  3. Just an idea here, I have no idea if this is true but perhaps since such a big part of Siren's Call pvp is the hot spot fighting, and since npcs are stronger in the new pvp because of diminished returns - maybe this bonus is to make up for the DR so people can fight over the hot spots on more equal terms with the npcs?

Cuba has never sent its army to free prisoners from US soil. If they thought they had a chance the US would have gone to war. They have gone to war over less in the real world.
  5. OPs complaint doesn't make sense.

One last thing, when I'm working on MIDs and say I have 30% melee defense and 8% energy defense. Does that mean against a melee energy attack I have 38% defense? Or only 30%? If I'm supposed to combine the two then reaching softcap won't be as hard as I had thought.
Only the best of the defenses counts. If someone hits you with an energy melee attack (or any melee attack really) it's 30%. If it's a ranged energy attack it's 8%. If it's some other kind of ranged attack it's 0%.
  7. 35% is still good. It's fine for "normal play", and whenever you're up against something more challenging you can just pop a small purple and hey, now you're soft-capped!
  8. Makes more sense than most Nemesis plots.

And yet, still, somehow, it hasn't. You know what my best evidence is? The Rogue Isles are still there.

In case you haven't noticed, the war walls haven't really helped prevent Terra Volta from being overrun by villains anyway.

The US military has been severely diminished ever since the first Rikti war. It wouldn't surprise me if the Arachnos army is one of the strongest in the world. They even have the threat of nukes, in a roundabout way.

Even easier fixed: Castle wasn't named after a signature hero, his alter ego was put into the game after the fact. Black Pebble could be added too, if someone really thought that was a cool name and a character worth adding. I don't.

The rule of five? What's that?

I also think that defense sets should count for more on Bosses and higher ranks, that would make things more fair.

It's a coincidence. They picked your character at random. They managed to buy your DNA from someone else, maybe one of the hospitals kept some and a nurse stole it. When they found out who you were they copied your usual costume, which you happened to be wearing. They just wanted someone else to pin the robbery on, to confuse and mislead. You are the main character of the story so you are it.

Actually, the cloning via DNA thing is ridiculous anyhow as it makes no sense for player characters who are robots, magical constructs, elemental beings, or anyone who is Science-origin (in which they would have to recreate the events that transformed you, assuming that it didn't really alter your base DNA).
Players of such concepts should be used to making up **** to cover for those inconsistencies by now. I know I am.

Something even more Sci-Fiey like a malfunctioning teleporter or quantum replication device could have covered that much better and still allow for things like the flawed clone and the nonsense of the 2nd wave in the cloning tests.
Sure, that could have worked too. Would probably have worked better. But now it's a cloning facility.
  16. Blue-side: DC - the fun, colorful heroes.

Red-side: Marvel - the faceless dark monolith of evil with a spider-theme. CoV seemed to be a joke at Marvel's expense to get back at them for the lawsuit.
  17. But then it wouldn't help at all with the hunt missions, and it wouldn't make the zone prettier since it wouldn't be permanent and the changes couldn't be quite as dramatic.

Maybe on one of the unused islands nearby to lessen the impact of sudden changes. If the place spawned Carnies reliably those hunt missions would not be nearly as annoying.
  19. I haven't heard the sound of the grocery bags yet. What does it sound like?

Yes, I've noticed that too. I'm spending a lot of time testing my bosses to make sure they are not impossible to defeat. I've still not managed to beat my Frostfire AV (as an EB) on my Spider but I haven't resorted to using inspirations yet, so he's probably ok...

I'm currently designing my first new custom group since the i17 changes to the powers and rewards system and I have to say that it's not at all hard to make custom critters that are about the same difficulty as regular enemies, and still give 100% reward.

It's however quite easy to go overboard since you can't tell how much more than 100% your character is "worth". If you made something worth 150% it's probably going to be harder than something worth just 100%, and so on. Knowing how much the actual value is (while still capping everything at 100% of course) would be great.
  22. A few buildings/locations I think the city could use to appear more like a real city:

An airport. Maybe air traffic has been closed ever since the Rikti war and it's only just now been allowed to start up again. Make a bunch of missions around the Rikti, Sky Raiders and heck, Cabal witches disrupting air traffic. Now and then a crashed plane zone event could occur, and heroes have to help put out fires and locate survivors... ok, maybe too much like Champions Online.

