It's just you. Against properly-equipped players it's still "lolfly."

I don't think fly has gotten any more popular in PvP. Although it's always been popular for me, I have it on all my PvP toons, but my tanker.

I'm a new player so I know little about pvp. Is it balanced?
[/ QUOTE ]
PVP is awesome dude. Most people that do not like it now do not like it because they were used to it being one way, the devs release an update "i13" and completely changed it so that basically any powerset could pvp. If you really want to PvP though, I suggest you move on over to Freedom. Don't have an SG yet? Join mine, i'm making it all PvP anyways.
It is fast paced, Sirens Call has an okay pop these days but not what it used to be. The highest pvp zone RV is generally full of vills and heroes. If you are looking for 1`v 1s you can usually find that in a zone but there are no rules so that is based on the honor system, trur 1 v1 is in the arena but..most ppl just duel in zones.
Send me a tell @AresOwnsYou
You said u are new so i dont know if u know how to so...
type..
/t @AreOwnsYou, hey Ares

Hehehehe...This guy has got a good read on PvP, unlike the whiners in the "Can we fix PvP" thread. Hey Ares, I'd like to put a toon in your SG as well: global - @galactor.
IOing out your toon for pvp is expensive, BUT a player can PvP just fine with SOs and do quite well if you team with a buffer or two. Nothing equals out IO set disparities better than a good buff or two. Then, while teamed with a buffer, when you get a pvp IO drop or two you can sell em for big bucks and use the funds to fully IO out your pvp toon. Good luck and have fun. PvP is a blast...it's what I do with my toons mostly, I love it so much. -
I'm going to roll a stalker and move him heroside for RV. I'm going to go stalker hunting.
I'm also going to roll some doms and move them heroside...I love doms.
I'm going to move my rad/rad defender to the villainside but I won't PvP with him...not on freedom...I'll never pvp redside on freedom. I can't stand the players on that side, on that server.
I'm going to make a MM and move him heroside and play him in RV. And a brute. But no Corrs, I'd rather play a defender. -

Heres a question :
I primarily play empathy elec. When I join a team for PvP and we are duking it out - I generally deal little to no damage as I concentrate on buffing.
So when "we" defeat someone do I still get a chance at a PvP IO drop, if I didnt deal any damage to the defeated enemy ? Or is it a random check for everyone on team to see if i get something ?
- Do I have to deal a minimum level of damage to earn a chance ?
- Do I have to be the one to cause the actual defeat to get a chance ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes you can get a drop of a defeat credited to your team. My emp got a sheild wall that way...and I used the 100 million I sold it for to fund respeccing my scrapper woo hoo...now she PWNZ!!!! -
One time when I was in band camp...
Ahem, I mean.
One time, right after Crimera was released, I had my level 20ish Nrg/Dev blaster in Talos and I run up a radio mish. To my suprise, when I walked in the mish the critters where level 40 Roman Legionaires!!!! In a Talos Island Radio Mish!!!!
I logged off and tried the mish 3 days later...they were still there!!!! So I got a level 40 to SK me and we did the mish. Good XP.
I've never seen Roman's in Talos ever again.
That HAD to be a bug. I don't remember if it was a hostage or a glowie mish, I think it was a glowie...the mission text didn't have a name boss in the mission description, just so everyone knows. -

Copying the Freedom server's database?
Who plays on Freedom? Sheesh.
[/ QUOTE ]
There are many good players on Freedom, and they are as good as all four of the good players on your server. -
It could be possible:
that a rogue will earn both influence and infamy.
maybe the way your moral compass swings affects how much of each you get.
when your moral compass goes 'all the way' in one direction or another, then you can change sides. You keep the influence if you go hero, and keep the infamy if you go villain. And in order to 'switch' to hero/villain will cost you all of your other 'loot' to make the switch.
I don't think they are going to merge the markets.
I think they are going to open a grey market, or a bazaar, or an 'after market'. -

Dear Epic, The Reactor, yup yup and the other I13 lovers out there,
Tell me this, in fact tell all of us, how has Suppression, DR, Heal Decay, Mez Resistance, removal of -Max Run Speed and overpowered NPCs helped to make PvP viable and fun for all ATs?
Love,
Optical_Illusion
PS- GL LOL
[/ QUOTE ]
Because everyone operates under suppression, heal decay, mez resistance, and those [bleepin] OP'ed NPCS.
I have a blast. I play to win. I play to defeat the enemy. I don't play 'not to die'. That's why I've made over 200 million so far selling pvp IOs. WOO HOO!
Of course when I fought that other blaster in the arena without suppression and dr a la the 'the wienie rulez' I didn't have any fun. It was an obvious slanted fight tilted toward the other blaster, I didn't have a chance. And I ain't respeccing out of hover/fly just to play by 'the weinie rulez'.
The complainers are out to lunch. And they have to try to twist words and add meaning because of poor communication ability.
Just like the corruptor player that said "Once corruptors can become 'good' defenders will be useless'. Uh ok, sure; teams will LOOOOOOOOOVE trading 25% less blaster damage for 25% less buff power. Or, put another way - for 10% more damage than a defender, a team gets 25% less buff power. HAHAHAHAHAHA, out to lunch.
You don't like suppression and pine for the 'old days'. I like pvp the way it is, although it needs some tweaks, like teleport. And after the whiners have left to play warhammer and wow...I'll still be here, because I ain't leavin'. -
If a PvP'er were trully elite...they wouldn't whine and quit over pvp 2.0.
Whining is not an elite activity...anyone can do it.
Winners never quit, and quitters never win. -

