Whoah whoah whoah! Wait just a minute here! I think we've uncovered a far greater issue than problems with Caltrops ... we can do cartwheels??!!!
-
I regularly team with thermal corruptors on my fire brute so my resistances are capped. Very often I will have up to 17 mobs pounding on me at once, sometimes up to +2, with multiple Lts. and Bosses in the mix. Never has my Fury bar been entirely full. I've never actually clicked it to see where it is numerically, but the following will illustrate the highest I've ever seen it.
===========================
==========================
The top one is pretty much the same length as the Fury bar on my screen, and the bottom one is as far as I've ever seen it get.
Now, I'm not complaining since it doesn't even have to be near that full to utterly slaughter things. I'm just saying there doesn't seem to be a practical or realistic situation you can be in that would cause it to be full, and even then only for a few seconds. It seems like you would need to have a dozen or so Bosses beating on you to get it full. Such a situation will never happen on accident and you'd need some major support to survive it. -
There's gotta be something going on with accuracy somewhere in the equation/code/whatever. I did the Spelunker badge mission the other night with my level 50 Tank who has a 50++ ACC SO in every attack. The mobs were like level 13. I missed about 8 times during the mission and I fired off maybe 20 attacks in all. I mean come on, does that make any sense? The thing is, accuracy isn't nearly that bad against things around my level. I dunno, I guess it could be bad luck. Maybe whatever caused that could be causing the "streakiness" that people keep complaining about?
Personally, I haven't noticed any problem with missing streaks. I mean they do happen and they are super annoying, but it doesn't seem like they happen often. Maybe it's all just a matter of perception.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, all of those misses may have been against mobs that were running. Any ETA on a fix for that bug? -

My favorite moment in CoV (think I was around level 10 at the time):
25% Health, very low Endurance, high Fury, only a single Inspiration left (Defense), spawn of 3 minions in front of me. Rest is recharge and I'm about to hit it when I think screw it, I'm going in. Luckily the first guy dropped a Heal Inspiration. Not sure if I wouldn't made it without it. Fury makes you do dumb things.

Dude, I do that ALL the frickin' time! THIS is why people like Brutes so much, not because they're "uber." -

Which of us was right?

The one not on the left.

If you are taunted in PvP then you are only allowed to attack the taunter. If you target someone else and attack, your target will be shifted to the taunter and your attacks will be directed at them.
It has no purpose in a duel other than to maybe psych-out your opponent. -

I went against getting Tough to cap S/L because I don't want to give up two of my powers, I love them all. I got rid of hover, because I hardly use it anymore. In it's place, I picked up Unstoppable, which is a completely useless PvE power to me, but is very nice in PvP. I don't expect to have much trouble in PvE with this build as I was still able to run Invincible missions solo before I respec'd. There are just certain mobs who were bad before that will be worse now.
Note: This is a concept heavy toon, that's why I have two travel powers. But he still kicks [censored]! Also, I built this in the planner after I did my respec, so some of the slotting is probably not in the same order as my live build. But, the powers are in the right order, and the number of slots are correct.

