I was on a RP mission with a Sonic blaster. Now IC, the sonic blaster's voice is rather... painful to hear.
I made a comment about not wanting to be the focus point of her voice (having had a wave going through me). Since then I tried to keep behind the blaster in a fight (o above her, in nova form) to keep out of her firing line. This was not easy as being the one leading the 'assault'.
So yes, I do keep such things in mind, if I can tacticly speaking.
With my lvl50 controler, I have taken out a lot of low lvl mobs. My favourite way is by fireball. Yet, if there are innocents in or near the group, I'll use an attack that will visually only affect the villains.
That said, I ussually ignore the groups around GG which isn't very heroic, but I'm just focused on ... what ever else I'm focused on at that time. -
[edit] Instead of executing my own half baked plan that looks good, I thought it best to get it out here for discussing. "Containing my enthusiasm" as Aisla would say
. So with that in mind, I bring you my idea. My idea and my thoughts about it, pro's con's I've been able to come up with.
[/edit]
We have the GGOOC channel, which is an Out Of Character channel where mostly RPers 'hang out'.
It's most likely to be the biggest collection of RPers in CoX.
Although that could be a misunderstanding cause by my limited view on CoX RP or just a view spawned by pride.
Now, there are things afoot in the RP community. New ideas are being put into execution.
In order to help these 'new ideas' get off the ground and let them be better known, the GGOOC could be used to reach out and make them known to a wide audience that is (generally) the target audience.
First, I would like to get a notion on what people think would be a good way to support these new ideas.
[edit]Or, indeed, if we should even try.
Pro: New 'means' get known sooner, their integration will go faster (for better or worse).
Con: It could be seen as favouritism or meddling.
[/edit]
Would a "Message of the Day" be the best course?
advantages:
* Everyone that logs onto the channel will get it, so everyone will (have the opportunity to) read it.
* The MotD will be tagged with a time and date when it was put up.
* It can only be changed by a Moderator
Disadvantages:
* The MotD can't be removed, only replaced with a blank line. (keeping the "this is the MotD of (time/date):" line)
* People stop reading the MotD if it remains the same or similar (in size) for a period of a few days: they've read it already. So if it is changed, it could easily go unnoticed. The time/date tag, I doubt anyone will really pay attention to it until they notice the message has been changed.
* It can only be changed by a Moderator
* It is limited in size to the normal chat limit (even a little less due to the command)
Would an "advertisement broadcast" be better?
Advantages:
* Would need no Moderator to set it up
* Could have more things advertised
Disadvantages:
* Would need repeating to get to (most of) the audience
* Repeating at intervals will be considered annoying
* Would ideally have to be cleared by the moderators
So, please, discuss!
Should GGOOC support other venues?
If so, what would be a good way to do so?
And lastly, what should and what shouldn't be 'promoted'
-
Perhaps the Moderators of the GGOOC channel could be asked to set a message of the day with such information?
Would be up to the (majority of) moderators to say yea or nea.
One problem I see is that you can't remove a MotD, just replace it with an empty one. -
Question, is the channel called "Fusion FM" or "FusionFM"?
When broadcasting over any given global channel there are 3 ways.
1) right klick the chatwindoe, and change the outgoing channel (and back again after you're done)
2) have that the global channel the default channel on the active tab in your chatwindow, and click the "active tab" button (the A on the far right of the lettered buttons)
2) use a command.
/send "global channel name" message
this way, the [message] will be broadcast over "global channel name". But if you have no spaces in the global channel name, it becomes a tad bit simpler...
/send globalchannelname message
No more need for the " ", I can hear people thinking "so what". yes, well... those people are probably english where just hitting that key will punch up that character.
In other parts of Europe (at the very least in the Netherlands) it's been made easy to type ëöï type letters, by hitting " followed by the E or so.
Long story short.... FusionFM is easier to type than "Fusion FM"... -

I've got 2 or 3 IC heroes that would listen in on the channel, and only one of them is Hikari-Hime

You'd do that to Hiki?
wait.. scratch that...
You'd do that to the rest out there? (unleash Hikari-Hime)
oh wait scratch that too.. of course you would... -

A small understatement there I feel... But, we're trying to sort it out!

