    This is incorrect.

Pretty much all of this is feelings and opinions anyway.

It's not the buff/debuff values that contribute to the difference between defender and corruptor survivability. It's the modifiers on their actual personal survivability powers, and defenders have the same modifiers as tanks.

Even on a team, you want to be able to contribute damage to an AV fight and take out stragglers that come after you. There's no need to make sacrifices in other areas to get respectable single target damage either.

As for the original question 1, go with whichever you prefer. I would suggest recharge, personally. Defense buffs are easy to come by on teams.
  7. Times like today I'm glad I play on two servers.
  8. I forgot about this anyway, so everything's coming up Garent! I request that the thread be bumped next wednesday/thursday.

Yeah. Shout isn't nearly as bad as many think. It's only worse than the other two options from a damage perspective because scream buffs itself and shriek benefits more from procs.

...Though Storm Summoning/Cold Domination is really tempting. Or Storm Summoning/Storm Summoning.
  13. That's only if you're using an extremely high recharge build, and even then you're going to want to keep shout for the set bonuses.
  14. On dark take everything except black hole. On sonic take the three single target attacks, the stun, and howl. Other sonic powers may be useful depending on your playstyle.

It's because they're really paranoid of blast sets and strictly standardize them, but they don't worry too much about melee sets.

  18. The rule of thumb is that if you're going to be fire blast, ice blast, or kinetics, choose corruptor. Otherwise, defender is probably the better choice.

So, I've decided to go Emp/Sonic. Do I take all of the powers in each powerset? Or are there some that I should skip? I will take Resurrect for sure so I'll have 2 rezzes (I'm taking the Medicine pool as well). Absorb Pain? What do you think? Like it, love it, or hate it?

Also, since I'm planning out my character on MIDs, should I just go with Power Mastery (again) for my Epic Pool, or can someone suggest a better one?
There are plenty of powers in blast sets that are very skippable. I'd suggest not taking medicine. Absorb pain is a big Your Mileage May Vary. I'm personally against it. For epics, you should also consider soul mastery from the patron pools. It has a much shorter recharge than power build up.

    I suggest these powers.

  20. I like how you aren't focused on damage, but then you want to take the secondary that will give the greatest damage output :P. Anyway, sonic is best if you're looking for contributing the most damage on a full team of 8. And yes, leadership is worth it.

It's for everyone currently, except for warshades I believe.
  23. Generally speaking...

If you're using fire blast, ice blast, or kinetics, roll corruptor. Otherwise, do defender.

Between the two you're looking at there, I'd suggest the corruptor. You'll still be able to soft cap yourself, and your rain of fire will be much more powerful.

    Defender Advice

Ice blast is definitely the right choice. Fire blast will be a good choice for area damage too, but it's not out yet. You could also consider soul mastery, since it has power boost, which recharges in half the time that power build up does. Disadvantage is that you have to unlock patrons to get it.