A train station and range. Tracks running off into the distance. Trains actually rolling in and out of the station, standing on side tracks, etc. Both monorail lines should come together here. Lots of Family and other gang-related dealings take place there; train-robberies, smuggling, etc. Okay, HERE is a perfect place for a zone event: a derailed train!

A museum. With Family, Council and Sky Raiders constantly trying to steal the precious jewel from the exhibition, or Hellions, Tsoo, Banished Pantheon or Circle of Thorns breaking in to nab an artifact or two, this could be one of the busiest places in town.

A concert hall/theater. Now and then a gaggle of journalists gather outside and limos roll up, letting out well-dressed people walking up a red carpet. A perfect place to stage a huge robbery with all the celebs wearing their best jewelry, or a kidnapping, or an assassination.

How to get these into the game in the most seamless way?

As mayhem/safeguard missions! Instead of robbing/protecting a bank we would randomly get offers to rob the museum, protect the concert hall visitors, assist with the derailed train at the station or hi-jack a plane at the airport. It's so simple I can't believe nobody's thought of it yet...

Other new semi-zones could "easily" be added to the safeguard/mayhems. How about a suburb where villains go to kidnap a hero's family, heroes go to fight off the Rikti and so on.

Crisis at Terra Volta! Another safeguard/mayhem that takes place in the reactor area. Villains are of course trying to steal some plutonium or disrupt the city's power supply for some nefarious plot reason. Heroes are trying to stop them.

Ok, this has turned into an entirely different suggestion but I think I've got my point across.
  23. I guess I'm the only one who likes the brutalist architecture in the game then. Discrepancies like not having a flag everywhere could be attributed to a different mindset in CoX US compared to real life US. Maybe everyone is less nationalistic since the entire Earth was attacked by aliens, and a global movement has taken over those feelings. Maybe having flags up around every important or semi-important building turned out to be a bad idea since the Rikti would then know where to aim. Maybe the anti-religious Rikti took out the churches and temples first so ever since then religious services take place in anonymous buildings. Etc. Etc.

I still have a big question though: why the hell was I cloned to begin with?
Because you're the main character, of course.
  25. I like the buildings in Paragon City. I like the style, and I like the function. By function I mean that all (almost) buildings in Paragon City have tiny ledges on their walls, usually corresponding with window ledges, which can be used to "climb" a building or superjump from. This function is often not present on newer buildings, which is very annoying.

I like the cluttered shanty towns found here and there in the Rogue Isles. I love the huge "older" skyscrapers found in Port Oakes and Cap Au Diable. I dislike all things Arachnos. Their buildings look completely fake. Arachnos "bases" look like Lego models in their architecture. They are the outdoors equivalent of the Office map layouts. Ramps, ramparts, catwalks, bulwarks, walls, towers, spikes - all of it jumbled together without making much logical sense.

One of the best or worst examples is the structure where the Arbiter hangs out in Sharkhead. It's like someone decided that the Arbiter needed shelter from the weather so they put up walls on three sides. The building seems too small to fill any other purpose. The larger Arachnos bases look a little better because they seem large enough to actually have an interior, but they are still a jumbled mess.

And Grandville is of course one of the worst cases. The buildings in the Gutter are really pretty and the Gutter itself looks great. Spider city on the other hand looks like a small Arachnos base blown up out of proportion.

Recluse's tower isn't so bad but why is it surrounded by buildings which don't look like buildings but rather like giant copper tanks, pipes and tubes? It's like Lord Recluse decided to build a huge and very impressive palace for himself, but he put it in an industrial zone and it ended up hidden behind enormous factories belching out smoke.

It's extra jarring considering that just a bit north of Grandville is The Fab, an entire island dedicated to industry. You'd think Recluse could find it within his power to move the factories to that area where they wouldn't block the view from his palace. If the "factories" in Grandville could be replaced with more normal-looking skyscrapers in a similar style to those found in Aeon City or Port Oakes I think Grandville would look a whole lot better.

That the entire city is hidden under an ugly and cluttered web is bad enough, or perhaps a blessing, but I don't think there's much that can be done about that. The Web should have been kept in the Fab too, in my opinion, but it wouldn't make for a good end fight in the Statesman TF.
