Sure, it's not essential, but it's a pretty obvious sensible thing to do.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why should that start now -
Ammon has said something along the lines of: (yes, I'm too lazy to look it up and quote directly)
Some friends of Suzie (undefined, not player character) have coppied the petition for distributing (therefor easily NPCed by... anyone, really)
It's not my plot, it's out there, I take no ownership or responsibility over it. -
[ QUOTE ]
if i get permission from Ammon.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why wait for that?
It's freeform, there is no GM, there is no need for permission. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well.. I do kinda wish you'd let my ONE MISTAKE fade away, you old meanie person you!
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't worry, won't be long before he'll forget due to his age
Oh, and now I have the opportunity to clear the air without feeling bad...
*takes a deep breath*
Actually, I don't really have that much to say
I just thought it might be fun
To have a bit of a windbag of words
Which are assumed to be insulting
but really.. aren't...
I thought about doing so in Dutch
But this 'censorship' works fine too
Pffew... there, that's that out of the way.
Good points raised in the advice though.
Wish I had similar hints for my first GM attempt
I did get things right, though! (even if most was by accident) -

You see, Suzi merely printed out a few dozen copies of a petition form and handed some to friends. As yet, not one person has RP'd delivering such a list anywhere, and Suzi did not provide any instructions as to what to do with them that I can see in the letter.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then 'explain' this to me...
How did that petition reach the public, as a petition rather then a leaflet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Presumably via the friends? It's not exactly a wild suggestion to say that some of the friends might have gone out and asked people to sign it, who in turn might have offered to collect more signatures themselves.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then it should be one of those friends to post it.
If it's an NPC friend, it still falls under the same player's responsibility. -

It was posted as a petition, so naturally (although you seem to have trouble grasping that cause and effect thing) we replied to it as being an organized petition -
[ QUOTE ]
To say it negates the petition is god-modding.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, but he didn't say it. He just pointed out that a 'villain' signing a 'heroes for people' petition, which is controversial already thinks to poor sense of wording, would not be adventagious.
"Hey, did you hear that scoundrel that blew up the bank in Kings last week signed that petition? Man, that petition must be bad news"
Do you think pointing out a probable and logical point to be godmoding?
Well, considering your trackrecord, you probably meant something else then what you wrote down.
Also, he was right you know, you are being patronising in most of your 'explaining' posts... how Powerstone must hate you. -
Personally, I've stopped READING stories...
There are some reasons for this:
- time needed
- a good deal of the more resent stories I've read were of a type that doesn't appeal to me
- deminished interest
Not to mention the time and effort needed to comment on a story with any thing else then a 'aplause' or 'boo', I've not replied much to the stories I have read. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm one of the oldest, if not the oldest, so I naturally think youngsters are nieve and impetuous, because you all are.
.
Also, one of Ammon's stories (pretty sure it was him) features an older hero telling a younger one that anyone who doesn't read the petition the way WV intended it to be read is basically a fool, indicating that older heroes can also be nieve.
[/ QUOTE ]
But Birdy, that character is iirc over 300 years old, to him YOU would even be young and naive
Let alone the 26 year old Grav. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think it's funny, and maybe a bit insulting considering my heroes ages, that, all the NPC heroes, save maybe a few like myself and raven who doesn't actually sign or not sign any petitions, who ask people to sign their petitions are discribed as young male heroes, often alot younger than themselves.
I think its kinda funny because it suggests that only the young and naive inexperience heroes would believe in WV petition enough to go around trying to get people to sign it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Much like a (religious) cult, isn't it?
A few people swayed by the good intentions (and perhaps speach) to spread 'the word' -
Since this is an OOC thread, I feel the need to get something off my chest I didnt want to clutter the IC thread with, so.. here goes.