Just chiming in about the forums
I myself am a minor forum junkie. I scour these forum (yes, only these forums) for threads and topics I'd find interesting.
I doubt I would check out any other forum, to be honest. I haven't really looked closely at the Cirque de la Lune forum, eventhough I'm a member.
Rebel bade a forum too, IIRC, I have yet to look at it...
And then there are those that never check the forums, be that the RP section or the Announcements.
Those would be left out, in the dark, mostly without them even knowing about it. -

Exactly right. The powerful melee I was referring to was a Power Thrust to the face, which is exactly how Zortel pwned me in the arena a few weeks back.

How are other RP SG coalitions working out? I'd like to hear about experiences.
[/ QUOTE ]
The only RP coalitions I'm in are OOC coalitions so we can use eachother's bases (I own 2 (RP) bases, and manage a 3rd (operational) base) -
Coalitions in CoH/CoV...
any SG can have upto 10 coalitions with other SGs.
also, all coalitions are only 2 way.
example:
SG A has a coalition with SG B and SG C.
this does not automatically mean that B and C have a coalition as well
in other words, up to 11 SGs can form an interlinking coalition if everyone of those SGs form a coalitoin with each of the other 10 SGs.
EDIT: rules...
at GG, there are some unwritten rules.
It boils down to this:
Have fun and allow others to have fun.
This means:
No Godmodding
Keep OOC down to a minimum
If you want to do something that affects an other character, ask their consent
(and probably some other things I can't come up with now, but still, it's a short list)
There are no 'enforcers' other than the community. Yes, there are some that 'encourage' those rules more than others (mostly the more experienced among us).
I think this is the general consencus on how 'offenders' are treated:
Friendly advice, friendly advice, friendly advice, friendly advice, stronger and clearer explinations, stronger and clearer explinations, /ignore
The GGOOC channel was created to move the OOC comments from Local and move them into 'the void'
Since then it's a channel for the banter of RPers in general.
We have members that don't even have CoH, and so can't join us at GG. But they are welcome none the less and it's been used to 'schedual' RP teams/events away from GG.
There are rules, which I'm not going to state here because it's just as much about common sense and respect as the GG rules.
The Moderators of GGOOC are a council of people with varying degrees of experience in both RP and moderatorship.
When any one of the Moderators sees a problem, he or she can (and I would think will) act on it. Minor offences ussually are solved by some words of advice, either through /tells or in the channe. With more serious 'problems' or just issues that wouldn't be so easily adressed the ones involved will be invited into an other Global Channel and then it will be discussed before the board of Moderators.
Luckily, the later hasn't been needed much.
(at any time, questions can be directed at the Mods of GGOOC, they're the ones with the star next to their name in the list)
So, to wrap it up, I would suggest a Global Channel for the Coalition (and perhaps beyond the coalition) so you can keep in touch even across the alts, and maybe a 'MOD' channel for those that become the Mods. -

If you have a base with no (game)functionality, pay the rent only when you're locked out (every 6 weeks or so, I believe)
If you have a base with (game)functionality, and you want to keep those active... I believe you have to pay every 2 weeks. Sadly, I have no memory of testing this (me and my SG use the telepads regularly) -
Manchaster in August?
hmmm, I'll see what I can do...
So... August...
Reb is LARPing all of August and FFM will be marooned on an island the entire month...
And me? I'll hopefully have a job by then, but that shouldn't stop me from being able to take a vacation (would increase my chance for affording it, actually)
(Without Lorne to 'cling' to, I'll need to find a new 'victim'... hmmm....) -
ok, here goes!
In no chronologic order:
group shots!
At the Reckless Temporal Engineer
Outside the hotel, posing for it
Outside the hotel, NOT posing for it
Outside the hotel, with me having moved for a better 'interaction' shot
Some portraits!
Aisla the cheerfull!
Gideon Didn't like to have his picture taken, but didn't object too much eitherJust as I pressed the button, he started to laugh and made it so that he was actually pleased with the outcome
Quilla
Me, still in The Netherlands, but on the way, so why not?
Shall I call these groups?
Guess who's under the hat
Guess again?
Where's the hat?
Ellie and J (who doesn't look so reckless right now, does he?)
and the scetch of Jess by Andrew Wildman -
Managed to get home safe and sound and in one piece
Will be doing the pictures in the mprning, and get a scan of my second (excelent!) Grav scan. -
Aye, I really had fun.
Nice to finally meet some of you guys and girls.
And the *special guest* did tast rather good.
And of course we can't disclaim who the *special guest* is. Well, I could... The special guest was indeed: Nah, I won't tell you! But well... -

