my en/dev is very position and movement oriented. focus on ranged and AOE defense, let KB+caltrops+web nades+movement take care of melee. can also be made to work with fire, but no KB makes it a little less user friendly.

I ran it on a scrapper. its good. Elec wont turn you into an iron whip (resist sets in general wont do that), but its good, gets by and teams well. shockwave's fun.

Quote:YEAH! TELL IT TO EM!!!that wouldn't be needed if all the cry babies on this game wasn't always crying about farmers. they took the ae and the game went into the toilet...good job on ruining it for people that dont want to stand in atlas and look retarded
What are you saying? -
Quote:I dont think he was being serious, Disturbed's hard rock but I dont think it's categorized as metal by anyone. You want real metal?
Okay.
(for a claws/regen specifically)
"Wolverine Blues" by Entombed.
Or "Dawn of the Angry" by Morbid Angel
Or "Hammer Smashed Face" by Cannibal Corpse. (For those not familiar, Cannibal Corpse was the death metal band in Ace Ventura, this is the song they were playing, Jim Carrey himself picked the band)
"War Ensemble" by Slayer
"Pure Hatred" by Chimaira
Metal enough for ya?
I can hope.
Now Slayer on the other hand... I live in south florida, this place is so ****ified that so far this is the only band left where I think you can find a real mosh pit. There may be others, but not of bands I like.

Quote:the boss was white, -2. family bosses are a little weak, cept the mezzing ones but for a brute/scrapper with protection theyre weak too. I cant think of what FM gets early but I know that WP drives hard out of the gate.Hello all.
After playing heroes for a year, I finally decided to take a walk on the wild (i.e. red) side. My first serious villain is a FM/WP brute who is now at level 10.
Anyway, I was in Port Oakes last night and attacked a blue Family minion without realizing that his white-con Boss was nearby. The Boss enters the fight while I'm pounding the minion and I was able to polish off the Boss with ridiculous ease; far more easily than I could have with one of my scrappers or blasters.
Is this normal? Are all Brutes this powerful? Or is FM/WP considered an especially powerful combination? Conversely, is it possible that Family Bosses are a bit weak?
Even though my Brute doesn't have Super Strength, the feeling I get while playing him is, "Puny humans! The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets! Hulk smash!" It's a dramatic change from what I'm used to.
Which brings me back to my earlier question: Is this normal for Brutes?
Brutes are powerful in the early levels, powerful all the time but especially early on when fury is just about the only +dmg availiable.
yeah, theyre fun =) -
Quote:your FACE still amazes me with its views from be........ wait a minute..... ugh, nevermind.I honestly do not team very often (i have a really really slow computer), so Ninja Run was a great power for me! I was never in a hurry to get to place to place and Ninja Run is just the power that gives me more choices for powers, and a less "neccessity" for a travel power. But i will be honest I still do keep flight and ss (not sj or teleport because im just too lazy a person to use em) for concepts especially flight. Flight is one of the power that you can get a good view of the entire city, paragon city still amazes me with its views from above.
im gonna go use some listerine now. -

Sehll - 42 claw/elec
the bs/sd is still too low, actually playing might help him level... -
I use ninja run to actually hold my shield IN FRONT OF ME!
now if only it didnt drain so much end.
To the point though, ninja run is awesome if you have an extra move booster (IR/SS, LR, Quickness etc) and can be awesome without, although effort is required.
however for concept I still took teleport as well, the BotZ housing is nice too -
Quote:I plan to use lvl 23, posi isnt that hard and I get my bonuses from synapse to statesman.Case in point -- I have a level 50 Tanker who carefully frankenslotted slotted a bunch of 25 and 26 IOs as soon as he could. Some of them cost 50 Influence for the recipe and 5 influence for each piece of salvage (and more to craft, of course). That's stupidly cheap, much less than buying SOs. The end result enhancement in his attacks:
95% damage
95% recharge
45% accuracy
30% end reduction
Now that he's 50, I could spend money and time upgrading that frankenslotting (can't improve on the damage and recharge much, but could pump the acc and end red up). But he gets global accuracy bonuses already, and the 45% acc is usually enough for me, so all I'd be doing is improving the end reduction, admittedly significantly (and/or adding some small set bonuses if I partially-frankenslotted).
I get enough set bonuses elsewhere to meet my needs (notably, soft-capping the character's defenses) so there's no particular urgency to upgrade the attack slotting.
So I could improve my endurance consumption. But since my endurance issues are manageable, so far I haven't bothered to upgrade this level 50 character's slotting. Still using the level 25-26 trash I bought almost for free, and still performing at a very high level -- higher than is possible with SOs, and not far below the highest performance possible. -
My elec/wp/mu brute who has only one mu power (fences) and who's only sapper sloting is a deflated ego proc in RttC drains bosses by the time they reach half health. I dont get attacked afterwards unless I have to go to the bathroom. (auto CB isnt enough, so sad) (chain is CB-CI-CB-JL)
This leads me to believe that actually picking a more sap capable toon and sloting it for sapping will provide better results than people who claim you would drain a boss' green bar faster if you sloted for damage would have you believe.
Perhaps you are trying to sap with no -recovery powers? -
I had a sudden jolt upon reading your post.
is this... love? -
one more q
I remember hearing regen tissue and numi uniques see benefit from heal enhancers, does miricle see a similar benefit from end mod enhancements (physical perfection)? -

