  2. So far the only I19 info we've gotten was from the Dev's conference at Pax. Same for the only I20 info we've gotten, unless you're a beta tester.

They usually announce the Halloween event info quite freely, so just keep an eye on the website/forums.

I myself would love some more I19 info, and I can definitely wait for I20 info, because if I know what's in it, it's just gonna make it that much harder to wait for it. I'm already itching to rebuild my toons without the fitness power pool!

And no, no timeline has been given, altho most people I've talked to think November is a reasonable estimation for I19 as it sounds like it's going to be a smaller Issue than some have been.
  3. I think it would actually be easier than everyone is speculating, assuming ONE thing was done differently. It would sacrifice being able to knock people THROUGH walls, but it would still get the effect through.

Lets say you knockback an enemy into a building/cave wall/etc. Rather than the enemy being punched THROUGH the wall, create an animation effect where the wall takes damage, you see bits of concrete/stone/dust/etc flying away from the impact, and when the enemy falls to the floor, you look at the wall as see it has obviously been damaged. However the wall still remains intact, and unable to walk through.

For anyone who's watched alot of cartoons or anime (especially DBZ) this effect should be familiar to you.

And I believe in most cases, this would require no more than adding a "impact" animation and a graphic overlay for the section of the wall that got damaged. Of course smaller objects like desks/bookcases/etc could be destroyed without any impact on gameplay.

In zones, there would have to be a "repair timer' so to speak, however in instanced maps this wouldn't even be necessary.

I also think this would be really fun with war walls/zone barriers, where rather than an impact animation, you could see the enemy getting a kind of electric shock, sparks flying, etc.

Defense is a tricky one though, as it's a bit more prone to run into the softcap if too many people do it. Damage is a bit similar, but there's usually no danger of running into the damage buff cap without a kin on the team (and a decently large team).
And what would be the problem with teams regularly hitting defense cap? Especially if you had a bubbler/cold on the team, or people with shield running Grant Cover?

Wouldn't that result in much more powerful (and fun) teams?

Granted, hitting damage cap is always wicked fun, but I think defense cap on most teams will be even better. I can definitely see myself picking up the leadership pool on a few of my characters.
  5. Wow....I can't believe all the kvetching about fitness becoming inherent. The devs give us a major gift, and people want to look the gift horse in the mouth, so to speak.

So...a few things here from my opinion about fitness becoming inherent.

    1. I've always felt that SOMETHING needed to be done endurance management in the game. Every single time I start a new toon, I "suck air" until level 22 with stamina and SO's.

    2. Since I've now been a long time player in the game, and know how to build my toons, it has always really burned me that I have all those cool looking powers available to me to choose from my primary and secondary, but in the first 20 levels I have to spend FIVE power pick on my travel power and fitness pool. Now lets put that in a bit more perspective. You get first 2 powers at level 1, then a power each even level after that, for a total of TWELVE power picks in your first 20 levels. So FIVE of those have to go off to power pools. Potentially SIX powers of the first twelve going off to power pools if you're determined to pick up Recall Friend or Hasten.

    3. Slotting. Yes, this will probably make slotting interesting. However, it I feel it will still help flesh builds out. One thing, IMO, that people are forgetting are that there are TONS of power picks out there that really only need 1-3 slots. Combat Jumping, for instance, really only need 3 slots. A Hami Def/End, a LotG +Rech, and a Karma -KB. Hasten only needs 2 slots. Being of course, 2 level 50 recharge IO's. Build Up + Aim really only need two slots. The mez protection powers from SR and Shield only need 2 slots. Hover only needs the one slot it comes with. Superjump and Superspeed really only need the 1 slot they come with. Sprint only needs 2 slots, and that only to fit a stealth IO in it. Recall Friend only needs the one slot that comes with it. Due to the flight speed increase, Flight now also needs 3 slots max, rather than having to slot it up to have any kind of decent speed. I think people are seriously overlooking the plethora of powers out there that AREN'T slot hungry.

