Having only one toon with a Super Group Base, I have not taken full advantage yet of what the SG Base can do for my toon. I am still very new to the "building" of bases and the advantages of adding additional portals or teleports to other zones.
My question is how to locate and purchase or add a new portal within my base that will allow me to travel to other zones via the portals. I was invited to a mish that was on the far end of Creys Folly, and the Lead said just use my SG Portal to get there. I only have about 5k in Prestige so far as I don't normally go SG Mode but may have to to earn more Prestige. I checked on paragonwiki and they just cover the basics. If I remember correctly, I think someone once said that I would have to cover all the "explore" badges for that particular zone in order to have the ability to TP to that zone, does that sound right?
As I was viewing more of paragonwiki I did find what they call a Basic Telepad for 15k Prestige and a Raid Telepad for 75k. Not sure of the difference though? Ha,..as I read more of paragonwiki it has what they call Becon Badges. One obtains the Beacon supergroup badge by visiting all that particulart zones exploration badge locations while in supergroup mode. Hmmmm. Okay then maybe this is it? -
Having worked pets with my level 50's MM bots/traps, my Ill/rad Controller Phantom Army and Phantasm and my level 50 dark/dark Corruptors Dark Servant, this is my first time working with Fire Imps with my level 36 fire/kin Controller. My first thought was they are like most pets and having to "re-spawn" them thinking they will disappear over a short period of time and like most pets have to be "re-spawned" again. Well, it seems this is not the case. They will continue to last as long as you can buff (heal) them and will travel with you pretty much anywhere you go. They do also seem to put out a small but good bit of damage, not having them fully slotted yet I really don't know how much damage they can do until I can max them out.
It does appear that they also have full "buff" abilities unlike some of my other pets. It is nice to give them Super Speed to watch them run around rampant...hehe. I do know you can drop heals in your MM pets slots to heal them but not sure they can be fully buffed like Imps? Unlike my ill/rad Controllers Dark Servant, it does seem they will follow you and not get stuck in the bathroom,..hehe. Of course this is only a short journey in my experience with Fire Imps. If anyone can add what to expect with these guys, maybe a good way to slot them for best results. I think you can slot them for leaping so they can jump up on walkways and tall crates and not get stuck as often.
Also one more note and this one might be best for Solutions and Ideas but I'll throw it in here for some quick discussion: Why do we have the ability to name some of our pets for our toons and not others? I wondered this for a game that is so big on people expressing their individuality. For example, my MM Battle Drone Bots are Larry, Curly and Moe with my Assault Bot as the T-1000 and my two Protector Bots as Doc Brown and Doc Roboto. This only makes sense as they are called "pets". The last dog I owned was named Spunky. It would have been weird to call him "dog". Though we did have a cat we called "cat"....lol. -
Quote:Oooohhh,..Wow,...that is a pleasant surprise. You'd think I would at least read some of those descriptions before I purchased those invention sets...lol. Yes, I do have Devastation for one of my powers. Based on what paragonwiki says, it has a 15% chance to hold your target. Very Nice! You say you have some IO sets slotted. If one of the sets you have is Devastation, check to see if you have the chance to hold proc. If you do, there is your answer. The Devastation: Chance to Hold proc uses the Tesla Cage effect, when it fires.

