I eagerly want to educate you because you seem the type to jump head first. Let the education commence!
Quote:Quality trumps quantity so absolutely.okay. [*]Question 1: Would you have accepted a longer period of time between this issue release and the last issue release in order for the developers to have added such things?
Quote:[*]Question 2: Would you have accepted only 1 trial and 1 task force in order to free up the resources to do such things?
Quote:[*]Question 3: Do you honestly believe that the developers already have all of that other stuff done, and are just sitting on costume parts, proliferated powers, and etc. items, and that all the developers have to do is just throw a simple switch in order to enable these things because all the work was already done and the developers are just jerks who won't let us have things when things are ready?[/LIST]My point is fairly simple. The incarnate content being released now is an extension of the incarnate work begun last year in the latter stages of the Going Rogue process. You know, the whole project Matt Miller had to press the pause switch on in order to get Going Rogue out to retail shelfs on time?
Quote:All of the work released now was already in development as of last year, BEFORE Going Rogue shipped.
Quote:All of the stuff you want was not in the development cycle. In addition, the developers were very, very, very explicit that any work not tied to the Going Rogue release and Matt Miller's Incarnate System was not going to enter production cycles until after Going Rogue was released.
Quote:In the past production cycles can easily last 8 to 12 months for existing content, assuming resources are available to work on that content. Production of new content can easily take 18months to 24 months, or in the case or power customization, 28 months to 32months. We don't know what Issue 21 will bring. We don't know what the developers not involved with the incarnate content have been working on. We don't know what the other production cycles are. -
It was discussed in beta, so your concerns are very real. The problem is that the LFG tool, in my opinion, should be useful for all types of players. But, it appears that there may be a stigma attached to using it, which causes a negative feedback loop. The more players quit, the more new players come into a situation unaware, and so it spirals out of control as you eloquently explained it.

Quote:I need about 11,000 more posts to even approach your post count, so give me a break princess. If only some of these so called "casual" players spent 1/5th the time actually playing the game as they do ranting about it here on the forums, they probably would have all the slots they can unlock already theirs by now.

Quote:Failure to understand why players didn't like the GDN, E.D., or even being locked into Patron pools appears to be showing up again as problems.So... If I get enough defense, I should be guaranteed that nothing in the game will ever challenge me? Is that Defense located on a button that says I WIN?
Defense shouldn't be invalidated completely, and more importantly not everyone build IO sets with defense in mind. -
Quote:You summed it up nicely.Yep, this is called raid content, folks. There's the learning stage where failure will be constant, there's the stage where you finally get the raid done, and then you sit back and farm rewards if you so choose.
Now, we can argue about whether or not this is a good thing (and this argument has been happening for months) but this is how the content works.
That is how raid content is designed, as you gear up the encounter becomes easier because it is designed with the gear in mind. But, there is a concern for how that newly acquired gear can be invalidated for new raid content to make room for the new gear. -
If the que works just like the market leaders' it is not based on average wait time, but rather on previous wait time for the last person in the que.

Quote:This issue wouldn't be so bad if it had new (free) costume pieces, some power proliferation, etc thrown in. But all the eggs were put in the Incarnate basket.Im europlayer and even had the chance to play this live. (Just one Lambda in test)
LFG tool never loads, its always 4 minutes waiting but never ends.
I almost can say this is the most overhyped Issue and one of the worst I remember. Why Anniversary Issues are the worst?
Positron can be proud of this grind... -
Slightly.
The key to remember is that repetition of successful runs is paramount now. If the two trials are not learned properly you probably can never complete them reasonably.
The learning curve IMVHO is steep but plateaus afterwords. -