    4. More freedom of power picks. You know what removing the necessity of the fitness pool means to me? It means I can actually reasonably now fit Hasten in on EVERY character! No more worrying if a build has enough "skippables" to fit in extra power pool choices! Heck, all my characters could even have recall friend now too! It means not having to critique my builds so hard for what is skippable and what isn't.

In short, to me, this change means more fun PLAYING the game, and more fun BUILDING my characters.
  6. A pack of nothing but emotes? Not even costumes?

    I'm sorry devs, but.....

    EPIC FAIL!

(maybe if it was $4.99 it might be decent, but over half a month's subscription for emotes? Come on devs....we KNOW you can do better than this!!!)

To tell you how obsessive... er... how detailed the sheets are... If I go to my Powers page and put Accuracy in slot 1 beside Brawl... my Invention sheet will automatically detect that I entered a power in that slot but no indication that I have an enhancement yet (basically I've reserved the slot for that enhancement) it will discover that it is an Accuracy enhancement... it will check my current level to see that I'm 10th level... it will then figure out that I need 1 boresight and 1 luck charm to make that enhancement and add those items to my "shopping list"... all without me having to do more than type in Accuracy.

All the other sheets are similarly automated.

My computer desktop is relatively bare... I usually only have one game I play at any given time... but i REALLY play that one.

If it were me, I would concentrate more heavily on building up S/L or melee and building from there, probably S/L is a bit easier for a tank.

As S/L is the most prevalent type of enemy attack we face in the game, my Fire/Fire tank is built around S/L and has about 38% total. Made a huge difference getting from about 15% to 38%.

Fire damage obviously isn't a concern and cold is too rare to be more than an occasional threat and that's what a quick recharging Healing Flames is for. As such, I would drop the Aegis sets in favor of four-slotted Reactive Armors. And I wouldn't bother with the fifth slot as the paltry fire/cold defense isn't worth the slot commitment IMO. The Scirocco's Dervish wouldn't be my first choice for the AoE powers - look at others that might get you more defense in the types and positions that matter. I like 3-4 slots of Eradication there for max end, E/NE def and hit points - or Obliterations are nice for melee defense (or expensive S/L).

With that done, I would look at adding two more Kinetic Combat sets (if you can afford them) for your ST attacks which don't already have them. You may find you want the recharge from the Crushing Impacts, but I would trade that for the extra defense personally.

Re-slotting with the Reactive Armors will help free up some slots to better slot Blazing Aura and Fireball which are underslotted IMO compared to RoTP which is overslotted. You might find you have enough slots to get a Kinetic Combat set into Boxing.

Personally, I would find a way to pick up Build Up and slot it with a couple of Rectified Reticles and a generic recharge.

    Cheers
I'd rather not lose the +acc and +rech from the 2 crushing impact sets I do have, and plus....KC's are WAY expensive. I can afford it, but I don't really want to.

I will play around with the reactive armors and maybe some different PBAoE sets, altho I've always like the Scirocco's.
  9. Thought I would share the defensive build I came up with here on the forums. I built my tank to have it's resistances as high as possible (by adding Tough) and from there built strictly for defense bonuses. This build relies on having the City Traveler vet reward if you want any other travel power than Super Jump. (As you'll see, I've taken Flight, because I prefer flight and it fits my toons theme, but you can simple replace Flight with Super Jump)

Exactly. Making a quality global channel, getting people to join up, etc, takes work. People like you want to ride in on the shoulders of others, enjoying the benefits of the work they've done, and then complain when they didn't create it the way you wanted it created.

I can name a few mods that we all know off the top of my head who stepped down mostly because they became tired of modding. It does wear on you. That is their choice. However I fail to see what it really has to do with this issue.

Ok, can we just be done with this? JU has rules, they are posted here on the forums and on the MOTD. If you choose to not abide by said rules, you'll get silenced at bare minimum.

If this is not agreeable, then as Enrious put it, leave the channel. It gets no simpler than that.

Wow, and yet again another forum thread is created regarding rules that have been WELL POSTED about Justice's global channels, and people's ideas that they don't have to follow or should be above the rules.

Daemonic Visions, no Chrome was not there, but he's seen some of the chat logs, and if it makes you happier I'll be happy to send him all of them.

