'Struth, that. I consider Flashing Steel the most skippable attack on Katana, bar none. I don't miss it in the slightest.
-
Nanoha will develop a desperate and crushing need to be friends -or maybe even adopt- the person below me.
Heh heh heh... You're gonna get killed, sucker. -
Also, a couple ex-coworkers of mine were EMTs, and mentioned ETOH is what they're supposed to say in the instance someone is (possibly) drunk, instead of flat-out saying the person might have been drunk.
So, 90% of all rattlesnake bites happen to men, typically with ETOH involvement. -
The concept of challenge vs. reward as opposed to risk vs. reward is, well, a bit revolutionary, I think. Honestly, I don't expect you'll get what you're looking for in this particular thread, because I don't think that the forums are ready for the idea. We're still hung up on whether or not farming is a good idea, while your model rather elegantly makes it a non-issue.
But, I think it's the correct idea, and I think you should keep mentioning it, now and again, and allow it to build momentum. -
Belbe nodded approvingly. "Perhaps we can attempt to capture one of these... things on our way out, for examination, but now is hardly the time. More are coming."
Fate, proving it had a sense of drama, sent another such creature lurching out from behind a far-off building. It glanced around for a moment, and then looked straight at the scouting party. With a grunt, it started towards them.
Belbe raised her arm. A small set of tubes lay across her forearms. With a flick of her wrist, a dart the size of a pencil sped out the end of a tube, and flew through the air. It pierced the oncoming... thing's head with enough force to knock it down.
For all the good it did, though. More were coming. -
((I'd just like to say, before we move any further, that "1+1= Zombie" is pretty darn cool.))
Belbe exited the Humvee. Readings from the suit she wore indicated, among other things, that there was nothing in the air that couldn't be protected against by her uniform's helmet. Pleased that she wouldn't have to wear the bulky thing, she undid the seals, which hissed merrily.
The suit required a bit of convincing to shed, and during that time anyone looking would have seen long, violet hair veiling an angular -if quite striking- face. Then, she was free of the suit and her helmet was locked in place.
A HUD blipped into life in time to alert her of an articulation and the possible combat activities of her 'teammates'. She ducked around the Humvee in time to see gold lights flash from one's hands. -
-
I liked it. The not-quite-noir feel was interesting, but not overplayed, and there's something about the tempo... even the prose sections felt a bit like poetry, which was really cool.

Steelclaw, when was the last time someone informed you you're Completely Frakkin' Awesome?
-
Belbe looked over the suit. It would be bulky and restrictive, but she couldn't see a reason not to wear it. At worst, she could always take it off.
As she finished donning it, the others seemed to be likewise finishing preparations to leave.
"Well, then. Is there anything left to do, or shall we head on in?" She asked. -
Quote:Ask, and ye shall recieve. This isn't as optimized, though it does have very high positional defenses, and it'll run you roughly a tenth the price of Umbral's build. I've cleared the Rikti War Zone challenge with it, if that means anything by you. It doesn't matter much to me.Is there a good katana/regen build that doesn't cost as much or do u have to sink a lot of money into it for it to be good?