Maybe it's an idea for a celebration 'intemesso eppisode' after the 10th?
BTW, how are you stacked up on questions? -

Highrise? Oh no, not more lifts. Scared of lifts.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure there'll be stairs... not sure which I'll take myself... that's probably dependant on the floor the room's on.
By current estimates, FFM and I will be arriving (at the hotel, I think) at about 13ish on Saturday.
So... who's up for lunch? -
I have "/l the Attomic.... Kitten!$$e noooo" at the age of 19, though crazy as hell, so that probably doesn't matter.
I also have WarAndPeace, also at the age of 19. No that old, not experienced... but also not around. (and likely to quit the Justice Squadron) -

Tiger missing
The travelling circus Cirque du Ponambre, which passed the Paragon area last week, have reported that one of their tigers has gone missing. Investigators are baffled how the tiger could have gone missing, no signs of a break out or in. There were no paw prints despite the heavy rainfall two night before the disappearance making the mud perfect for recovering prints.
The Cirque du Ponambre was performing with great success just outside Paragon between Christmas and New Years. Even despite the Carnival of Shadows and the Cirque de la Lune making a surprise appearance one night that shocked several of the audience.
One of the caretakers has mentioned that the Siberian Tiger in question Koshka started to act a little weird not long after they moved on again, and made mention he wouldnt be surprised if it turned out that either of the rivalling circuses had done something to their prized tiger.
Although Koshka is a somewhat domesticated tiger, she remains a tiger and there fore a dangerous animal. Experts say the chances are extremely slim, but should you see the tiger do not approach, instead call PPD.

The rebuilding continues
As the rebuilding of the city continues, people rarely stop to celebrate the restoration of old buildings. But not today. Today at 10am, the Arturian Library was reopened by none other than the Grav Mistress.
There was a small ceremony where the Mayor gave a speech about the importance of the rebuilding project and thanked people like Mrs Rolando of ZorTel Enterprises, Mr Drake of Drake Enterprises, Countess Crey of Crey Biotech and Mr Van Steenbergen of Janssen and Bakker Incorporated for their support.
Then it was time for the Grav Mistress to take the stage, and she did so surprising many fans by appearing not in her usual pink costume, but in a new crimson red and golden costume. Gravs speech was as she said with a smile short and sweet: I spent many hours studying in this very library before the war. It gives me great pleasure to be able to open her up to the world again. and with that she cut the ribbon to the sound of applause.
During these rare moments we of the press get to ask questions, The Grav Mistress commented that the new costume was designed and made by her good friend Eloise Smith of Ellies boutique. Unfortunately any further questions were brought to a sudden close when a group of robed men rounded a corner and drew their weapons.
This invasion by the Circle of Thorns was stopped short by the Grav Mistress herself and several of the onsite security personnel. Luckily no one was hurt in the altercation and the CoT were transported to the Zigursky Penitentiary.
Unfortunately, this was not the first time the CoT paid a visit to this library. Indeed, the entire reconstruction was delayed several months due to apparently random attacks by not only the CoT but also Skull vandalisms and Clockwork scavenging of the tools. Were it not due to the combined effort by many of this citys heroes patrolling the streets to make them safer the restoration might still be underway. But now these halls of learning are now finally open once again to the public.