So the past few weeks when I've been playing my level 50 Enrgy/Enrgy Blaster and I've noticed a weird phenomenon when I sometimes hit foes with either my Power Burst, Explosive Blast or Power Push, not really sure which power it is as I always want to get a screen shot when it happens but I always miss it. Anyways, it appears that when one of these powers hits, I sometimes get the Tesla Cage as seen with an Electrical Blaster. Now I've read all my descriptions for my Primary Energy Set and not a one says it will give you a temporary Tesla Cage. The majority will say "Foe Knockback" as one effect. If I remember, the Tesla Cage is the "roundish" type electrical ball that enshrouds you like what some of the Freakshow have as a holding power.
Now the weird thing is when this Tesla Cage appears, it only last for a few seconds then disappears into thin air. Thus, I an unable to get a snap shot of it and also cannot pin-point which exact power it is. If I had my guess, I would say it was my Power Burst. I do have the majority of my powers slotted with Invention Set Enhancements but I really don't think that alone will give you a 2 second Tesla Cage. I really have no idea? My thinking is the dev's changed the effect for one of these powers but never updated it yet in the power description nor has paragonwiki. Can anyone out there back me up on this on what I saw? If it is a new effect, I like it but wish it would last a bit longer. Not necessary as long as the normal Electrical Blasters Tesla Cage but just long enough to throw in another knock-out punch power to take them out. -
Quote:Yes, and Dark Astoria made the perfect background with all that wonderful fog...hehe. If you also look closely, I added a slight reddish tint to his eye. If I did this in a "clear sky" environment, I would of had to been spot on with the illusion. As I was perusing several pictures on the web, I originally wanted to get the "actual" Cloverfield Monster but couldn't find one that would be more believable and at a better resolution. Looking at the Winter Lords with their carrot noses and plain shapes, it would be nice someday to get something like this waltzing around town kickin' cars over!..lol.Looking at the image and importing it into Photoshop it appears to be originally a different resolution than the rest of the image... it also appears as if a smoothing filter was applied to the "monster" (Gamera maybe?) but not to the rest of the image.
There's a considerable mismatch in pixel size of the monster and the building next to it.
Pretty nice blending job, but it looks an awful lot like a bit of photoshop compositing. The primary image is 800x600 @72dpi... the monster appears to be roughly double that resolution originally with a blur filter added.
I'm not a photoshop expert, but I do use it frequently in my real job in video production... I'm quite familiar with compositing methods. If it's real I'd be quite surprised. -
Quote:Ahem,...what can I say,...hehe. From the legend of Big Foot, to the Myth of the Lock Ness Monster. We bring you the Lizard creature from Dark Astoria, or you can just call him Lizzy for short..lol.Something just doesn't seem right here. I'm not accusing the OP of lying, but the graphics on that monster almost look too good for CoX.
Since I've never heard anything at all about this, I'm not sure what I can say. I'll remain skeptical unless I see more evidence. =/
I knew it wouldn't take you computer sleuths too long to figure this one out. Yes, I want a giant monster in DA. I had an original posting on having a no fog day then got this idea of adding a cloverfield type monster roaming about..hehe. Think about it, how scary would it be when you're flying minding your own business going to your mish in DA and thinking your about to run into a building only it is Lizzy, the Giant Turtle Monster!..hehe. Okay that was fun. Merry X-Mas everyone. This would have been good for April Fools Day maybe. -
Was flying around getting ready to leave DA as I was somewhat close to the exit and I just happened to turn around and to my surprise I saw something behind the buildings. I was able to take a quick snapshot before it disappeared into the night fog. Not sure what it was as I spent the next hour looking for it again but no luck in finding what the heck I saw. Based on the image, it kind of looks like half turtle and some kind of giant lizard. Not sure? Anyone else see this?

So, I've been noticing lately that sometimes when you zone either via Ouroboros, maybe to another zone and/or sign back in after being logged off, that your toon will materialize and be "hacking" and "coughing" up their lungs like they just walked out of a smokey bar,..lol. Not sure why this is the case. The funniest is when you get to Ouroboros and see everyone hacking around you, then you know somethings up..hehe. Anyone else notice this weird phenomenon?

