((Sorry it's a little late, I can only post from home or my lunch break, and I wasn't at home last night.))
Fridan turned to see Luminesence skipping towards him. He gave her an appraising glance. While he typically had little time or inclination for a relationship with a woman, he had to admit that if he did, she would rate highly on the list.
"Samantha, my dear, it is as always my great pleasure to see you" he said "even under these... terrible circumstances." He accepted her short embrace, while maintaining an air of dignity and composure. "Unfortunately, I do not have a gamma-to-x-ray blocker to hand, but I can at least do my best to help with the task at hand."
He stepped over to nearest bodies and knelt down between them, apparently completely unphased. "We can have a catch up later, I'm sure" He placed a hand on the corpses either side of him and blinked out of sight. After a minute, he reappeared next to another paid of bodies, again placing a hand on each. He continued teleporting bodies to the mourge as the psychics felt the effects of the most recent murder. -
Fridan leant back in his chair, his eyes closed as he let the sound of the cities radio chatter wash over him.
"I need somethingthing significant" he mused to himself "to get back onto the publicity radar." He opened his eyes to look at the bank of monitors in front of him, hundreds of them silently showing a wide array of television channels. The electronic augments to his mind allowed him to filter through the information with little difficulty. He picked up the sound of footsteps behind him.
"You already have six action figures, do you really need more?" Cadmia smiled. The robot he'd created to test a new power source, who somehow achieved sentience and named herself his daughter. Fridan had grown used to the idea.
"I've been traveling other worlds for too long." he replied "People forget. They need to trust me..." he trailed off. "Here, on the police band, this could be something." With no visible input, the screens and radio chatter stopped. A broadcast from the PPD internal radio network replayed. Reports of a mass of bodies discovered in Skyway City. "I want a visual down there."
Suddenly, all the screens flicked back on, showing one large image of intersecting highways and buildings. Skyway City from above looked somehow quieter, more subdued than usual. The tiny flying camera fly down to where there seemed to a small flurry of activity.
"There is something I would describe as significant..." Fridan remarked. He watched as several heroes arrived on the scene, recognising Luminescence and Kitsune. "Yes, this is something I could get involved with. Cadmia, I want you to keep all systems running normally, I'm going to be busy for a little while."
"Alright dad" she said, with mock disdain. "have fun with the dead people."
***********
With a small flash of light, Fridan appeared at the scene. Impeccably dressed from head to toe in an expensive looking black suit, long black hair hanging loose, his dark skin glowing blue with the light from his eyes. He turned to the nearest officer, seemingly oblivious to the bodies next to him. "I've come to lend my aid. Might I enquire, who is in charge and what can I do to assist?" -
I like Crimson's idea a lot, it would certainly fit with my own current characters more easily. It also makes it harder to remain undisovered, but gives them even more reason to be careful. Hmmm...
-
As other's have said, I don't think there are any groups that spring to mind right away. There was always an undertone of this in the Fletched Alliance. Certainly my character and group leader (soon to be ex) Akkarin would "tread the line" but this would generaly be done very quietly and mostly when plot's took him to the rogue islands. Some of the other earlier group members were similar, but it's something the newer members are often unaware of for a while.
There was the Cirque de la Lune a while back of course. In the time that I was a member, it was accepted that your character had to be willing to kill, but only when completely neccesary, and I think that's a big point behind getting this right. That yes, they might kill people, but it's because they belive it's neccesary.
I'm a big fan of this concept, it sits very well with my main Fridan. He joined Vanguard because of their "do what it takes to get the job done" mentality. If this goes ahead, feel free to contact me @Fridan, it sounds very interesting. -
I play a homosexual character myself, Ray Feeze. At first he wasn't going to be, but I decided on a pink hat in the cossie creator and things went from there.... :P
He is deffiantely one of my favourite characters to play, more to do with his personality than his orientation. The problem I've found, as others mentioned, is having almost no other homosexual characters to RP with. So Ray is likely to stay single for a looong time yet.
I don't play any lesbian characters, simply because of my own wish to avoid the cliche, but I don't see it as a problem if it's played well. -
Oh yes, looking forward to the RP aspects of this very much. It's perfect for my main Fridan. He'll be leading his elite Shadow Shard soldiers along with the various combat robots he's built over the years. Being an ex-general, he'll be taking the lead early on, running his own mini-vanguard. Similar to the Requiem war, but more-so I think.
Akkarin is an interesting one, I think his actions will be more decided by the state of the FA at the time, and their actions, as well as his own.
As for the various other toons, I've got too many ideas, we'll have to wait and see.
PS. Agreed on Pocket D, it might end up as the main safe zone. Unsure wether that's good or bad just yet. -
Dude! You've always been my favourite clown (Not much competion, but nevermind). You were one of the people that inspired me to get into RP so very long ago. I didn't know you as long as some of the others, but damn it was fun.