[/ QUOTE ]
(( Just curious that two of your character have the exact same opinion of Grav: that of a glory seeker. ))
-----------------
((
Since you ask, I'll suggest that perhaps because that's how you have played her? She (Grav) actively patronises the young hero in the post above, practically patting him on the head like a troublesome puppy, and saying "there there, poor silly boy, I'm so much smarter than you"
Apparently, like Powerstone, the young hero was blinded by the good intention to read the slander and anti-hero propaganda. Also, Grav has been around longer then the young man. Besides, she lectures at the university about various magical subjects for people both adapt and unknown with magic that includes those many years older then her.
That is what Powerstone reacted to, having overheard only the last parts of her little lecture, and seen the crushed look she put on the face of the young and idealistic hero, rather than positive encouragement. She agrandised herself, happily making the young hero feel lesser and stupid to make herself feel all glorious and self-important.
She shared her view, her insight in the matter. Shed be open for debate, but as it wasnt his petition there was no debate.
Powerstone probably has all of the same qualifications of heroism as Grav, (perhaps more, perhaps not perhaps less) but unlike her, he believes a hero's duty is to inspire and support people.
Powerstone absolutely hated her attitude. That's simply how he would react to the scene you described. He's rather old-school about 'noblesse oblige' - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noblesse_oblige
Ah, so Powerstone will encourage a hellion stealing a purse? Or will he point out what is wrong with stealing a purse?
Also, might I point out that in your story felt like a personal attack against my character + my response to your petition.
Namely these following portions did that:
[ QUOTE ]
Although the young hero saw the point the mage was making, his one-time adoration to Grav Mistress was tearing him away from the obvious conclusion.
Seeing this, Powerstone explained, "No, she's not selfish, Youngster. She is simply unwise.
.
The young man nodded, seeing the truth.
.
"Don't expect to get everyone to sign, youngster. But pay no heed to the thoughtless excuses some will make. You are doing the right thing"
[/ QUOTE ]
Might I ask if English is your first language?
Either way, you seem to have trouble gaining the effect you claim to go for.
See the following quote:

(( All OOC:
[ QUOTE ]
The only possible problem there is that one could infer the writer is suggesting that only the non super-powered are 'real' heroes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, it doesn't imply anything, it downright says that superpowered heroes aren't real heroes. You're going on about people reading between the lines, but you are adding emphasis after the fact which isn't there in the original. 'The city' cannot idolise anything, and 'the city' generally means the people within it. Not the government, or aspects of the governing structure, but everyone.
Not only that, but it's historically inaccurate and anyone who spends any time being a hero in Paragon City knows darn well that the 'idolisation' of heroes is a very recent phenomena, though it operates in cycles. Does the phrase "maybe you capes aren't so bad afterall," ring any bells?

Sometime yesterday, at The Garden Jewels in Port Oaks.
Jan dropped by as she said she would, and had an asortment of items to sell to Roselin, or rather 'the shop'.
They talked amicably about things, including leather clothing, being busy and what made them happy...
Jan got a fair deal for her items.. and a job too, as Roselin asked her about her other services.
They talked about possibilities and cost and so Jan got the job.
Both being content with the business that has been done. -

(( Just curious that two of your character have the exact same oppinion of Grav: that of a glory seeker. )) -
The Grav Mistress walked out of the MAGI offices of Atlas park when she was approached by a young hero, asking if she'd sign a petition.
Jessica smiled "What petition?"
The young hero passed Grav the explination pamflet "This one to praise the real heroes of the city"
Jessica smiled and read it, the smile slowly deminishing a little "I'm sorry, I can't sign this." and passed it back to the boy, probably in his mid teens.
The young hero stammered, looked highly surprised.. this was The Grav Mistress, one of the reasons he became a hero, reading her comics, seeing her cartoons... "But.. why not?"
Jessica smiled a smile she had come to wear when explaining something to a younger pupil, one that she thinks comforts and encourages to debate:
"As noble as it may sound, it would more likely be used as a 'see, it IS all the hero's fault' excuse. There are a great deal of people who blame us heroes for not being able to make Paragon a utopia they think they deserve.
Also, this petition doesn't take into account that most statues were put up through similar petitions. The people wanted those statues, do not blame heroes for them."
The young hero blinked, trying to give what his idol said a place in his mind, in the right context and pondered that.
Jessica smiled and placed a hand on the young hero's shoulder "it is a fine centiment, it's just not very thought through... and worded in a hero hating way. But if you'll excuse me, I have some unsung heroes to save from those that blame us for their troubles.."
The young hero nodded still a bit baffled that something with the right intentions could go wrong.
Jessica patted his shoulder and headed off, off to save the day like so many others. -
Last night...
Jessica "The Grav Mistress" Stoneberg was called and made her way to Founder's Fall hostpital to see if she could help with the curse put on Sophie "Ebon Tear" ... forgot the last name -
Hmmm, that second costume would be fairly easy to do... Might see what I can do about it, and I'm not an artist!
Some pointers:
I've found that the greeting area of Pocket D (before you get in the lift to the main area) has better lighting so one can get more detail on a screenshot.
I also like to crop my screenshots to mostly the character for these requests (well, mostly) so the focus is on the character. Though it sometimes is an idea to keep a length marker like a door or chair or other comperative object in view.
As has been said in an other thread:
The most clear pictures are gotten from the Tailor screen.
Only, to get them, you'll have to hit Print Screen, alt+Tab and start up Paint (or similar) to paste it.
Here, I like to do the back first, then paste the front over it, and over the selection area to the left. This way you get a front and back of the same costume in the same picture. -