Quote:Hmmmm,..I do have a Trenchcoat. I may have to play with that to make it work. Gosh, I wish they would make these costume parts work more with the available pieces we have.GLOVES:
Santa Gloves - does not work with Jackets, Robes, Trenchcoats torso styles. Found just below the "Enforcer" gloves.
BOOTS:
Santa Boots - does not work with some pants options.
HAT:
Stocking Cap - found under "Hats" head style, very top option.
Ear Muffs - found under "Detail 1" if you have Standard, Masks w/Hair, Full Masks options selected, above the various horns. -
Quote:Whew,...didn't think this would be that hard...lol. Anyways, I was able to get the "Santa Boots" and yes, they are called "Santa Boots". Now, ahem,..for the gloves,..not so easy. My toon currently does NOT have sleeves. No "Santa Gloves" only the basic "Arctic Gloves". I know I have the right badge for the gloves. Not too concerned about the hat now so anyone else that can throw in some input that would be great. As mentioned the Fuzzy hat is obtained through a Gift, or through purchasing.
In the Costume creator, under Head > Hats, it is called Stocking Cap, but there are 2 items called Stocking Cap. If you have the Winter event Stocking Cap it is at the very top of the list (when I look at a female body type), whereas the other Stocking Cap appears between Do-rag and Death Beard (and is a 'flat' knitted cap).
Also, the Furry Boots and Gloves are restricted by some costume parts (like no Furry Gloves with Sleeved Jackets, no boots with 'pants'), and are called Santa Gloves and Santa Boots.
Edit to add: For completeness, the Ear Muffs are available under the Head > Standard and Head > Masks with Hair: Detail 1 (just under Headband Wings), and Head > Full Masks: Detail 2 (just under Headband Wings). -
Nope. Nada. Nothing like that is listed. The only thing close to a hat is a small knit cap like thingy. Nothing for the gloves either. So, do I need to possibly do another costume mish in order to get these added to my inventory?
-
Quick question: I just obtained the Crystallized and the Frosty Badges from the Father Time Mish in Pocket D. With these, you can get the Fuzzy hat and Fuzzy gloves as a new costume piece. I'm currently at the tailor now and it seems it hasn't been added into my inventory. Do I need to do a "new" tailor mish" in order to unlock these new costume pieces? My toon is currently at level 35 and I have 2 costume slots open so far. Thanks for your help and Merry X-Mas!

As silly as it sounds, I've always wondered what Dark Astoria might look like without its dark fog. So, maybe designate one day or even a half day a week as a "no fog" day for Dark Astoria. Looking at the map on paragonwiki, it kind of looks like Brickstown but has a huge cemetery/park in the upper NE corner. To keep it a surprise, the day will be random so no one will know when it will be clear skies. To make this event even more special, when the fog lifts, a giant monster will appear waltzing through the city. Those who kill it will get tons of goodies and a nice badge. These GM's will be random so you will have more chances at more badges for different GM's. Once it does happen then Broadcast like crazy to announce the big event...lol. It would be reminiscent of the Broadcasting Hami raids from the past when all would drop what they where doing and come running in to kill the GM. Maybe once in a rare while, the dev's could throw in a unique GM like maybe the Cloverfield Monster...hehe

