  1. I agree with Stasis.

It's your character, it's your story...

Just don't expect others to buy it in a RP environment off hand.

One tip: choose your target(s) carefully.
Area population: The denser the population, the more impact, the less likely people will go "ok, I can go with that"
Time: When did it happen? If it was before the Rikti invasion, landscape wise you'd have little problems, but anything large would have been on the news and have larger 'people' consequenses. After the invasion it could be 'just one of those things'
Location: Landscape damage, like a skyscraper... savest thing to do is pick a hazard zone. (But deform Rogues anyway you want for all I care )
  2. I was there last night, observing at first

But later, as the two RPers I fear RPing with (especially in a villains setting, and I know they'll take that as a complement ) left and some more observing and getting a bit bolder, I came out in the open and was noticed, which got the ball rolling and it was .... dare I say it? ... No, I don't...

    So, bye!

Another City of Hero wallpaper I found. Features Statesman, Maiden Justice, Sister Psyche, Back Alley Brawler and Ajax getting the [censored] kicked out of them by Recluse.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Isn't that a City of Villains wallpaper then?

edit: oops! sorry, you said you found it... not your call which it should be then, sorry

However, I find it very funny that sometimes you can spot immediately if a female char is a used by a male just by looking at the costume... No woman would have such a bad taste for clothings as some female characters in the game have!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, gender stereotypes. If that was true, why do we have Trinny and Susanah, and all those makeover shows dealing with womens bad style choices?

Some people have style, some don't, and said style can vary greatly between cultures and subcultures.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    And I'd like to add...
I've seen female toons that fit the "adolescent male teen player" stereotype, and had mature female players behind them.
I've also seen the "ZOMG! that MUST be a real female!" avatars running around played by such a 'adolescent male teen'...
  5. Great new feature? ... Yes!

Revolutionairy change to RP? ... No
  6. there's also SGs that already enforce uniforms, usually using the 3rd costume slot...

so, for RP, it makes no difference... unless it actually becomes an extra slot, then it's an other costume slot that can be used, and there for great for RP... but revolutionairy? Many make due with one.
  7. Hmmm, where's that thumbs up smiley...

    /e thumbsup
  8. Is this mixed gender?
or is it just for male characters?
Will there be seperate gender competitions?

(for some reason I can't explain, I have the notion this is mostly for men)

Thats because the details were changed about half way through the thread.

    Current details as follows:

    Password: Union

There's an edit time, so only forum admins can do that now..
  10. Most of my toons are female.

Once I said I was female in RL, once I said I'm male in RL, mostly I just don't answer.

I had a guy flirt with me over /tell the time I said I'm female. It was kind of fun until he started mentioning wanting to meet.

    Beyond that.. no problems.

I have found that when gaming with my tanker, I also take some of his RP qualities without actually choosing to... I become a little more protective over female toons then male ones...
  11. Personally, I run Paragon time as UK time.
If it's dark in the UK, it's dark in Paragon.
If it's light in the UK, it's light in Paragon.
No mater what the game puts on my screen. (Though I'm flexible enough to roll with it if an other decides to make notice...)
  12. I'll not be joining you, but I'd like to point out that Union is the unofficial RP server.

Advantage of being on Defiant: RPers are more likely to have slots free

Disadvantage of being on Defiant: Less chance of meeting other RPers or RP-SGs

now you have a level 50 your alts need never be poor or hungry again!

This isn't nesseseraly true... I know my lvl 50 is about broke... darned ICON costs!

(although a lvl 50 can rake in more inf per mob, so...)
  14. Gratz!

and I scare myself sometimes with the knowledge I still hold...
  15. Having regained my speech from the first time I've seen the finished work... (I've seen the sketches not long after FFM got them)

    That's really awesome.
I'm not too sure about the colouring, seeing as her base colour is white, and I don't think ambiant light would cause so total a colour saturation (particuarly the hair), plus the eyes should be green (But how were you to know, right? )

I'm really, really, really... no, I'm not tempted to ask you for one of mine... I'm asking!

Would you be willing to do one of my main: Jessica "Grav Mistress" van Steenbergen?

    And... while I'm at it...
Would you be willing to do one of both Miss Ellie and Grav Mistress?
(They're a happy RP couple, set to marry on Halloween)
  16. [ QUOTE ]
An olde one seems to be how the AVs can get defeated repeatedly and still be on top...

