod along doing one mob every minute?

But seriously, BS/regen is an uber combination. Broadsword does enough damage out of the box that you can get your regen slotted up well comparitively early. Although there are a couple of minor issues I disagree with Gecko's guide about (it is well worth slotting IH with an extra 3 heals, the extra can often tip the balance, and I like to use a little more accuracy in attacks than he does (with those slower, heavier attacks, you definitely want them to hit)) it's fairly good as far as the broadsword utility powers go.

All things considered, I think we've come to the final conclusion. It's part skill, part observation, part talent. -
Not sure whether it fits inthis list, but another gotcha with ninjitsu.
You can't really do without the 2 defense auras. So in the first 14 levels, you get: 1st Attack, hide, 2nd attack,1st defense, AS, 2nd defense, travel pre-req, placate, travel. What's missing from this list? Yup, the one power everyone reckons you should take, Build Up. So, it comes down to how do you wish to die: faceplant due to getting hit due to lack of defense, or faceplant due to getting hit because you can't kill the enemies as fast as you'd like? -

It's easier to do online than it is in larp or tabletop, because there are no voice or visual cues, which means all I need really to fool is the social cues. Most of my best friends are women, so I've seen it first-hand. -
Respectfully, I disagree. With the current aggro rules being what they are, you have to run a long way and wait a long time to get away from a mob of any size. Assuming you've placated someone, that's still one or two left to follow you. Once you AS and decloak, to me, you need to be able to survive at least long enough to make sure you have no more aggro, which simply running away doesn't help with. Thats why you need the defense.
Difference in playstyle, maybe. -
In that case, where do you put it? I run ninjitsu, and literally, by 14, I have 2 attacks, travel+preq, AS, Placate, my two defenses. None of those is nonessential. Even fitting it in later is annoying in the extreme (short of getting it at level 35).
This is the trouble with everyone sayign "Oh, suchandsuch is essential". There has to be a choice somewhere. -

Sara didn't so much make the choice as more or less was taught to be her hero ID (You think Aegis is her birth surname?
) as she was always taught that she had no right to a private life, as her life should revolve around her Duty. She's learned better, but still, she has no secret identity to speak of. Damia tried. Mostly because she wanted people to appreciate her the person, not Damia the broadsword-swinging regenerating combat wombat. That sort of slid into abeyance, as due to having to take action at GG once too often. Now she just doesn't bother to deny it.
Now, CoH does lend itself well enough to a very Aberrant view of superheroes (Hero as media star/celebrity as much as anything else) but its down to where you draw the balance point. The thing is, eiter extreme is perfectly valid, but the system makes it more difficult to do anything but either portray the hero side all the time, or to only have the hero aspect. For a game supposedly written by a bunch of roleplayers, they are, as we all know to our long-standing irritation, very lax about the tools needed to actually roleplay. -
Something I'm experimenting with, based on the fact you don't need to slot for damage as much in the early game, and based on the fact that I like having some defense, is runnign with the armours four slotted, 2endred/2 defense until I get at least DO's, maybe until SO's or stamina depending on how it goes. I haemorrage end like a mad thing with both toggles up and being in the thick of the fight.

Mostly based on Evilgeko's US I6 BS/Regen, this is my attempt to somehow get Damia back on stream (she won't get spec'd into this until she next levels, for inf/enc updating reasons, but I'm making the plan now.)
Questions:
1) Worth the healing slots in IH/Dull Pain or would I be better using those slots to ramp up the recharge rate on my attacks?
2) Overkill on end reduction for integration? I'd say that for broadsword, you need your toggles to be as end-light as you can get them, but thats just my opinion.
3) Energy Torrent. Worth it as an epic, or am I better dipping into another power pool once I've got Conserve Power and FA? (Anddon't get started on Laser-Beam Eyes) I pondered Dark, but it doesn't fit the character concept.