Bollocks, though our friend the F-Bomb is a close second.
8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Author.
9. What profession would you not like to participate in?
Kindergarten Teacher.
10. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates.
"Ah, you've arrive? We have a few minutes. What would you like to talk about?" -
Belbe stood motionless throughout the briefing, but when the time for questions was announced, she spoke.
"Has anything living attempted to pass through this... Dome? And have any of the mechanicals you've sent through been able to confirm whether or not entering the Dome still leads to the town itself?" -
Commotion stirred around the camp. Soldiers rushed towards a particular area. Officers shouted orders. Weapons made clicking sounds, and bigger weapons were pointed skywards.
An Arachnos flier was descending from the sky.
It settled down with little more than a dull thump, and was silent.
A minute passed, and then a hatch opened. Guns were realigned, and clicked a few more times.
Out of the hatch stepped a woman, dressed in the uniform of a Night Widow. She stepped to the ground, and approached the surrounding military.
“My name is Widow Belbe. I have been dispatched by his Lord Recluse, with agreement from your government, to examine and lend assistance as I may. My authorization should be coming through soon.”
The grunt she addressed blinked at her for a moment. Then, instead of keeping her next to the Flier, as he should have done, he stepped to the side and allowed her to pass. “Head that way, into camp, Ma’am.” He pointed. “Someone with a lab coat will brief you.”
The Widow swept past him, and headed towards the camp.
(( Name: Belbe (Widow Belbe to all y’all.)
Species: Human, minor mutations
Belbe is carrying all the standard goodies a Night Widow would have in the field. Smoke Grenades, special darts, the works. In addition to the standard Night Widow skillset, which I’m assuming includes tasks like hacking, bomb defusing, and a whole lot of assassination, Belbe is telepathic, though she can only perform several specific feats with her powers. She has minor kinesthesic mutations, enhancing her base dexterity and strength.)) -

Quote:I once made a group zone from Galaxy to Atlas on foot because I thought the trains were broken. In my defense, they were, it's just that they'd been fixed since then, and I was mistaking the get-off area for a get-on area.I went to the wrong place in the train so i was going to go to the place i wanted to from the train. I clicked on the train but did not let me in i tried to get in about 100 times when i shouted on the broadcast then someone told me there were two places in the train one were you go in and one were you go out.

Thanks, all, for your thoughts and suggestions so far. Zerikan and Frederick are closest to what I'm aiming for, but I'm getting ideas from all of this.
-
So, I've got a Night Widow character. And I absolutely love her. She's a blast to play, I've got a fairly simple character concept that writes itself, no problems anywhere. Except the costume.
I tend to play Soldiers by the book. Their 'official' costume is as close to the NPC's as I can make it, as are their proportions. But non-official costumes in general, and this one in particular, tend to leave me stumped. Basically, what Im looking for is something rather sensual, but something that looks like it was designed for Widow combat. That is, something protective, but also very lightweight for freedom of movement.
Im completely stumped as to what I should be trying, and so, Im submitting my conundrum to all you forumites out there, cause Im sure plenty of you know costumes better than I do.
So, uh, thanks in advance, and show me your magic. -

Quote:Why? Cobmat may be proposing an MMO, but they're far more similar in terms of gameplay then anything else on that list.I wouldn't really put inFamous or prototype in the same category as this.
As to the suggestion itself: I like it, kind of. I like it in the sense that it sounds like it would be a fun world to play around in, but Slick's right. A world like that, with no real advancement for the character, needs a story, or something, to keep everyone there. And, as an MMO, it's going to need lots and lots and lots of story. Can these be provided?
On top of that, go back through the last couple sandbox games you played. Remember how powerful the PC was, in comparison to the rest of the game? Will that really make for good multiplayer? 'Cause, from where I'm standing, that looks like a long series of abuses, waiting to happen. Unless you go the EVE Online route, which is rather nonconductive to the whole 'Superhero' thing.
Basically, this looks to me like you're trying to pitch the perks of playing a single-player RPG in an MMO setting. It sounds interesting, but I'm not sure it's something feasible. -
Hello, My name is 'Doom. I'm a proponent of stabbing people in the face as a means of criminal deterance.
On the boards, I lurk and post occaisonal suggestions, comments, and snarks. My main is a 50 Katana/Regen, and he's specced for Defense.
Also, I think the new boards are shiny. -

I prefer the small, fairly frequent free updates with a fat paid expansion in the pipeline over infrequent but more substantial free updates with nothing else happening.
[/ QUOTE ]
I absolutely agree.
[/ QUOTE ]
Me too.
For example, I wouldn't mind a space or undersea expansion in late 2010.

A space expansion in 2010 doesn't strike you as remotely ominous?