I wouldn't really call two cities that are a few hours from each other and four stores between them a tour.
And how about setting up a few computers and letting people play a few rounds with you? -
[ QUOTE ]
Why would you want anything other than level 50's in your SG then?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I wouldn't. But that's not the point. Just like the entire goal with any toon is to eventually get it to level 50, the goal of an SG is to get all members to level 50. If an SG started out low and eventually built itself up along the way and ends up with a lot of level 50s, why not reward them with a prestige bonus?
If you're worried about people only recruiting level 50s, trust me, it ain't gonna happen. You'd be hard pressed to find anywhere near 75 level 50s who aren't already in a SG. Heck, you'd be hard pressed to find ANY level 50 who isn't already in a SG.
Regardless of level 50 prestige bonus, it's pretty obvious that base financing is broke. It encourages people who aren't in a SG to only want to join one that has lots of members. It encourages people who are already a member of a small SG to quit if they get an offer from a larger SG. It encourages SG leaders to go on blind recruitment frenzies to get any and every toon they can to join up, rather than recruiting based on concept, similar interests, and compatible playstyles.
Seriously, it needs a LOT of "looking into." -
Right, didn't find out about that aggro cap until after I made that post. So, herding (at least by one tank) is officially dead. Maybe now they will leave us the Hell alone.
-
I did a respec on test and then jumped into a level 50 Rikti spawn in the Crash Site. Then I took my tank as is into the same spawn on live. The fight went pretty much exactly the same in both tests. Took out the Mentalists first, then the Lts. Everything else was dead in the interim as a result of some Footstomps and Energy Torrents. Hit half HP after only a few seconds in both fights at which point I popped Dull Pain. Had to eat about 6 or 7 of the medium sized greens in both fights. Popped Conserve Power at about the same time in both fights. Both fights took about the same amount of time. I don't really see a huge difference under ED. Of course, that comes at the price of dropping two of my nice-to-have powers to pick up Boxing and Tough. Sucks, but at least I can still build a viable Invuln Tank. My fire Tank, on the other hand, is in for a world of hurt.
The biggest problem I have is that I can no longer oneshot an even level Sapper with KoB+Rage. It leaves him with just a sliver of health. Most times it isn't a problem since even a Jab while he's down will take him out, but if you are unlucky and miss with that follow-up blow, there's a good chance he's gonna get some sapping in before you down him.
All-in-all, it sucks but it's livable for Invuln tanks. Invuln tanks can still herd certain mobs without a problem, and are probably the only ones left that can. So we'll probably end up getting more nerfs before it's all over and done with. -
I think the "it's not realistic for bow and arrows to be more accurate than energy attacks" should be left out of the argument. Because, if you want to keep things "realistic" then arrows should do way less damage than the other sets and should have an animation that cuts into the attack time. Hell, if you start talking "realistically" then you might as well say bow and arrow heroes should run out of arrows rather frequently and should go buy/craft more as needed.
So realistically speaking, arrows should be way less accurate, do way less damage, and have way worse attack rates than the other sets. I don't think anyone wants that, so let's keep the "realistic" discussion out of this. -
All you need to defeat pretty much any AV is 1 Tank (a scrapper will work but he needs a taunt, and he needs to be able to hold aggro on the mobs around the AV if there are any), 1 Healer, however many damage dealers you want, and about 4 Lucks. The Tank/Scrapper eats the Lucks, runs in and taunts the AV and any mobs around him and absorbs the alpha (which will not hit him), calls in the rest of the team when he's sure he has aggro under control, then everyone proceeds to pound away until the AV is dead, making sure the Healer stays out of range of the AV's AoEs.
The best way to do this is to make sure all of your damage dealers are blasters. That way, they can all stay out of the AV's AoE range and blast away, and the only person losing HP would be the Tank/Scrapper if the fight lasts longer than a minute. This will make the Healer's job a lot easier.
I've used this strategy twice on the Psi Clock King, three times on Anti-Matter, once on Bile, once on Neuron, and once on Adamaster.
Granted, the lucks aren't absolutely necessary for a Tank against all of these AVs since not all of their alphas will hurt a Tank that much. However, against someone like the Psi Clock King whose alpha can one-shot even a Tank, it works marvelously. -
Hey, what about my idea for a tag containing the current target?
-
Okay, I have one item to add to the wishlist (I'm sure I'll think of more when/if I get into this more): Can you add tags for the name and type of the current target? Then you could have an auto-sorting gallery for Monsters, Arch Villains, Elite Bosses, other heroes, etc. Granted you could manually add this as the title, but hey, more tags never hurt!
-
This is insanely awesome. You can now make a CoH Screenie Web gallery that will auto-sort itself. Just take your screenshot, upload it, and BAM, it's in the right place. I loves it!

Really great guide, Revolver. And that thing we aren't going to talk about ... works spectacularly! Especially with two tanks and two miners. Got me from 35 to 38 in about 10 hours all told. So yeah, expect mines to get the nerfbat real soon.