RC, I think, suggested it's just a title, and the current leader is a person from lower down who has stepped up. This works for things like Atta and Frostfire, but higher up makes less sense. Apart from continuous breaking out (see next point) or decoyage, I can't really see any solutions. >_>

Villains and criminals being on the streets constantly despite thousands of arrests daily. Also the Zig appearing to be a tardis.
    Solution(s)?:
The Zig IS a tardis, perhaps a conveyor belt, they have [censored] counsellors who do nothing to stop reoffense yet let em back out nearly instantly, overcrowded jails so they let em out regardless? I got nothin'...

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Zig not being secure enough to hold prisoners... also a point of interest.

You can easily call the Zig as secure as a cardboard box, giving ingame evidence... but then... why even bother sending people there? If you KNOW they'll be out the second they arrive... and all the "I do not kill, I arrest" heroes are the laughing stock of the city and "vigilanties" are the way forward...
"You stole a purse, prepare to die"
    or even:
    "No loitering, prepare to die"

I, for one, do NOT accept this.

    I see it as such:
The Zig is a fairly secure place.
The truely powerful can find a way out (allies? busting out?)
The weaker ones (orange overalls in Bricktown) slip through the cracks as the personel and security systems are more focussed on keeping the more powerful threats off the streets.

In addition I agree that there is the "A Frostfire not THE Frostfire" aproach.
Though I haven't used it IC, more that he's taken down because of his threat, but no direct evidence sticks to him, so he's out.

    What do you think?
  17. How to make sense of.....
The game world from an RP perspective.

Many times, people have tried to come up with ways to make sense of it all... some have failed, some have succeeded, mostly it's a "ok, that'll work" solution

Quilla thinks it's a good idea to have a sort of 'databank' for these sort of solutions, so here's an attempt at collecting them, and opening a discussion on those subjects that haven't been covered yet.
Those I've started with here are mostly centered on CoH and Paragon. Those with more experience on the wrong side ( ), please fill in that gap.

Recent example: Drones... specifically: Police Drones.
How do they work, how do we explain 'villains' standing infront of them without being zapped?

    Solution?
The drones don't actively scan for matches to their database. (requires a lot of CPU time, and a waste 99% of the time)
Instead they actively scan for suspicious behaviour (running, fighting, that sort of things) and then match with their database, does that sound logical?

Why is there even crime if they can just sweep the streets with these things?

    Answer:
Not yet fully discussed, but I remember reading* that the general population don't like the idea.

    * something from Cryptic, manual, on site or ingame, not sure where

An other point recently brought up was... character level. How does it factor in?

    Solution:
    indetermined...

    seemingly the consensus is:
It's Security Level, the level of trust the city places in you, not the strength you have in combat

Enhancements: Ignore, or fit to concept. (also sometimes interesting 'gifts')

Inspirations: Combat drugs, adrenaline boosts, acts of desperation, power overload, spells or other way you can think of that boosts your effectiveness for a short period and fits your character.... or just ignore them.

    Let's get this ball rolling!

I constantly get yelled at for having a tauntless tank, which she is because she is mute.

There are non verbal taunts, you know

Especially for a female... oh wait, that's mesmerize... oops!
  19. Ghost

    RP Builds

I do a little of both.

My tanker for example, has Jump Kick and Super Jump.
I've been planning to respec him into Air superiourity and Fly, but...

    2 reasons for doing so:
    a) The attack is better (I think/hear), Jump Kick's animation has caused bad guys to fall down, and get up in the time it takes me to get up and ready for the next move.
    b) I like the freedom of Fly

    3 reasons I haven't done so:
    a) I love SJ, I'd miss it if I respeced out of it
    b) Fly doesn't fit his concept (Hulkish... too bad we can't have a bat'leth in game )
    c) I've gotten to a point where JK isn't part of the main cycle anymore

But I've been known to bend the concept to get what I want. Prime example is Grav (Controler) who joins with a Kheldian

By the end of this week, I promise.

Again, my apologies for the delay - things have been busier than I expected, and I didn't want to rush through the selection of the winners.

    It's easy.

    October - Fire Guardian
    November - Fire Guardian
    December - Fire Guardian
    January - Fire Guardian
    February - Fire Guardian
    March - Fire Guardian
    April - Fire Guardian
    May - Fire Guardian

...The fast that I did my first creative bit on here in January is neither here nor there, IMHO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, November is easy... only 2 nominations and one of them is actually posted on the last of October, so... I'd be very surprised that I didn't win the November one
  21. We know you're a busy man, and this isn't a small task, lots of good nominations all round.
Some months must be rather hard to pick one.

Hope you're better or get well soon!
