Getting Picture to Upload to Signature

Father Xmas

Having problems for some reason to get a picture to upload to my signature. My picture is at the proper size 600px X 120px. Below the 145KB size and I saved as a .jpg file.

As most of you know, we have a couple of options to add pictures to our signature. One being having it uploaded from a neutral site such as Photobucket. The second option is uploading it directly from your computer. My Avatar was uploaded via Photobucket with no problems whatsoever. It seems though I am having problems uploading this new picture from Photobucket as it keeps saying invalid URL. What's confusing on this as the "default" setting in the box already has http://www. Now, the last time I upload a picture from Photobucket, I never had to include the www. Regardless, I tried several times and no luck. As most you also might know, Photobucket has about four options to upload the image: Email & IM, Direct Link, HTML Code and IMG Code. I think I used IMG Code or Direct Link for my Avatar, I cannot remember?

Also, not sure why I cannot upload via my computer when my picture file size is correct and it is in the right format. When I hit upload, the screen says loading and nothing shows up. Am I missing something here? Any help would be appreciated.

That's because that feature doesn't work. You need to host it somewhere and use IMG tags in your sig.

When you say "doesn't work" not sure what you mean? If having it hosted somewhere such as Photobucket, I have already done that and have the IMG Code for this picture. I guess I could keep trying until I can figure this out.

Well after several failed attempts, I just added the picture link for my signature versus trying to get this thing to work the other way. Enjoy..

The "upload" feature section isn't working, you have to put the image tags and link in the text area.

You're doing it right, you just need to type in the [img] and [/img] to both ends of your link.

Though that particular one is a bit big, might want to thumbnail it.

For that, use a url tag for the picture and an img tag with th_ before the picture in the url

Like so:

The way to do that is like this(replace braces with brackets, i just used them for the example so it would show up)

{url=http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f262/moonxq777/CoHFamilyScreenShotBackground.jpg}{img}http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f262/moonxq777/th_CoHFamilyScreenShotBackground.jpg{/img}{/url}

Alternatively, set your link options in photobucket to show the img thumbnail option and you can just copy/paste, though that will link it to the photobucket page not a direct link.

Hope you get it fixed.

Doesn't work means just that. It's disabled. It doesn't matter WHAT you put into that little area, it will never work.

Instead, you need to manually place the image into your sig, just like you do the text in your sig, in the same location.

Copy this, and add it under the text in your sig:
[img]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f262/moonxq777/CoHFamilyScreenShotBackground.jpg[/img]

That will then make your sig look like this:

My Toons in all Their Glory!

And don't be surprised when a mod asks you to remove it for being too large... >.>

BTW, there is a [noparse] command that you can use on the forums so that you an show people exact code, rather than using trickery or telling them to add spaces or replace symbols.

Example of the same code exactly as it would be used (copy/paste-friendly):
[img]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f262/moonxq777/th_CoHFamilyScreenShotBackground.jpg[/img]

Also, keep in mind that people who do not have images enabled will only see a link to the thumbnail image, but not the full-size image unless you include text in the link as well, so I recommend doing something like this instead:

My Toons in all Their Glory!
[img]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f262/moonxq777/th_CoHFamilyScreenShotBackground.jpg[/img]

Did you have a problem with Photobucket before? I like it because their system automatically gives you access to a thumbnail image as described above.

Maybe tinypic does too?

BINGO!,....So the problem I was getting into from the get-go was I was inputting the link in the area that said "to upload picture" with the default of http://www. When others in this posting said it didn't work, I thought they meant you couldn't upload the image directly from your computer that didn't work so I was frantically trying to get it to upload not even thinking about adding the URL to the signature spot. Thanks for all your help.
