Quote:He took FA so he could slot GSFC for the 1.25% typed Def. He has 32+ percent Def vs. most damage types, which when coupled with /WP regen and resists(notably S/L) will allow for exponentially greater survivability. Also, by taking CP and PP he was building for endurance sustainability.I haven't IOed one out yet but ClawsandEffect's build looks pretty good, though I personally wouldn't take Body Mastery since with Blinding Feint and a Kismet 6% to-hit IO you really won't need Focused Accuracy and with Stamina and Quick Recovery you aren't going to need Physical Perfection. I'd probably skip an ancillary pool and grab Super Speed or Super Jump and Typhoon's Edge.

You can use Combat Jumping + Hurdle for travel, or Hurdle + Nunja Run, if you have NR.Hi, I'm running a level locked scrapper through AE in order to get more mid-level recipes and enhancements in the system. I may end up going up to 40, but I'd like to stay at 35 for awhile.

Here's my current live build, which I'm still tinkering with. It's DM/, but maybe it'll give you some ideas.So...how do you soft cap defenses at level 27? I nee dto do that. Gonna be interesting ha d abuild all set for 50 but gonna lose alot mentoring down I think

Quote:I intend to try this as well since I solo/duo primarily and I want the Accolade. My DM/SD is capable of exemplaring down to 27 and keep set bonuses/softcap, so I'll use that build until I can't and for my second build I'll have to invest in a 20-26 frankenslot-build.You need more then just a level 50 AV killer... you need a level 20 AV killer. I'd actually take up the challenge myself on Shred Monkey who's built to exemplar very well... but it takes some planning and help to get the TFs started.
I'm curious, for those who''ve done it, did you create a second build with just frankenslotting? If so, any tips for power choices? I've not exemplared much, so I tend to overlook alot for such endeavors. -
BillZ was factoring in 90% Fury for Brutes. This is likely the discrepancy you're seeing as Mids default Fury is 0%.

I was inspired by your time to redo my challenge and lowered my time to 4:15
Congrats! 4:15 is better than my initial run, which required insp to live.
I'll take a look at your build and see what I can come up with. -
Apparently Umbral was posting while I was typing.

Here's another alternative, which is simpler:
- Take Tactics instead of FA and take Conserve Power instead of PP.
This would reduce your end consumption by .23 while allowing you to keep the GSFC proc in an active toggle for the added DPS. Also, you'd be able to keep the Purple Damage IOs in both GC and GD since you won't need any added Acc or the Kismet unique.
Conserve Power would be there in case your 2 End procs don't fire often enough and allow you to save MoG for more desperate situations. I didn't do this in the build below, but you could afford to remove one slot(recharge IO) from MoG(6.2 sec loss) and move it to Conserve Power(25.6 sec gain) or Build Up(1.2 sec gain) if you wanted to.

Quote:Your advice was spot on.When you're soloing a pylon you shouldn't have AD on auto anyways. DDR doesn't help much against pylons or rikti, so all AD is used for is KB protection and mes resist. You only need it single-stacked if you're doing it properly.
I found the best fodder (which gave me my awesome pylon solo time) to be Communication Officers. Using them, you can freely spam Soul Drain and they will summon portals every so often to refill those that die off.
Just my 2 cents on the matter. Also, as everyone already said, you don't need huge DDR unless you're going up against romans or rads, which is rare. I run about 85-92% double stacked with about a 15 second downtime and it's more than enough for tanking romans.
I turned off GC for the fight and used three 54 Comm Officers, though I did leave AD on auto since I didn't want to have to worry about it dropping. I got a time of 3:54 using FA with the GSFC proc this time. Sadly, when the Pylon died, I only had one Comm Officer and three Conscripts left, so I didn't have fully saturated AAO and SD for the last part of the fight. I think I could get a faster time if I use more Officers to begin with.
I'm gonna try a few more runs with more Officers to see how it averages out. Still, I am amazed at the difference. -
Here's what I would do:
- Lose FA entirely and take Conserve Power(Which you likely won't even need, but will fill gaps where you may, and prevent premature usage of MoG).
- Move slots to Build Up to slot the GSFC set.
- Move remaining slot to Weave to get 9% Acc set bonus.
- Slot Kismet in CJ by removing slot from MoG(losing only 6.2 seconds)
- Replace the Purple Dam in both GC and GD to get the Acc/Rech and Acc/Dam/Rech, respectively.
- You could eliminate PP if you chose then and take another power of your choice: Assault or Super Speed. I kept PP in for the build below.
- All attacks have 95%+ Acc vs. +4, no Def lost, and End issues are gone.
edit: I checked and if you remove PP and add in Assault, you only lose 0.8 DPA on GC and gain 4.2 DPA on GD by trading out the Purple Dam in each.

Just my 2 cents on the matter. Also, as everyone already said, you don't need huge DDR unless you're going up against romans or rads, which is rare. I run about 85-92% double stacked with about a 15 second downtime and it's more than enough for tanking romans.
Also, as far as AD/DDR goes, I wasn't overly worried about it against the pylon, but it not auto-firing when it's ready really sucks. -
Quote:I put the recharge requirements for the chain in my prior post:So Incinerate...GFS...Cremate is the best chain?
What type of Global Recharge do I need?
The percentiles are total recharge, so add your global recharge to the recharge enhancement you have in the power to get the total.
The build you posted does not have enough recharge in GFS to run the top chain, as it only has 188.75% total. Even switching the Mako's to Cremate and putting 5 CI (minus Dam/End) plus a Recharge IO in GFS only nets you 218.91% in GFS.
Without looking too deeply, I would make a guess that you'd need to invest in some Purple sets to boost your recharge high enough.
As far as the rest of the build, AD could really benefit from more Membranes to raise your DDR. Tough being just a mule for the Steadfast loses you a nice chunck of S/L resist which really helps with attacks that slip through. -
top chain is Incin(146%)>GFS(237%)>Cremate(88%) = ~190 DPS
Incin(72%)>GFS(133%)>Cremate(24%)>Firesword(0%) = ~180 DPS
Incin(144%)>Scorch(74%)>Cremate(89%)>Scorch = ~170 DPS
There are others, but these are the most used. The ~170 DPS chain is the best for EPS, and it also benefits from having the Hecatomb proc in Scorch, which would increase it's DPS.
Leveling, I ran the 170 DPS chain, and ended up going with the top chain because I found that I liked GFS's burst damage too much to part with it. -