This has happened to me several times when I am going from zones, Villain side, with my Corruptor and her Dark Servant and/or Arachnobot Disruptor Pet. I haven't noticed yet on the Hero side but it may be prevalent there also. Anyways, I would zone in Grandville for example while having my pet active in a previous zone. Once I would zone, my pet display window whould show no pets but my pet would still be there. The name above my pet would read "Dark Servant" without my toons name below it and read just as "Dark Servant". Then, a few moments later it would re-set and read correctly.
For my Arachnobot Disruptor, the same thing would happen when zoning. Now the real weird thing is if I activated my Arachnobot Disruptor Pet while in a mish, then completed the mish and then zoned again, it would appear my Pet would "re-set" again as if I just reactivated it again. I know this as the normal recharge time for my Disruptor Pet is just under 15 minutes with a active running time of 4 minutes. Normally, I would have to wait again for it to recharge but it would seem that it would already be recharged with my pet still active. Keep in mind, I was given no Speed Boost prior to this happening.
These are just a few quirky issues when zoning with pets. Not sure if anyone else has noticed this before. It really is not that big of an issue but I just thought I would bring it to light as it was on my mind. -
Been working on my first Fire/Kin Controller. Currently at level 30. I did pick-up Siphon Speed for me and Inertial Reduction for myself and teammates. The big question I have is about Speed Boost. From what I read about kins, this is a widely requested power from fellow "non-kin" teammates to speed up their attack rates during battle. Of course there are some who don't want SB but a large major do like SB.
Now comes the thing that makes my head hurt when I think about it. If Inertial Reduction can work for BOTH you and your teammates, and Siphon Speed works for you and is similar to Speed Boost in its effects, why then not make SB take the place of Siphon Speed and work for BOTH you and your teammates? If the argument comes up such as "well SB is a per teammate power" meaning you would click on those who would want it versus giving a power to everyone like Inertial Reduction. Hmmmm, okay. So what you are saying is by making Inertial Reduction a "forced" upon power for those standing next to you versus picking and choosing those who might want SB, is different? What if there are those who don't want IR, do I need to tell them to stand outside the power effect zone when applied?
So, with that being said, is there something I am missing here that would make Speed Boost and Siphon Speed be two different powers yet they do practically the same thing? Is it the fact that SB would ruffle more people's feathers because there are more who don't want it, thus it is a "click per toon" type power? Are the effects of SB that much more chaotic to those who cannot handle it versus the effects of Inertial Reduction? Ouch,..my head is starting to hurt again...hehe.
For those of you versed in this debate, please feed me with all your wonderful input on this as I really need to know BEFORE I decide to pick-up Speed Boost. And yes, I will eventually pick it up because I know how much it can help in team play but for a big solo'er like me, I have been holding off on it so again, this would also feed the argument about picking SB for people who solo more than team play. -
Quote:Yeah, after sleeping on it, I knew it was a silly idea to begin with. I was not aware you could disable in game music. Is this an option found within the games options menu?Frankly, none of that is necessary. If you want to listen to something else, run Winamp or MS Media Player in the background. You won't be able to access the play and volume controls unless you alt-tab to out of the game (or run it in a window, blech) but you can listen to whatever you like. Streaming music from one player to another would open up all kinds of problems, none of which are worth it to be able to listen to the same song as a team mate. Aside from the massive bandwidth issues, there's the fact that the record industry tends to fire lawsuit nukes at anything that even resembles a P2P app.
And personally, I'm not sure what the point of having a shared music queue would be exactly. Of course, I utterly fail to see the point of MySpace or Facebook, so I freely admit that where social networking is concerned, I just don't "get it" at all. -
I know this has been brought up in past Forums and Threads. Heck, I think I may brought it up long ago but forgot about it..hehe. So, I just wanted to revisit this idea again and see the pros and cons come out of the closet again.
First, this is how this would work:
You download songs from your your computer, ipod, MP3 Player or other portable music device, songs that you would want to hear while playing CoX. The music and songs would only be unique to the user, meaning no one else around you or if you're on a team can hear it unless they decide to open up the "music que" in their chat menu and see who is listening to what songs. Should they decide to "plug-in" they to can share that song.
The "music que" will allow others within a team to see what song you are listing to and vice versa. Should they decide to listen to that song, they would just "click" on it. It would look something like this:
MUSIC QUE:
Bad to the Bone
Dirty Laundry
Gimme All Your Lovin
etc,..
etc,...
etc,..
The highlighted bold song is the one that you are listing to. Your teammate can elect to listen to that song or any of the other ones within your list and vice versa. Should you leave the team, their music would end and they would have to go back to their list of music in their own"music que". Basically, this is a shared environment with music. Should you elect not to "share" you can disable the "view" music que feature so others cannot see what songs you are listing to. Should you chose to want to listen to the wonderful background music of CoX...hehe, you can turn off your music que.
So now come the Cons: I can probably throw out a few off the top of my head. First, there may be copyright problems with this even though others can only "listen" and not "download" your music. Not sure what or why but it may have something to do with music being shared electronically and the fact that NP Soft is not in any type of contractual agreement with outside music being played within the game. Second, how would CoX handle this type of coding within the game itself. Let's face it, having something like this might just put too much burden on the servers and what they can handle and might really bog the game down. So far, I can only think of two Cons but I am sure there are more you guys can think of.
Now the Pros: Being able to listen to your own music or music of others on a team while "in game". That's it. no more no less. Again, if you can think of some more good Pros, please share them.
In a nutshell, if all else fails, I'll just turn my volume down on my computer just enough to hear the background CoX chatter and then crank up my Stereo. Heck, this might be the best option available...lol! -
Any badges for killing a certain number of Minion Frostlings when you've been naughty for opening up a gift?

Quote:BINGO!,....So the problem I was getting into from the get-go was I was inputting the link in the area that said "to upload picture" with the default of http://www. When others in this posting said it didn't work, I thought they meant you couldn't upload the image directly from your computer that didn't work so I was frantically trying to get it to upload not even thinking about adding the URL to the signature spot. Thanks for all your help.BTW, there is a command that you can use on the forums so that you an show people exact code, rather than using trickery or telling them to add spaces or replace symbols.
Example of the same code exactly as it would be used (copy/paste-friendly):

Also, keep in mind that people who do not have images enabled will only see a link to the thumbnail image, but not the full-size image unless you include text in the link as well, so I recommend doing something like this instead:
My Toons in all Their Glory!