To top that off, I got the kill shot on Bison (inside J-Force joke). Tux thinks that we succeeded since we didn't have Turg.
Well...maybe we did.
Now that I've got all of the badges (except for the 60 month vet and longer badges), I can park my hero for a bit and play some of the others.
first thing I said when I saw invincible R -
Do these suffer from the rule of 5 like set bonuses?

Ill join up, itll be a good send off for me before I go out for a week.
Gearford - 50 (OMG OMG OGM!) Elec/WP brute. -
I agree that soul is your best bet.
Between the two you mention though, mace fo sho.
Mu immob stops knock up and knock back, so you loose mitigation from the foot stomp with that. iirc -

Thanks, guys, I'm all warm and fuzzy! =)
Well, I've had an unexpected encounter. My passed fiancee's mother is in town. She is a nice enough woman, but she hurts more deeply than any of us, and I fear for her in a way. She has invited me out to dinner... I dont know what time, hopefully like a 7-8ish thing, and hopefully she dosent have a lot to talk about. Please understand that if this was a friend, a family member or work I would say "[Censored] that nonsense, I'm playing video games!", but not this one, I dont think she would take it well.
I can hope though, and most likely this will be an early dinner (that family is wierd like that) but just in case, I wanted to make sure you didnt think I just forgot.
NVM, I have karate, so I cant go to dinner anyway, I will be able to make tonight. I should go to bed now, get my 4 hours for the day lol. -
Quote:i wonder how you live through that, too... dont magus auto-hit with one of their attacls? On multiple Mothership Raids in the RWZ, I have (with my MA/SR main) performed the "HOW ARE YOU STILL ALIVE?!?!?" routine ... where I gather up the aggro of FIVE Rikti Magus on myself, and hold that aggro, for minutes at a time (ie. longer than Elude lasts) while waiting for the "cavalry" to arrive to beat down everything I'm keeping occupied ... without faceplanting once.
Even did it twice in one raid one time.
After that, I didn't even have to announce in broadcast that I was available for teaming on raids. I'd zone into RWZ and within seconds I'd have an invite showing up on my window.
Then again, I've got a /SR build that is heavily invested in softcapping all of my positional defenses (full power NO GET HITSU is achieved by exemplar level 30 and up!) and which uses a combination of controls (stuns, knockdowns and a hold), recovery (aid self, 5-slot Miracle set) and defenses (all softcapped) to protect myself from incoming damage. So rather than being a One Trick Pony of "just defenses" I've got multiple solutions to situations where defense alone is not enough to keep me alive. Thus, I am by no means or stretch of the imagination "squishy" when it comes to fighting Level 54 Elite Bosses and Giant Monsters.
Conversely though, I would expect anyone who "skimps" on their defenses in favor of offensive DPS output to be relatively squishy versus Level 54s ... because if you're aren't softcapped (and can't stay at the softcap while getting debuffed), you're taking more incoming damage than you can "keep up with" ... which means you're going DOWN. I don't care how much damage buffing you've got on you, you are NOT going to be taking out a Rikti Magus (Level 54 Elite Boss) in 1-3 hits ... and it only takes about 3-4 of their attacks landing on you to make you faceplant. When you're fighting in a Mothership Raid, there is no "downtime" ... no time to rest ... no lack of targets ... and no shortage of hostile aggro. If you can't stay alive on your own, solo, you're not going to be "circling the rim" taking out the heavies at a distance from the center so as to keep the huge radius AoE mezz attacks away from the center (and all the squishies there).
So /SR against Level 54 doesn't have to be "squishy" ... but you'll need to build yours "right" in order to not be (squishy) against that kind of opposition. -
Quote:invincibility is +tohit, confusled with WP, tired.3% DEF and 3% Resistance to Psi from Impervium Armor is not really worth it IMO. My experience is it is much more survivable to not get hit at all vs. getting hit and resisting some of it. YMMV.
