How would you slot a Dark\Dark\soul

I've been hammering away at this for a couple of days now and I keep going around and around in circles.

1. Question one, What should would slot a DD for, Recharge or defense, I see many people talking about slotting for defense, but it is really necessary for a Dark\dark with all of the -acc they get to drop on people.

2. Once freedom hits, life drain is supposed to (finally) be a worthwhile power for single target attacks, What are people's thoughts on what it should replace.

1. I refuse to give my DDD Hasten for thematic reasons, so I have tried to slot for recharge wherever practical. Still, there are plenty of places where you can slip in a little ranged defense or (my other favorite) status resistance.

2. I suppose DPS is always handy to have, but my DDD is 50 and does not solo. Managing a comprehensive suite of debuffs occupies most of his time. On my own build, I have "spare" powers that I could lose to take Life Drain, but I don't have the slots to make it dangerous.

Even on a team, you want to be able to contribute damage to an AV fight and take out stragglers that come after you. There's no need to make sacrifices in other areas to get respectable single target damage either.

As for the original question 1, go with whichever you prefer. I would suggest recharge, personally. Defense buffs are easy to come by on teams.

So I changed to Dark\dark\dark and spend some time working on a build. This the first one I have built from scratch and I would appreciate some critiquing\feedback

Also what alpha slot would you recommend.

I am coming from the no-Hasten school of thought, but I like to add a Recharge IO in the sixth slot of Twilight Grasp, Howling Twilight and Dark Pit.

Shadow Fall is one of the more endurance hungry toggles you can run. I would try to slip in at least one /Endurance IO in the place of a pure Defense or Resistance IO.

Oppressive Gloom.... My Warshade loves this power (Inky Aspect) but he doesn't have three big cone attacks to line up during every fight. It's hard for a DDD to use it to good effect. I think it's useful and amusing slotted with just the Stupefy Acc/Stun/Recharge and Knockback proc, but those 2 extra slots would be more useful elsewhere. Dark Pit and Howling Twilight can handle your stunning duties without forcing you into melee range.

If Life Drain is going to be a useful single-target damage power, I would give IT the 6-slotted Thunderstrike and let wimpy old Dark Blast have the 4-slotted Devastation.

Actually, Thunderstrike has a LOAD of damage and a lot of it is eaten by ED. I'm tempted to say that set is best when you only use five of them unless you are seriously trying to soft-cap ranged defense.

1. Wait til I21 launches because of this:

Quote:
Epic and Patron Power Pools adjustments
  • Tier 1 or 2 Powers are now available at level 35
  • Tier 3 or 4 Powers are now available at level 41
  • Tier 5 Powers are now available at level 44
2. Figure out a new build once this change has been incorporated into Mids.

OOoo, thanks Zombie Man, I hadn't heard that one. It can definitely open up the epic shields earlier.

I really like oppressive gloom. A lot of times, the character does NOT have to go after a foe to stun him. Critters like warwolves coming knocking, up close and personal, often enough. Stacking stuns can create a big AoE of mezzed foes.

HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.