Love ya dude, have fun, never do anything sensible. -
I've been toying with the idea of playing a troller, finally giving in a few days ago. I've gone with Ice/Sonic partly out of concept (Air mage) and partly because it's just something different. Got to level 8 so far and need some advice on how to proceed. Here is my planned build.

I did notice that I found myself with a lot of spare slots throughout. I'm also a little uncertain on pool choices, I took aid self because having a heal could come in handy. I'm hoping the combination of Arctic Air and Sonic Dispersion will let me stay in melee a little longer for Glacier or getting Jack into range. Any thoughts? -
Akkarin sighed for the fifth time in two minutes. He was waiting to the side of a stage in a brightly lit room, filled with journalists of all shapes and sizes. To his right a slightly balding short man in a grey suit was standing at the podium, introducing him in a lengthy and quite boring manner. Scanning the crowd, Akkarin sighed again. Most of the press were sitting out there, pens on paper or dictations machines pointed in his direction. He recognised many of them from similar occasions.
The announcer finished his piece and moved away, with a small measure of reluctance. Akkarin took a last look around, taking in all the incredible normality of the situation and thinking to himself how much he hated it. He took his place in front of the microphone and straightend his papers.
"Right, let's see....." he spoke into the mic "I'm here today to clear up the alegations aimed at both myself and The Fletched Alliance. First off I would like to make it clear that we have no intention whatsoever to attack any nation, nor make any attempt to control, influence or generaly be mean to. The alegations that the Fletched Alliance have control of weapons of mass destruction, turn to evil and seek world domination come from one Alfred Bester. He released said 'information' too the press, having left the group after a disagreement with myself and several other members. I would like to assure all of you, the Fletched Alliance is dedicated to protecting the citizens of Paragon and the world, as we always have been and that we never have nor ever will condone the use of mass-murder weapons. Thankyou, that is all"
He turned his back on the imdeiate uproar as every reporter in the room tried to make themselves heard. He walked off the side of the stage, straight past his press advisor and his thumbs up. Past all the people and paasages and straight out the back door. Before leaping he muttered one thing.
"Dear god I hate the press" -
Fantastic as ever, I especially like the Coile/Sword one.
Agreed with Coile that Inago looks somehow older and more studly than I'd imagine him, less teenagery. Even so, I love how it looks with the detail on the jacket and the shape of Pyr's jeans.
P.S. Did you get them screenies? -
3056712.5, mostly solo :P
Cheers guysIt was a long long.... looong journey, many friends have come and gone on the way. This is my tribute to all of you *raises a beer*

Well I can add the Fletched Alliance, we're on Union.
The general theme of the FA is a bit of a ragtag group of heroes, often on the slightly (Hah, slightly) unstable side, most notably quite a large number of the group enjoy a good fight. This also accounts for the ledgendary "FA suicidal charge"
We're generaly very friendly and welcome new members.

Three days, Fridan had been fighting constantly for three days. His unit had made their way to every front, providing a stong extra defense force for the forces at Peregrine, leading a central assualt on the enemies based in croatoa, forming a line against the advance on Terra Volta, storming the streets of Talos and Steel to slow the advance of the gangs. They'd seen every front of battle, lost friends at each.
Fridan had orginaly been granted one thousand men as the advanced unit from the Shadow Shard, with General Hammond coming later to back up the forces in Peregrine. Now he was left 463, another 212 behind the lines waiting for his order to advance.
He looked out at the state of the battle. His troops had set up an falcon formation, one of Fridan's tricks from home. It was having the desired effect, his men had divided the enemy lines perfectly. Taking a last look at the situation from his vantage point, Fridan teleported into the center of the battle, turning the tide again.
-----------------------
Three days. Akkarin hasn't moved in three days. In the Arcane room of the Fletched Alliance tower he sits, perfectly still. The only movement in the room is the steady rotation of the power crystal and the pacing of a small black cat, a look of concern in her deep green eyes.
In the dark parts of the city, where the battle rages and emotions run high, things are stirring. Every now and then, shadows can be seen lunging for Requiems troops, cutting deeply. -
Portal corp, 3:00am
Portal access authorised, subject: Fridan
Fridan burst out from the portal to the Shadow Shard at top speed, closely followed by 10....30.....60.... 100 men. The soldiers kept coming, lining up in formation in front of Fridan.
"Alright men, you heard the briefing, we're on auxiliery defense force here. You've all been linked up to my teleport system so we can react where we're needed." Fridan took a short moment to analyise the men under his command, the battle hardened troops of the Shadow Shard, he couldn't have asked for a tougher group of soldiers. "Those of you that have served with me before know that I fight with my men, we can defeat this threat together."
With that he actived the teleporter and joined the battle outside portal court.