How about, instead of there being a threshold where you become fatigued, simply allow endurance totals to become negative, and apply the 'fatigued' debuff whenever the current endurance total is less than 0? Cap this 'endurance debt' at -10 or -20 or something, visually represent it by a short red endurance bar overlaid over the (empty) normal bar which grows as you spend more endurance and shrinks as you recover closer to being positive, and allow end to recover at the normal rate but enforce the penalty until endurance becomes positive again. This has the same overall effect, but avoids the 'my end bar is now effectively smaller' perceptual issue (because you still have the same 100 end to play with before you hit the fatigued state).
(If you can't tell, I really like this idea)
[/ QUOTE ]
That's a nifty idea.
Also, to 'conserve' energy...they ought to let us 'throttle' the speed on travel powers to 'conserve energy'. That would rock as I've wanted a throttle on fly and hover since day one. -
Fantastic Idea. Very inventive. I love it.

[ QUOTE ]
Are you really trying to say that it was the movement powers that allowed people to get a lot of kills and not skill?
Really?
[/ QUOTE ]
I said nothing of the kind.
I said the way travel suppression 'used' to work was overpowered. The new travel suppression is much better.
As for skill: I said the FoTMs were not as good as they thought they were. They might have had skills, but there were plenty of crappy players that 'looked better' because they rolled an FoTM. There were other players that were good that didn't roll an FoTM that played around the lack of advantage of playing without an FoTM build.
Next time read what I wrote and stop trying to twist my words. -
There will be SGs (good), VGs (evil), and RGs (rogue).

So, if side switching is permanent, I see defenders being even more wussy when corrupters are available blue side. I'm thinking mainly rads and darks.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are out of your frakkin' mind
My rad/rad is no wussy, my rad/rad is like the John Dillinger gang: he's the 'best there is'. Having played rad/rad defenders for 100+ levels, defeating all the AVs, and soloing the Envoy of Shadows and Hopkinsl; I'll say this right now...rad/rad corruptor better at defending than a defender? BWAHAHAHAHAHA.
It's time for me to work on build #2: my solo build, I want to increase the number of AVs soloed. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yup, I know for a fact that things like unique roles, less glaring imbalances, and power familiarity were just getting in the way of it being good. So glad the devs removed all the tactics and strategy from the game so we have our improved fight club.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yawn, uh yeah, sure...you do not know what your talking about, and your sarcasm is weak. -
[ QUOTE ]
No. Well, at least the way YOU want it fixed.
I think the prob is that you didnt think it was awful before - but it was. I knew many hardcore pvpers that bounced from MMO to MMO strictly for the PvP aspect that would vouch for the fact that it was one of CoX's weakest links. It prolly still is but it is improved.
I say to the devs - keep working on it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly, I totally agree. The PvP now isn't perfect, but its in a far better state than the old toggle dropping/unresistable damage/noob FOTM builds always winning regardless of skill (yes, you FOTMs were NEVER as good as you thought you were). They still need to fix the teleport issue, but other than that, a few tweaks here and there, like the end drain timer on heat exhaustion and similar powers needs a major reduction in pvp (from 40s to 4s or maybe 10s at the most), -
[ QUOTE ]
I can see they are happy with it, but I wonder if they have notice the drop off rate of people going into PVP Zones now. There use to be so many people in RV or SC on any given night. Now your lucky if you really can find someone that is not there only for badges. Or Gold sellers farming pill boxes.
[/ QUOTE ]
I go into RV and its always busy. I-12 PvP, I'd go into RV and it was a ghost town.
I got into Siren's Call and there are always players there. I have no idea what you are talking about. -
[ QUOTE ]
I know alot of people don't really care for pvp so this is not for them. PvP was the real reason I use to love this game. No other game really did it for me. I like the movement and different was you could.
The way you have to think fast and be on the move the whole time. Now what I have come back to is a simple rule range pvp is god. I play melee class toons and I can see where range is now very op to the point that it was broken over classes.
The suppression has done no good for us. If you attack you are suppressed. Then there is the part of teleport( which I don't use) is broken in pvp. To me you tried to make pvp so that anyone could step in and play. Never mind the people that has played for years and learned to be good. You say you try and make it so that all are happy. Well alot of us PVPers are not so happy with what you have done.
I know lots of people will say to stop crying over change and to deal with it. I have read many post and have seen some real good thoughts on how to go about and fix pvp, but it does seem that only the people making the loudest noise are getting to the dev's. Now maybe that cause we(PVPERS) have set by and let things go. You nerf us we change and deal with it. So someone comes in pvp gets beat and then gets on here and crys about it and then other cry as well how hard pvp is. Well all I can say is that I wish you would put pvp back the way it was before I13.
[/ QUOTE ]
I disagree completely.
Travel powers in combat were OVERPOWERED before, they aren't UNDERPOWERED now. I-12 PvP was a joke as the players that got a lot of kills weren't all that good, they just thought they were. -
[ QUOTE ]
just post in here if you would like to see i12 pvp back into the game im curious to see how many people would cause i am one of them
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL
ROFLMAO
uh, NO
PvP is fine the way it is thank you very much.
I remember I-12: holds that lasted forever, unresistable noob, er, assassin strike, OPed Widows, and low talent players taking out skilled players with ease. Good riddance to I-12 PvP - it was terrible. Once all the ATs are available to both side...balance.