its 1.88 def, and 3 res from one piece, with a 6 piece 3 res. 2 defense and 6 res, plus you are getting recovery and max end, those end additions are what make me real happy, I rarely go for the 6 piece, but with 4 you get 2 def to psi, 3 res to psi, 2.5 recovery and 2 max end. its nothing to sneeze at for covering the hole for sure.
it depends on the primary some, if you dont need a lot of picks there you can grab a ton of pool defense. stealth or cj with maneuvers and weave + invincibility along with the DDR in tough hide (id include the DEF but its canceled by unyielding) or telefoe tele CJ SS with 4 sets of BotZ, get l/s defense with kin com.
now youve got your typed cept psy covered, with a good chunk of ranged and AOE, use them imp armor and aegis peices in the resist powers, and youre golden. -
Quote:i dunno, invul gets a little DDR through tough hide, and part of its "defense" is -to hit, plus the psi hole can be filled well enough by impervium armor.This.
As much as I love my /WP and /Regen and /INV toons, none of them compare to what I can do with my /SR toons.
filling toxic holes on elec or fire on the other hand... -
Quote:lets recap:Let's have a recap:
You said that resistance sets do not have a stat that resists -Res debuffs. Yes, they do, it's called resistance.
You said that defense sets don't have holes in their mitigation the way resistance sets do. They don't in the sense of being weak to one type of damage, but -Def, enemy +ToHit and autohit attacks effectively give them one.
You said that defense debuffs are small in number. They aren't, because every two-bit thug has them as a secondary effect of their attacks and individual powers that debuff for large amounts also exist.
You said that resistance sets don't get to solo pylons, "or in some other way be so rediculous that you actually have to set up your own events to have a challenge". I pointed out that resistance sets can and do solo pylons.
You said that resistance sets have less "potential" than defense ones. No, they don't. Your example doesn't prove anything; read Desmodos' post above to find out why.
You made some sarcastic comments, which aren't worth responding to.
At this point, you've shifted the goalposts so far that I'm no longer certain what your alleged problem with resistance sets is. As best as I can tell, it amounts to resistance sets not dominating the pylon results thread (which is a thread about offensive rather than defensive benchmarking). Feel free to explain how this equates to squishiness of resistance-based sets, because it doesn't.
defense gets defense debuff resistance and defense, and not all gun attacks lower defense like you say.
-def does little to builds that avoid 80% of it (10% i give for autohits) and resist 90% of what gets through.
**signifigant** defense debuffs are smaller in number. most defense debuffs come in the area of 1.5% which takes 3% mitigation away assuming you dont have DDR and dont dodge it, and only cimmys and warriors can stack it on fast enough to be meaningful without needing an x4 or bigger spawn. and +to hit hurts everyone when the game is balanced around the enemy missing half the time regardless of AT or powers.
I used a particular example to highlight a point, you found an exception to the rule deeper in a thread than I care to read (again, first mention of fire is on page two about dying) and are trying to stand on an exception as an answer to all issues plaguing all resist sets.
you claimed that resist + a lil defense is more survivable, I showed you this was a falicy with basic math, even ignoring that pool defense and set bonuses dont come with DDR.
you feel that I think resist sets should be "dominating pylon threads" and I havent stated anything like that, but more than 1 invul and a fire saying they got torn (in a thread about offensive rather than defensive benchmarking) would be nice to see before page 3.
You pointed me twords a post saying that 45% defense is substantially superior to 75% resistance and that a bunch of things both sets get access to (DPS, KD, Regen, Heals<regen and heals arent forms of mitigation btw>) make up the final picture.
so I ask you this; what's your end game here?