An island 3 miles NW of Peregrine, one hour earlier
"The automated defenses are holding up fine father. I've dispatched one heavy assualt unit to assist each zone underattack.... no, I had to build some more..... yes, I'll get on it." Cadmia dashed from one side of the lab to the other, red lights glaring all over. "I've managed to intercept quite a few of the missles, but there's no way to intercept all of them.... yes, I'll keep trying. Father? Will you be here soon?" -
Absoloutly, have a fine day old chap.
Good times, more to come, evewn as you steadily approach death. (I like to keep it lighthearted)
Happy cakeday! -
Agreed with Quilla, GG to me is a RP communtity, not just the statue. I see no problem with posting updates from antics around the city, I like to hear the news.
Glad we have a new thread, the last one was getting extremely slow.
Last night GG was fairly empty, it ended up being a FA meet. Akkarin spent most of the night resolving an issue within the FA. Needless to say, open hostility has died down, but people will be watched... -
((well well, I'd had thoughts along the lines of an IC band, never really took it anywhere though.
I'd be interested, Akkarin would deffinately make a fine lead guitarist. Any more info needed at all?)) -
Only justed spoted this. Personaly I like to go to extremes, big powers, big flaws.
Lets take Fridan as an example. Physicaly, he's made of a super strong alloy that regenerates itself at crazy speed. To really take him out you'd need something that could wipe out every last atom so the nanos wouldn't be around too rebuild him. Even then you'd have to take out his small island where there are backup systems for just such a case . So, pretty much immortal unless you've got a couple of nukes. He's also something of a genius when it comes to technology, which is quite handy in a lot of cases.
Flaws though, are mainly personality flaws. He generaly hates magic in all forms. If magic is being done, he'll want to leave the room. This has been toned down a bit since he made a few mage friends, but it's still there. Then there's The Ego, he's extremely aroogant and knows just how much better than you he is. This has got him in trouble before (It's a giant robot, I can take one giant robot, easy). Also the fact that he has no sense of touch, smell or taste, which rather sucks for him. Oh and there's that backup system, those that know what I'm talking about know how much of a flaw that is.
My other character Akkarin has some pretty major powers too, but I hope I've done a better job at balacing him (experiance and all that). As a kind of vampire, he's strong and fast and such. I had a play around with some story ideas and thought of a way to avoid the whole sunlight and blood issue. After a few events he gained a whole load of magic knowledge, not to mention the underground semi-living giant library. That knowledge is pretty major, so he'll know something about most magic based situations.
The flaws though, they're the fun part. The main one would be the fact that the person these memories came from had stupid crazy amounts of raw magic talent and Rin, quite simply doesn't (even with his schemes to build it up). Peronality flaws is the big one though. He's a vampire, so naturaly he spent a long time doing bad things. Even after all the stuff that changed him, he's still firmly lacking in disipline and morals. He'll lie, kill, steal, sleep with and generaly be bad if he see's how it serves the "greater good." To some that comes under villian, which makes him a fun hero to play. -
Somewhere under Dark Astoria 16/06 5:00am
There is no light here, they like it that way. Here in this little cave, so far from the world... I used to like it in here. Well, better get this over with, there's more to be done.
"I need a favour... a big one. Don't give me that look, you owe me this. Council.... just give them some trouble, let them know the children of the night are out to get them. Hurt them, make life difficult and tell me anything you find out about their movements."
The reply was a short nod and nothing more.
With the turned vampires out to get them the council are gonna have a tough time getting organised. There may not be many now, but they're good, this'll make things easier. -
Sure, a few of us are usualy around Galaxy Girls statue at 9pm. Some IC asking around should get some results. And as I said, you can send a tell @Fridan.
-
Big cheese here, you can find me in game @Fridan, probably on Akkarin, the IC leader.
As he said, watcha need?
EDIT: Too slow. We're not offcialy an archer group no, just a RP group that was named with an archer in mind. -
Ok, here I go.
On the subject of using a great big broadsword/assualt rifle/whatever, I generaly go by the principle that the villians we're fighting are beyond you're standard human. As we know, the PDP are what most would consider ordinary people with basic equipment. As such any of the villians we deal with are beyond them, including a level 1 hellion. To sum up what I'm trying to say, I tend to assume that a swing from a katana (or several) isn't going to be lethal.
Akkarin, my semi-main, is similar to Veskit in that he can and has accidently killed oppnents. Due to his somewhater darker side, this doesn't bother him in the slightest. Several times he's been out to kill someone intentionaly, this is kept quiet though. I certainly wouldn't call him a hero in the typical sense, he is a firm beliver in doing what's neccesary rather than what is right.
Innocents though, he'd always avoid hurting them, more from guilt than anything else but at least he does it. From a RP perspective, this is easier to do with certain powersets than others. His Katana for example, is much easier to aim than hurling a fireball at a group of people.
I think that'll do for now -
I suppose the nearest I have is Cadmia, an android but certainly has a teenager personality.
Oh and Akkarin, he complains about "Those damn kids" quite often.