Well, this has been known for a while that this is what Issue 20 brings. Now, if many didn't want to believe, then they have the access to issue 20 currently to see for themselves. -
Quote:Actually they said they want the content to be accessed by many players as possible that wanted to advance. Challenging sure, but not requiring a huge investment cost.Actually, the Developers have said that the Incarnate content would be significantly more difficult than any content we have ever seen in this game. The Incarnate Trials are not for the casual gamer (which is why I expect to do them rarely, if at all), nor are they for the unprepared.
You shouldn't need a specific build, but you will need to undertake some trial and error to see what works and what doesn't until a guide that applies to you is compiled. Until then, maybe you should look over the guides that already exist and see if your issues are already covered.
Challenge =/= time investment -
Quote:To answer your questoin, I subscribe to this MMORPG for the costume creation process, power combinations, and multiple alts I can roll at my finger tips. Story carries some weight as well as role play opportunities.Um I agree with Dark and BrandX. So you base the merits of an issue solely on being able to waste more time in the costume editor? or on doing yet another respec on your character?
We are getting two new 50+ Trials, two more Task Forces. opening up several new incarnate slots ..NOT one but as many as three or four from what I understand along with the new League sign up system. But it seems like from your post you are disappointed because we didn't get new opportunities to recolor powers or change their animations. To each his or her own but seriously I'd rather have new ways to PLAY the game than new ways to play Barbie with my character... and this from a woman who changed her look so often members of my own SG used to tease me about it.
Oh and as for THE MOST HYPED ISSUE.. were you around when everyone was desperately waiting for SUPER BASES to come on line? You want hype... for months when you logged on the first question anyone asked was "Did it go live yet?" The player base themselves created a sense of urgency like I really haven't seen since.
I'm sure all those things you are looking for are being developed and will wind up in game eventually.. Possible even I an issue 20.5 or as part of 21. Some will undoubtably be SOLD to us a Packs. -
Issue 20 offers only two new incarnate trials, new incarnate slots, 1.5 task forces below level 50 (Sorry Villains), a LFG queue, leagues and some Arachnos helos in the middle of Longbow bases (No I didn't make that up lol).
As of right now, no new costume pieces, no power proliferation, no power/epic pool/ custimization, etc.
I am curious to hear opinions as to why a NDA was required for any of this content, or is this secretive content being planned for issue 21? Thoughts? -
This is a very real concern as most new players will be mislead to think that it is some kind of free 2 play scheme when they figure out all the new costumes require purchasing boosters.

This popcorn is delicious, and very buttery. Now, if I only had some root beer to go with it....

I will be stocking up on my popcorn and butter for next week and will read the forums with glee *Evil stare*

Quote:All I am going to say is that it may change in the near future *Gemini 2099 gracefully bows out of this thread*.My original goal when I started this was to get all the slots. I did this with the first tier alphas but I'm seeing so many people just getting only what they need/minimum. This just shows the flexibility of the slotting. If you want in, you can get in but if you want all it going to take time. But right now, 1 slot gets you the access to the shards and the notices. What more do you need right now?

Grinding can be fun if you are attacking NPC's just for fun using your powers, which puts me in a zen like state. Lineage 2 was a game where the grind you had to approach with a zen like state of mind of just going with the flow and not worrying about XP. But when you had to grind for specific mats in Lineage 2, that is when the grind truly was noticeable. Despite XP being harder to come by in Lineage 2 than the drop rates, in my opinion, level cap is down the road type of reward when you reach it. If you need to craft an A grade armor to use for level 60-75 for example, you need to assemble it as soon as possible not when you reach level 76.

Quote:Even assuming that you casually team (eg just weekends a few hours) I still see it as unrealistic to obtain in a few months. The more important question to ask is what kind of end game is the Incarnate system leading to? I honestly thought that Alpha was a step in the right direction. But now with the new announced incarnate slots, I have my doubts."Casual" as in "limited playtime per week/day"? "Casual" as in "unable or unwilling to team"? "Casual" as in "cannot possibly guarantee they will be available for more than one hour at a stretch, ever"? "Casual" as in "will not do anything raid-like because raids are not 'casual' "?
-
Quote:Based on what we know, that isn't realistic. The best way I can explain it is that you can casually pick up Alpha slot all the way to very rare in a few months. But more than likely you can't pick up the other incarnate slots by playing casually in a few months. You could just run the two existing Trials a few times until the novelty wears off, and then go back to switching sides or playing TFs or whatever else you like (at any level!), converting the Shards into Threads, and waiting for more new Incarnate Content whenever they get around to releasing it.
Oh, wait. But then you'll be getting your Incarnate powers slower than people who enjoy playing the two Trials a lot, and that's simply unacceptable.
The gulf between Alpha and the rest of the slots in terms of time investment is huge. -
New players are really going to be confused in my opinion because the leveling experience of this game currently does not match this new end game experience. It is almost like pulling the rug out under their feet as soon as they step into the room...
-
1. Tertiary color selection - I like this idea too, as it would add a nice touch of variety to costume pieces
2. Asymetry is a big one that I would like to see more of.
3. Capes - This has been asked for a while, and I think it is time now to unleash capes for level 1's! -
What makes end game grind different from your trek to the level cap is that the experience can be approached from many ways while the end game grind is becoming more restrictive. It feels almost misleading to introduce a system that is radically different for end game compared to the leveling experience, which I believe will lead to a lot of frustration.
