Quote:I never have any idea to what the people voting are going to respond. In terms of execution yours is very strong: full figure interacting with another character, lots of detail, color, textures, etc. I don't vote in competitions where I myself am competing but it would definitely be in my top three.
Not doing as well as I'd hoped -

Hmn, I seem to have really clutzed up on this months one =/ -
How many different designs would you be looking to have?

Quote:The only major objection I remember having in the past was that nobody should be allowed to win by some technicality of the rules. You should have to submit art in order to win. That's in line with what I've said here. Actually I also had an issue with Juggertha's tracing. I don't think that should be allowed in an art contest.
Well that seems a much different opinion than what you've held in the past but no matter my initial objection wasn't with Bubba's participation. He failed to put up a qualifying piece, simple as that.
As for Bubba's piece--no, I don't believe it's as simple as you're stating. The theme of the contest was fire. The issue is then "what constitutes a work that is playing on this theme?" If I drew a devil with a pitchfork, would the connotations of hellfire be enough to qualify? What about a gun firing? Or a depiction of someone suffering from acid indigestion?
How about ice? Someone here suggested a picture with diamonds. IMO an art contest should be fostering creativity. Unfortunately they sometimes suffer from overly literal understanding of how the theme should serve as a basis for the work.
I believe he made a good faith effort to qualify. I'm taking into account his current level of ability and difference in style. Also, while I agree with Suichi's philosophy that the work should speak for itself it's not uncommon for judges to question an artist in order to clarify some aspect of the work. And we're not talking about winning here, just qualifying for the competition. -
In pvp repulsing torrent does more damage than focused burst AND is a wide cone. Its very good against masterminds because you can hit the mm and most of the pets at the same time. If you're going be doing a lot of zone fighting where you will need ranged to finish off targets at a distance, take it. If you're going to fiteklub and stand toe to toe skip it.
-
The only really tangible result that comes from this contest is that people produce art and maybe develop as artists or do things they don't normally do. Participation is more important than haggling over the rules. Bubba if you drop out I beat you!

Quote:Wow, sorry about that. I'm surprised, he seemed pretty eager to do some cox commissions.
Anyways, I went to go back to Yesterday's Tomsawyer to set up a commish, and the account's been deactivated, fyi -
You can check sites like Turbo Squid to see if anyone is selling a stock model that would fit your needs. Something might even be available through Poser or Daz studio. To make one, you would have to model it in a 3d package (ZBrush, Maya, 3dStudio Max, Lightwave, Blender, etc.).

It boils down to playstyle. I have SS, SJ, fighting and medicine. I use targeting drone for perception in RV. My escape move is VIP jump pack. Sometimes I'll pick up the temp phase but usually I'm too lazy. Personally, I find elec to be pretty squishy without tough.

Thanks guys!
The eyes are all black but I made them as actual eyeballs with highlights to indicate gloss/wetness. If its a big deal I can make them blacker. -
This guy has some crazy anime-inspired design and is very reasonably priced:

Here's an update on the zbrush sculpt. The belt will have the Soviet hammer and sickle in the circular section:
Also here's an update on the Danger St. Clair piece:

Study anatomy. If you really want to get it down, practice drawing from real life examples.

That is precisely what he did: butcher good ATs and powers. Heal decay and DR made support classes largely irrelevant in zone pvp. There is a more narrow range of FoTMs and escape powers like phase shift and hibernate are mandatory for the majority of builds. Splitting of these effects WAS a very good thing for the game as a whole, since the majority of the playerbase would ragequit if they were applied to pve.
Castle didn't cave to whining. He also didn't listen to reasoned analysis. He disregarded active pvpers entirely to cater to a hypothetical might-be-interested-in-pvp playerbase that never materialized. I'm sure he did good things for this game. He was BAD for the part that I'm here to play. -
Quote:Lol dude he didn't understand pvp. He gutted what was good the old system and killed off the majority of the pvp community by going in exactly the opposite direction that people were telling them for years. There's a glimmer of hope with his moving on.
Silly players that don't understand things like *balance* or *math.*