You people are really good at steering everything off topic and swollowing everyone in your flame war. Whether or not accolades are useful to any significant degree (which I believe they are not) is irrelevant, since none of the Badges in question are prerequisites for any Accolades.
The fact remains that you should never have spent a significant amount of time on something that was not fun just so you can get a BADGE, especially knowing it's a badge that doesn't even exist yet. The fact also remains that it's not worth the amount of time and resources it would take to retroactively assign badges to people in order to prevent them from doing a couple TFs over again.
I don't have a problem with people who feel the need to collect things, despite doing things that seem unreasonable. My problem is with the people who continue to whine even after it has been clearly stated that it's unfeasable. You are like little kids begging their dad to buy them a toy even after he has explained that he can't afford it. Selfish. -
Zookeeper is an Achievement badge, which in and of itself does nothing. It is a prerequisite for the Vanguard accolade, which doubles mez, holds, and knockback for 1 minute every 25 minutes. You're trying to tell me that is one of the best ways to stay alive in the late game? I find that really hard to believe.
You talk about me wanting to stop you from voicing your opinion (which was never my intention) while you yourself are telling me to stop voicing my own opinion. Hypocrisy.
And thanks for being a presumptuous troll and not directly responding to any of my points or questions with anything more than insults. I'm not even going to respond to the rest of your useless post. -
I have looked up Accolades, and all of them combined will probably effect your gameplay slightly moreso than a badge. That is, not much at all. Unless you wanna tell me that having 15% more HP will let you survive that fight that you couldn't before. Or that extra 10 endurance will let you fire off one last attack that allows you to kill that AV that you never could before. Or those powers that you can use once every 25 minutes will let you bump your difficulty up to Invincible, which was heretofore impossible. Or that having all of them will let you do anything you couldn't do before with any sort of greater success. If you feel like telling me that, then you better have an actual example to back it up.

What is the longest a single mission in a TF takes? Can't you just stretch a really long TF out across a week or so? Here's an idea, allow people to be a part of a TF, but also be able to do regular missions as well. So you get a team together for a TF, do a few missions for it, and people have to log for various reasons. But you want to stay on and team with some other people to do some regular missions. Currently you can't do that right? All you can do is solo. So why not have TF teams be totally separate from regular teams?

Yeah, I enjoyed the hell out of killing ten thousand monkeys.

Talk about missing the point. IF YOU DIDN'T ENJOY IT, YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE IT! FORGET THE BADGE!
I still want someone to tell my why you so badly want a badge, even if it requires you to do something not fun. -
[ QUOTE ]
You've missed the point entirely.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, the point some people are trying to make is that they have performed a certain task in the past that did not have a certain reward attached to it at the time, which now does have a reward attached to it. These people think they deserve the reward without performing the task over again, and think the developers of the game should accomodate them regardless of the cost or impracticality. My point is that the task you performed was either fun or it wasn't. If it wasn't fun, then you should never have been doing it in the first place since the reward that you were expecting to get someday in the future is hardly worth the amount of time the task requires. If it was fun, then most likely you weren't even concerned with getting the badge in the first place, rather with the experience itself. In which case, you would probably perform the task again anyway in the future, at which point you would get the badge as a nice bonus.
A BADGE IS NOT AN INCENTIVE TO DO SOMETHING! YOU SHOULD NEVER DO SOMETHING THAT ISN'T FUN JUST TO GET A BADGE!
[ QUOTE ]
I don't earn my badges for you. Not to impress you, not to be better than you, not to have something you don't. Same goes for every other player. My badges are not for you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then why exactly do you desire badges? And why are you upset that you will have to do some things over to get a badge? You were fine without the badge up until you realized that they would be giving the badge out in the future. So now, the only difference is that some people will have the badge and you will not, even though you have done the same task. But that shouldn't matter to you, since you don't care about such things.
Again, why do you desire badges? For the self-satisfaction of knowing you did a certain thing? Don't you have that already from actually doing the thing and having memories of it? Why does a little graphic with some text somehow enhance your satisfaction of the experience? Please, I would like to know these things. -
I don't get you people. If the only reason you are spending 12+ hours of your life doing something that you don't find entertaining in the least is to have a silly little icon show up in your toon info that might, on occasion, impress some noob, but that most people will not give a flip about, then you have greater problems than can be solved with datamining. I don't care what kind of honking great "badge" you get at the end of something, if it's not fun, don't do it. If it's fun, then you shouldn't mind doing it again. If you are saying "well it was fun the first time, but it would be boring to do again," then nah, it wasn't as fun as you say it was.
NOBODY CARES HOW MANY BADGES YOU HAVE AND YOU DON'T NEED A BADGE TO KNOW THAT YOU DID SOMETHING!!! Sheesh, you people whine about everything around here. -
Can you get us some images that aren't so heavily Photoshopped? I know some clueless graphic designer thinks it's his job to slap a Bevel/Emboss and Drop Shadow layer style onto everything that comes across his desk, but I would like to get a better indication of what these things look like in-game.