Hmm.. Interesting question there.
Bridger, are entrants from mine and SG's competition elligable for Creative Genius?
[/ QUOTE ]
That is an interesting question, and one I hadn't considered.
My first reaction is that I don't see why not. I'll have a think about it, but unless you hear different from me, assume that they can be nominated.
[/ QUOTE ]
An interesting point to note... my own Creative Genius title was won for a comic that I've also entered in a contest held by NC Soft (a day in the life of.. I believe it was called?)
So, if not, my own title will (probably) have to be removed as well.
*hopes that doesn't happen* -

So people perform their tricks on him? -
Jolanda "The French Maid" St.Clair hasn't been seen for a while now...
Mostly because of two reasons:
1) I prefer playing Roselin at the moment
2) I'm a bit stuck on the bit of plot I've been cooking up.
To be continued! -
Last night...
Roselin Thorne arrived in PD to find a brroding Sarah(1) (Lady Patriot) and they chatted for a bit, before fetching a drink and chatted some more about I don't remeber subjects... Sarah was then jumped upon by Juniper (Wild Child?) and joined in the chatter before they were creeped up on by a guy in PJs (Forgot the name, sorry, Summoner or something)
To whome Juniper was refer as 'pervert' after being told about him by some one else whose name I've also forgotten... Rachel, perhaps.
When Shydow Flysh turned up, they chatted a bit more before Roselin excused herself to powder her nose (though unlike some, no powder was used) to allow Sarah some time to talk to him.
After Roselin returned, she sat at Isaac's bar and listened to conversations. Including Shydow's with Sarah telling her the not so good news about Sophie. Nick (Nightchild) came over and talked quietly with Roselin during that, and told Rose some interesting yet desturbing news.
Nick also commented that Roselin must not be so happy about seeing what she's seeing (Sarah and Shydow talking, still 'technically' together) for the umptyeth time. And though it's true, it not so much jealousy, more not liking to see Sarah's lack of... power (to decide, act, live) and in this case also more or less powerless with regards to her super strength and invunerability, or so it seemed. As Shydow was saying goodbye to Sarah and she to him, and Rose was talking with Nick and Rose let out an exclimation of... disbelief? despair? involving the name of a guy rumoured to have been born some 2007 years ago
People left (Nick after letting Sarah know they talked about her mostly), Dinah (Alraune) and Raven (Gaiasbane) arrived. Dinah was having a not so nice day... Conversation with Raven moved to her countess, whome Roselin was rather... hostile about her after hearing some 'interesting' 'history'.
After a little bit, Sarah mentioned that Rose didn't tell her what Rose and Nick had been saying... Rose mentioned that Sarah hadn't said a fair number of things... ouch!
They moved off for a private chat about that, to help Sarah Roselin set her an ultimatum to tell a certain somebody something... and worded it pretty harshly.
Some how conversation drifted over various subjects including parents and fashion.
And eventually they parted ways. -
-
Yesterday, Roselin set out to find the missing Sarah2... and stuck immidiate luck by just calling her.
It seemed she wasn't missing, just avoiding a certain person. Having an apartment to spare as well as several guest rooms, Roselin offered one to Sarah if she needed it. Sarah accepted, not feeling safe in the place she found.
When they met at Rose's place they had a drink and a chat before heading to the other apartment to allow Sarah to settle in... without clothes as she passed her costume to Roselin for fixing as it needed that badly. It was no bother for Sarah, as she was planning on staying in for some rest for a few days.
Roselin also provided some things to help pass the time before returning home to get her sewing kit out, and skipped Pocket D all together. -
Last night...
Rose went to PD, chatted with Justice Goldheart, having done up one of the orphenages Justice helps out with plants and flowers for her. Rose had a long day, trouble with some ganster customers and such...
They found out they have some things in common, Rose found out more about Justice's augemtations and occupation, and vice versa.
A red head interrupted their talk, asking if Roselin was Roselin... which of course she was and said so
The red head revealed herself to be Charity, an.. aquantance of Sarah2, and asked if Roselin had seen her recently. Roselin saw her last on Thursday, or so she said. Roselin was mildly friendly and a bit bitchy to Charity as Charity's and Sarah2's stories don't really match fully with each other.
After she left, Rose and Justice got back to chatting.
After a while Sarah1 came round as well as other people, and Roselin found herself diverting most of her attention to her. They talked about this and that, Sarah's new skirt, Sarah2 being in a fight and causing Sarah1 mild discomforts like dislocated bones and such.
And now my mind is lacking.
Nick came over and chatted, it got busy with others coming over too and Rose got silent, then moved off to sit in one of the booths, before long Sarah joined her and they cuddled.
They chatted about many things, observed others there before each heading their own way. -
Just out of curiousity, would people be interested in a similar challenge (setting + time limit) if there were no prizes?
Don't worryI'm not planning anything!