Also, this problem occured because of a couple things. Attacks in the channel, topics that aren't allowed in the channel and in some cases offensive, and people striking back out at the mods when we stepped in to do something about it.

I can't even count the number of times me and at least 3 other mods requested that topics change, and people calm down. During the time that we requested that, people either A: kept continuing said conversations or B: started striking back at us telling us we were "power tripping" and such.

Also, to answer something I was asked last night, DO NOT get silenced and then immediately ask another mod to overrule the mod that silenced you so you can get unsilenced. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. This applies to both JU and JFA.

I do have to say that I'm sorry that silencings had to be used the way they were last night, but from the topics of conversations, the way you guys were talking to each other, and then the way some of you were talking to the mods (very disrepectful), what other options did you leave us?

Play by the rules, and everyone is happy.

If you guys want a late night/adult themed channel, feel free to create one. Or maybe Candle wants to use Heretics. Either way....I'm curious to see how many people would REALLY want to watch/participate in that kind of a channel.
  13. Wow, some vids that I thought I would see there and didn't. I don't know if you want to get permission for them...since they're embeds you probably don't need to. Anyway...here we go:

Well gratz for the people solving it. I give up. Glowies that take 2 minutes (out of 15) to search, hostages that will just literally run OFF THE MAP...yeah...no thanks.

  18. Dear Devs,

I hope one of the devs reads this. I love City, I've tried many other MMO's, and yet here I still am. The one thing that really bothers me is tho is the old CoH main zone contacts. (KR, Sky, Steel, Talos, etc...)

Right now I am playing my level 12 elec/elec scrapper, and all the main zone contacts want to give me are a "Go hunt in Perez" mish, or a "Go talk to the Boomtown Security Officer" mish (which will result in another hunt mish)

I just made a DP/Kin Cor on villains side, have done nothing but contacts (and just the papers needed to get a contact in PO and my Jetpack) reached level 12 in about 5 hours play, and have not gotten a hunt mish yet! (Except for the kill 5 snakes one in Mercy)

I know that the devs standpoint is "new shiny" as opposed to "making the old stuff shiny again", but seriously...the game could be make SO much better if you'd just go back and give all the contacts good story arcs! And remove the duplicate contacts that give you the same mishes!

Currently here's my leveling pattern on heroes. Level 1-5 in AP, 5-8 in KR doing Radio's, 8-15 in the Hollows, 15-22ish in Faultline, Then Striga from 23-28, Croatoa from 28-35, Then RWZ and Radios from 35-40, then on to PI. I mean really....only the hazard zones are actually worth taking contacts in anymore!

So please....reconsider your viewpoint here....rework the level 5-40 contacts in CoH!!! Give us some good missions and storylines to play!!!

    Midnight Raids

Hi guys! Just wanted to post a couple things about midnight raids so hopefully things can go a bit smoother.

    1. It would help if by the time that we're done fighting the GM's (the last couple nights it's taken 20 minutes or so just to spawn Hami) that we have the teams pretty much formed up and ready, or almost completely formed. (Also, the start time is 12am est...it would help if we had more than 10-15 in the hive by then)

    2. Everyone needs to follow the leader of their respective teams. Greens follow green leader, yellows follow yellow leader.

    3. When fighting the green mitos, I HIGHLY recommend putting a single target hold on auto, and then spamming one or two attacks in addition to that. Remember, you can't really hurt the green mitos until you've held them!

    4. Communication! If your team needs something, or if something happens that will affect the raid, let me know! I've had a couple times where I've started calling for buffs and someone will be like WAIT! We've got dead/afk people! I know I also need to work on my communication skills here to, and I'm trying to get them improved!

    5. When I ask for a team check, and everyone tells me they're ok and ready, I'm going to proceed as if we're ok and ready.

One more example here...tonight I had a couple people complain to me because it took so long to get started. (We were waiting on yellow aggro, they had some disconnects and afk's and whatnot) But by the same token, I've also sent the raid in when we had a couple tanks afk, and the results really weren't pretty. IIRC I had to call a regroup with the bloom not finished yet. People appropriately complained then too. So...I WILL NOT start a wave without all the yellow aggro tanks ready. It's just asking for trouble IMO.