Quote:I don't see that making a noticeable difference. 2.1 HP/sec isn't much for losing the damage proc and 95% Acc vs. +4 without SD. I am tempted to find a slot to add a fourth Membrane to AD which would get me 98.02% DDR in-game...The only suggestion I could give is to take out the proc from Smite and possible the To hit from PF and slot them into health to raise your regen but I'm not so sure a 50% increase in passive regeneration is going to give you a huge boost in survivability.
Quote:One thing I learn when using +1 and 2 to fuel SD is you don't when any Chief Mentalist so I would kill them before I would start on the pylon, I also killed Chief Mesmerist too.
Chief Mentalist have Dominate which would hit me a lot. Once I took out the Chief Mentalist it was a lot better. I still die some but not as much as I did.
Quote:Myself and at least one other I know of have had this problem. Every so often it's almost as if it gets stuck on recharge and won't fire off. Saying that it is still recharging although it is up. Thought it might of been lag or something like that, but I was having no other problems. Since it has happened a few problems and to others I don't think it was on my end of things.
edit: just got through a pylon run without insp and without dying! woo! About frigging time. 4:27 run this time. Slightly better timing on my part for clicking SD, I think. -
I got my DM/Shield to 50 and IO'd out. I am not terribly happy. In fact, I'm downright frustrated.
I have difficulty soloing a pylon and end up needing to pop a few greens to live through a run. In-game Defense shows at 45.49% Melee and Ranged, 45.80% AoE. DDR in-game shows 91.18%.
Mids shows the Defense correctly, but shows me having more DDR - 93.9%. The issue appears to be Battle Agility, as Mids shows it with a DDR of 24.7% and in-game shows it contributes 21.98%. I wonder why there is a discrepancy.
As far as the build goes, I haven't run it up against any Avs yet, but I don't think I'll be able to survive a no temps/no insp run. Any suggestions? Should I re-work the build to pad Defense more?
edit: Also, I have noticed that even though I have AD on auto-fire it routinely does not auto-fire as soon as it has recharged, thus expanding the time I have only 63.5% DDR. Anyone else having this issue?
Here is the actual build, which can Exemp to level 27 and remain soft-capped. I did one successful pylon run out of 7 attempts, but only by popping 4 greens. I got a time of 4:29, which works out to 270 DPS. This is without turning Focused Accuracy on.

Quote:I loved this post. It saved me from typing alot. When I play with my friends, I routinely tank on my Scrappers or Brutes. I can get all the survivability and aggro control I need out of a properly-built Scrapper. I am not getting my friends killed. An actual Tank would therefore be overkill, and would simply represent a big loss of damage output.
As for how the archetype should be played, I've been playing since beta. I think I can decide for myself how to play my favorite archetype based on my own experience without being swayed by bumper sticker slogans and well-intentioned rules of thumb. -
Quote:Living through anything is problematic with the combos you listed. /Elec is a good secondary, and has a lot of cool toys, but it's not the best choice for survivability against "just about anything".Ultimately I would like a scrapper that can tangle with just about anything and live through it...
I would recommend Claws/SR. You get the added recharge from /SR to help you attain the high recharge to get the superior ST DPS that Claws/ can output - ~200. You get the survivability of soft-capped positional defenses, which you can then back up by taking Aid Self for when shots do come through. Claws offers excellent utility in Shockwave if you start getting overwhelmed. Claws/ also has very good AoE damage in Spin + Shockwave, and Eviscerate if you can fit in in your build - /SR builds are tight since you need every power except Elude.
With this you'll be able to solo pylons and a lot of AVs. Good luck with whatever you choose. -
Quote:Firstly, I was correcting misinformation, which is especially important since the OP has been away from the game for so long and such things matter. If you state something that is incorrect, someone will likely correct you. The regulars on the Scrapper forum do this, frequently. Then why are you picking that nit?
In my experience, RttC's taunt is irrelevant. It mainly let's you slot some cool sets.Treat it as a pure heal power, if you need aggro control, get it elsewhere.
Or are you next going to argue that the to-hit debuff is the best thing since sliced bread, omg!
Secondly, you did this same thing to Werner in the "What is the Strongest Scrapper" thread, so I am done here. -
Quote:I never said that you would be able to... I did recommend /Invul, as you may recall.....ok, YOU try to hold aggro against a blaster and a PB with RttC. I'll be over here, laffin'.
You stated that /WP had "no aggro aura at all", which was incorrect. I was pointing out that it does, and even added in the caveat that it wasn't as good as Invul's taunt aura...
I think you are intentionally misconstruing people's posts. -
Quote:Quote:/wp is way easier and plenty tough, at the expense of no aggro aura at all.
I can see building a toon with poor ST damage in favor of AoE, so while poor Claws/ DPS is unlikely, it is possible. /WP does have a taunt aura in RttC, though it isn't as good as /Invuln's. -