Well after several failed attempts, I just added the picture link for my signature versus trying to get this thing to work the other way. Enjoy..
-
When you say "doesn't work" not sure what you mean? If having it hosted somewhere such as Photobucket, I have already done that and have the IMG Code for this picture. I guess I could keep trying until I can figure this out.
-
Having problems for some reason to get a picture to upload to my signature. My picture is at the proper size 600px X 120px. Below the 145KB size and I saved as a .jpg file.
As most of you know, we have a couple of options to add pictures to our signature. One being having it uploaded from a neutral site such as Photobucket. The second option is uploading it directly from your computer. My Avatar was uploaded via Photobucket with no problems whatsoever. It seems though I am having problems uploading this new picture from Photobucket as it keeps saying invalid URL. What's confusing on this as the "default" setting in the box already has http://www. Now, the last time I upload a picture from Photobucket, I never had to include the www. Regardless, I tried several times and no luck. As most you also might know, Photobucket has about four options to upload the image: Email & IM, Direct Link, HTML Code and IMG Code. I think I used IMG Code or Direct Link for my Avatar, I cannot remember?
Also, not sure why I cannot upload via my computer when my picture file size is correct and it is in the right format. When I hit upload, the screen says loading and nothing shows up. Am I missing something here? Any help would be appreciated. -
As I was hopping through Pocket D, I just happened to wander into the Vault Room. I had to ask myself, "why I never used the Vault?". My first thought was if I plopped a bunch of Invention Salvage in the Vault, and then signed on with another toon on the same server, would I still have access to the Salvage from my other toon who put it there? Me thinks no as the inventory is exclusive to that toon only.
My second question would be when do you think it would be advantageous to plop stuff in the Vault? I guess if you were crafting recipes for enhancements and such, it might be a good place to store the extra goodies? Also, since we are only given a limited slot inventory to hold this stuff, I am also thinking this would make a good "back-up" storage spot. My market philosophy so far has been to sell the items I don't need, or use the items to build some new invention sets that I can sell for a nice profit. Thus, I am constantly "moving" stuff around at the markets.
So, in a nutshell, can anyone give me some other beneficial tips on using the vault reserve other than just holding your goodies? If my other toons had access to the same vault then I would start to really re-think this one. Paragonwiki really didn't go into too much detail except to mention the amount of spaces you would get with each level. They also mentioned a "Physical Vault Building", one on the Hero side and one on the Villain side which I cannot recall ever seeing. Did they remove the Vault Buildings and just keep them in Pocket D? -
Quick question as I was unable to find the answer elsewhere. Once GR expansion becomes available, does anyone know if this will this be a "downloadable" expansion for those that already have CoX or does one have to physically go out and buy the CD to download? And, with that being said, does anyone have an approximate cost for this expansion pack?

I have always wondered about this one. Occasionally I would have my display window reduced for Tells and Broadcasts when in mish'es or other tasks. When I pull up the window I would sometimes get a Tell when I didn't hear the unique "ding" because of all the major Blasting and Banging I'm doing on the baddies. Not knowing how old the Tell for an invite was, I would send a reply back only to get the "sorry, full up". The same would hold true for Broadcasts. There may be an old Broadcast saying meet in Atlas for Costume Contest. I would have no idea how old that message is. So, this is what I would suggest:
1. First, have some kind of time stamp on each Broadcast, Tell or other messages. For example, someone sends you a Tell "Dark Braven, hey would you like to join a level 50 for some AV mish'es?" (6:32pm PST). You can see I added the time zone PST for Pacific Standard Time if that is the time zone you live in. No military time as it can get too confusing.
2. Second, have the ability to change the sound that Tells or other messages directed at you make. As I mentioned above, sometimes you can miss the "ding" sound when you get a message while in a heated battle. Maybe have something "flash" or "pop-up" on your screen when you get a message in addition to a unique sound. What do you guys think about this?