I raid for a few reasons. Because I love too, because I love this server, and because I know you guys like raiding too. The response to my midnight raids has been tremendous!

All I can do is the best I can do, and it's sometimes hard to notice everything with the amount of tells I get and making sure to read team chat/broadcast/etc. Let's just see if we can't all work together a bit more and get these things going a bit more smoothly, ok?
  20. Ok, here's my 2 cents for what it's worth. I know the devs view is "NEW SHINY" And yeah, that works to a point. However one previous poster here made what I think is the best comment about Blueside contacts being old, lame, annoying, and tedious.

Here's my example. I ALMOST NEVER play original CoH content. And by original I mean pre-original hollows. So...all that 1-50 content in all the main zones such as KR, Skyway, Steel, Talos, IP, FF, Bricks, etc....I almost NEVER play. Especially now that I can just go get the badge mishes via Ouroboros.

My usual leveling arc is Atlas Park from 1-5, KR radios from 5-8, Hollows from 8-15, Fautline from 15-23, Striga from 23-28, Croatoa from 28-33ish, Then if I don't hit 35 in Croatoa, I can do radios/TF's until 35 and then it's RWZ/TF's from 35-40, and then PI/RWZ/TF's from 40-50. It's so easy, and even more practical really, to COMPLETELY AVOID all the old blueside content and just play the newer content! Not to mention by sticking to the "hazard zones" (hollows, faultline, striga, croatoa, rwz) you're pretty much guaranteed that mishes aren't going to send you all over the place, especially for stupid errand and hunt mishes.

So here's my suggestion, and I hope some devs read this.

PLEASE tweak all the old blueside contacts, so that their story arcs are more interesting, and that they aren't always sending you all over the place, unless it fits the story. (Like say a Founders Falls contact sending you to Boomtown for some reason. If it fits the story, great! If not...kinda annoying). Also, please have them give their phone number sooner, especially in the upper levels of the game (30+)

REVAMP Boomtown! There's a ton of things you could do with it, and more than ANY other dead zone blueside I think a Boomtown revamp makes sense!

Add new contacts to Eden where you can do a story arc about the Hamidon. Give a reason to go to Eden other than the fact it's the entrace to the Hive.

Also a Story Arc in DA would be interesting as well...I don't think that zone really need a "revamp" persay...just a good reason to go there!

Do the midnight hami raids always go that smoothly? I haven't been in a while.

    Great job everyone!
Most of them have went pretty smoothly. The night before last it was pretty bumpy tho, altho we got it accomplished.

There was also one night where we finished with only like 23 unhidden in the hive (before the leechers came in). I still have to give gratz to Maribelle for helping me coordinate that one!

It's one thing I still love about Justice....the level of teamwork here is simply inspiring sometimes!
  22. There are multiple reasons why one may want to join both channels. Both channels have good communities, and there are times where someone will broadcast something on one channel and neglect to do it on the other.

As to both channels being @Ignicity free zones, I'm sorry but you only have yourself to blame for that. Maybe someday they won't be, but for now they are.

As it stands, please don't project your bitterness onto new players who may read this thread just because you have a grudge.

To anyone tho who does really want to know tho, JFA2010 and Justice United are the channels you'll want to join on justice. JFA is a little more Hami raiding, Justice United is a little more "all-purpose events". Come join both and have some fun!
  23. I'm sorry, CoH already has ALOT of exploration. So much so that there are zones that are pretty much unused/never visited (DA, Boomtown, Eden, etc)

CoV may not suffer from this problem, but CoH sure does. Honestly, I think alot of the zones in CoH could use some "Faultline" style re-vamping.
  24. Wow, this thread is still going? lol
  25. I honestly think he may have picked the wrong game to analyze. CoH, more than any other MMO I've tried, is ALOT more community based. I've stayed in this game myself largely for the people here, more than for the game itself, altho the game is definitely fun.

It's alot easier to become "popular" or to become an "outcast" here due to the tight-knit community.
