Does it make you cry robot tears at night, when you realize that robots would never exist without some fleshy meatsack building one, some where, at some time?

If it's alright with you, I'd like to be able to discuss reasonable changes to an archetype with which I have at least some experience without being called an unskilled noob. Regardless of how much I've been trying to point out the flaws in the AS/Placate mechanic on teams, I am capable of setting that combination up.

The fact that some people who played each of those archetypes thought it might be a good idea to make it a little easier to achieve these things didn't make them unskilled players, either.
Peace. 'Twas meant to be tongue-in-cheek, which I thought the 'See what I did there?' indicated. You've done a much better job of keeping your cool than I ever would.

    Go you.

So, this touches upon a rather minor point I would like to raise. Consistently, the hypothetical mob of mobs being assaulted assumes everyone starts from go.

In my experience, there is only one such mob on any given map where everyone has a strong probability of attacking with coordination: The first. After that, it's more like a rotation thing. People are attacking mobs, as things die, some move forwards, some stay behind to finish off the stragglers, and then join up with the people attacking the next group, rinse, repeat. So, if a Stalker's got an inherent that makes him a bloody ninja when he wants terribly to be, what's to stop him from leaving just a little bit earlier? Does that last Bronze Strongman really need three people wailing on it? That Crey Rent-A-Cop? Yeah, were it me, I'd feel a bit patronized that other members of my team thought I couldn't handle it on my own. Just sayin'.

Anyway, so, my point is, it's not necessarily a three-second slog from the moment someone yells 'Go!'. There are ways to set an AS up so it lands in a timely manner.

Might that require a bit of technique, knowledge, and experience? Why, yes, it would. And some skill and finesse, too.

    See what I did there?

My point is that in order to make stalkers more team friendly, they made them more like scrappers with the ability to crit out of hide on any target (early on it was just a chance to crit on held or slept targets) that scales with number of teammates in range. The more people on your team, the more like a scrapper you play. Your AS doesn't see nearly as much use during normal teaming as it does solo, and AS (combined with your tier 9) is close to half your damage potential.

What it boils down to is that - while teamed - a stalker plays like a weak scrapper unless your team is fighting AV's and hard targets, which are a small fraction of total teamable content.

And I'll be the last person to say scrappers are boring.
Well, and here inexperience bites me in the ***. I haven't ever had a high-level Stalker, and when I've teamed with them, I've never really paid them any attention. Figured they were doing their own Stabbity Death! thing.

Huh. Well, I'd thought Stalkers got fixed up back in the day. Shame, or something, I guess.
  6. I'm reading this five-to-seven seconds number a lot, and forgive me if I'm missing something here, I'm one of those boring, low-brow Scrappers y'all made speak of, but isn't that number irrelevant at best and disingenuous at worst?

Can a Scrapper do more damage from more safety after five-to-seven seconds?

...******* duh. This isn't news. 'Twas my perception that the point of a Stalker is to end the fight before then. If a Scrapper fights for ten seconds, then the Stalker preps for seven and fights for three.

So, if the two are quite apples and oranges, why are they being compared?
  7. I'm dropping Dark Blast for Blinding Powder. I don't really need a ranged attack with Blackwand, and it wasn't slotted for anything, anyways.

On the subject of attack chains, It looks like, right now, I'll be using

    Energy Punch->Bone Smasher->Barrage->Boxing

as my basic chain, with Total Focus and Energy Transfer thrown in as they pop (Which is roughly every twelve seconds.)

...Which, by my calculations, is around 85 damage per second.

So, that's not that bad, from a burst set with some heavy-hitters to add in the orange, is it?
  8. So, Going Rogue's in the air, and I've decided to take a (no pun intended) stab at playing a Stalker. Traditionally, this hasn't gone well, but I think that the right combination of concept, orange numbers, and OMG GR!!1!! might be just the ticket.

So, below is the build I've got so far. I'm not using purples, or anything grossly expensive. I like to build builds that I could feasibly have in-game for a couple hundred million and some patience.

Notes: This is a PvE build. I know some powers might be in weird places, but I wasn't sure what things were really priorities, and what could wait a few levels.

Also, I'm not terribly concerned with Barrage being in the 20's. I've got a metric ****-ton of Vet powers, and I might as well use 'em.

    So, without further ado, build:

I dunno. The immortal character I think I've enjoyed most is Amaranth, from Tales of MU, an immortal nymph... who was born seventeen years ago.

That's kind of the same boat Statesman is in, no?

  16. Shield Defense, Ninjutsu and Super Reflexes all have mez protection that's not a toggle, but a click. Not only is it not perma until SOs, but what's the point any more? Back in the day, it made perfect sense. It had to be reapplied, but it couldn't be de-toggled. Nowadays, when mez protection doesn't detoggle, it's just a gimped power, methinks.

Or, to put it in more relevant terms, Reichsman's existence is not sufficient proof to determine the nature of reality and "multi-dimensional" universes.

Ghost Widow is already confirmed as a (I believe) high-ranking Resistance fighter.

Also, Calvin Scott seems to fill to literary role of your reimagined Recluse. That being said, it's certainly a concept with promise.
